    Weight matters such as same weight and same body fat % doesn't mean same muscle amount because maybe he is skinny and longer so has less muscle also body fat but because of height weight same and becquse of skiny low body fat rate but also less muscle. For example same weight and body fat rate doesnt mean two people has same biceps size or arm. So he is muscular at 20% body fat rate

    Exercises are fine but if you really want rock solid abs, you will need some diet too. IMO diet is the most important factor in bodybuilding and weightlifting. Personally, I followed a meal plan from a website dietarize, and after eight weeks I lost a lot of body-fat, and I even got six pack forming :D They also provide you with an home workout plan, grocery lists... Only donwside is that they don't have too many recipes yet.

    That lean body mass aspect is super important, in my opinion. In the past, I have been as low as 155 without even an inkling of a six pack because I lost weight so fast due to my run workload(on active duty in the army). Now as I lose weight, my goal is to retain as much muscle mass and lose weight slowly. I’d like to be sub 10% at around 160, but I realize it might be realistically lower.

    The truth is that you need to work out on a consistent basis if you want a lean body. There are no shortcuts. I remember when I used to workout every single day, I felt like a different person. There's plenty of guys out there who claim that you can build muscle in a deficit. So why do you have to lose muscle fore sure when cutting? For eg Greg Doucette - he's a pro builder.

  • @odbodd123

    @odbodd123

    4 жыл бұрын

    In my experience, you can build muscle in a deficit if you're a beginner quite easily. If you've been training for a few years though and your gains are slow, then it's hard, but still doable. If your deficit is small, you eat plenty of protein and you train a lot, like 10-15 hours a week minimum going hard with weights, then yeah you can build muscle in a deficit. I find if you add cardio in to burn the calories rather than reducing your calorie intake that can help too, this is all just anecdotal mind you. It's difficult to achieve and more often than not you will find that you lose strength (and probably muscle but without tests who knows for sure) during weight loss, but it's not as bad as people assume.

    Question: Does that mean that I have to lose weight in order to lose fat no matter what? You can lose fat weight and gain muscle weight at the same time, right? The reason I ask is beacuse I'm 5'9", male, 140, and 17%-18% body fat. Due to my genetics most of my fat is stored in my belly, so is very hard for me lose weigth overall cause my my body just drains down everything else and leaves my belly fat for last. If I go lower in weight, like 115 for example, I may have visble abbs but I end up looking like skin and bones on my face, legs, etc.

    @Marcos Colon That is really only possible if you have a really high bodyfat % to begin with. I was able to increase my muscle mass and lose 20lbs (so far) because I started at 225lbs at like 30% It would probably be best to do a moderate bulk in your case. So like 500 cal surplus but really hit the gym. Watch Jeff Nippard for some really good training splits you can choose from. Personally I am overweight rn and I am the same height as you, but I would only have to be 170lbs based on this guys calculations because of the muscle mass I currently have. Hope this helps.

    So I don't know how, but my weight was around 100 a couple of years ago, and since then I've pretty much only been eating unhealthy. Burgers, hotdogs, kfc you-name-it, and so I've been pretty darn scared to actually step onto that weight again. Well, perhaps it was only my thoughts that had weighed me down, because I now have a weight of 85.6 kilogram. Still not good enough for my goal (to get lean) but damn those thoughts can mess with you if you let it :O I also know that I've lost quite the muscle mass since then, but I had definitely still not expected to weight less than before, and especially not by roughly 15kg's. Well, time to hit the gym again then!
