How London fuels corruption | Anthea Lawson | TEDxHousesofParliament

Anthea Lawson is a campaigns director with Global Witness, a not for profit organisation that investigates the economic networks behind conflict, corruption and environmental destruction, and campaigns to change the system. In this talk she tells the story of how London has become a hub for corrupt money and outlines what should be done to stop this.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Thanks for being so brave and honest. There's a price for the good life we live at developed countries. It's deeply sad and troubling to come to the realization of the true. All we can do is to understand that nobody is better or worse. We simply live different lives and it's up to us to make better for everyone by understanding what's really going on.

It's one of the reasons working people can dream about buying a house 🏡 without moving 10 x times to get a better deal. And others own 400 properties. I say if you became successful and people working for you are the successful as you are , then you are doing well.

I’d like to say that it is not the banks job to ask where it’s customers got the money being deposited. Last week I went to my bank and deposited $900 in cash and the bank did not ask me where I got that money which is as it should be because it’s none of their business where I got that money. The truth is I had a yard sale and several items I sold were big ticket items like a full set of almost new rims and tires as well as a generator. Now here in the USA there’s a law that says if I either deposit or withdraw cash over a certain amount the bank has to fill out a certain form explaining where the cash either came from or where it’s going. It’s supposed to inhibit drug dealers and other criminals from depositing large sums of cash. All it really does is cause a big inconvenience for honest hard working tax paying people like me. I don’t want my bank doing the job of law enforcement. I simply want my bank to engage in banking related activities and nothing else. By the way the US government received payment from oil companies to drill in America and none of that money went to the poorest people in the land. Interesting indeed lol

What is amazing is that religions use the same corrupt tactics and even the brightest are totally blind to their tactics! In Corrupt countries the best resume does not get you the job, the best product does not get you the contract - wait buddy, you have to go thru us - either you pay or must have the right connections to get what you want Religions say the same thing - you could be the greatest person in the world - a Gandhiji, a Buddha but wait buddy, you have to go thru us - only our God can get you Heaven, so first you must convert Works do not matter - all you have done in your life does not matter The only thing that matters is religion Just like the Corrupt people rig the system, religions also use the lure of Heaven to push conversions Corrupt religions dominate the world! They dominate because the moral, ethical, educated seem totally brainwashed by religion

This is the same story for Angola, re: the de Santos brat. It was diamonds and oil that fueled over thirty years of civil war that claimed millions of lives. Also Zimbabwe who's economy is unique in that it completely collapsed while at the same time video of Mugabe's sons pouring champagne on their rolexes to test water resistants. They all own property in London. While the people literally starve to death.

Globalised companies such as law firms have branches in different continents and different parts of the country: so the HQ of a law firm could be in London, then satellite branches elsewhere like Cambridgeshire, UK. If you sue one dishonest lawyer in London, they get their colleagues at the branch in Cambridgeshire to defend them! Lawyers should be struck off for dishonesty in quasi- and other courts. Quasi courts such as healthcare regulators do not have to comply with court rules, so they don't...the lawyers love working in quasi courts because they look like courts so they get to practise their skills as though it were a court, but without the responsibilities to a real court, such as duty not to mislead the court. The system is fixed against the 'defendants' at every stage of legal proceedings

The People of Britain are not one United people. I blew the whistle on corruption but the same lawyers are experts in defending corporate crime. White collar( corporate) crime isn't prosecuted because it's career suicide, and politicians are mostly lawyers and corporate 'leaders' who write the laws with a bias of getting more money for themselves and tricking the voting public that they've voted for these laws...Nightmare God will deal with all of us 🙏

This is a system that serves the philosophy of the rich; rule (laws) by the rich for the rich. For a more indepth view, check out guys like Will Huttons book, "The State We're In ", Oliver Bullough's Book," Money Land ",etc, etc.....
