How Kyrie Irving has Mastered the Change of Pace
Спорт
Kyrie Irving is known for having the best handles in the nba. His control over the basketball is unreal as he can make any move to score the ball. One of the things that helps him is the change of pace. Kyrie is great at changing speeds to throw off the defense. In this video we break down how Kyrie has mastered the change of pace and how he uses it to score the basketball.

I think my favorite part of Kyrie's handles is his footwork. It's so clean. That first step is deadly.

He is the best ball handler period !
what we really need to talk about is his ability to finish, to toss in a variety of shots. He's the most impressive player i've seen when it comes to that.
Watching Kyrie is like watching a Master in Action.
I'm 6'3...about Kyrie's height and let me tell you, that stuff he does is very, very difficult. I'm nowhere near the type of ball handler Kyrie is but the change of pace that he implements in his game is very elite. I tried to do this a few weeks ago and although I'm 35, I wasn't even 1/10th of his speed and I lost control of the ball. He HAD to probably start this at a young age (pre-teen years at the minimal) because if you watch his high school tapes, he's already doing his stuff you see today. It's footwork, knowing your body, and momentum then the handles come and adapt to the speed. He's played at a fast/change of pace game pretty much his whole life and not one person in the NBA can dance with him...and I love watching every moment.

At 44 and 6.2 I tried a few of those moves, I am damn slow and loose the ball almost every time. It still feels great just when it works once in a while. Switching the ball mid air to shoot from right of the basket to left of the basket is something I can't even try
One of the best breakdowns of Kyrie's game I've ever seen. Thanks for this!
In the first 5 seconds you should have said "Kyrie Irving is known for having THE BEST handle in the NBA" There is simply no one better.

You ever watch someone's highlights and just laugh at how good they are ?
GOATED!
Reminds me of how Peter Warrick (late 90's FSU football) would dead leg & accelerate/decelerate. Its a certain body rhythm that they've perfected.
💯🎯 hesitations and counters. If the defender commits to stop his first move Kyrie has a counter that can't be checked. Might have the best balance and touch in the league.

one thing i notice and never see no one talking about is how kyrie uses his offarm, when he gets in front of hes matchup its almost impossible for them to reach him
Hes good also in change of team
Nice dance floor
As he controls his pace, he’s also controlling the defenders momentum. 4:39 if you watch on .5 speed, the defender charged at Kyrie full speed. While he was beginning his next stride, Kyrie was already standing upright. The defender stopped but his own momentum literally sent his legs flying. Kyrie then attacked to the left because the defenders momentum was still carrying him in the opposite direction. Kyrie was timing his movements the whole time, shits crazy 🤦🏽♂️
In soccer this concept is called “La Pausa”
It’s crazy how most nba cross they’re feet they make it soo easy for him

Yeah. That fucker values his money over the consequences of that on his team. I'm done rooting for this narcissist.
More so than just Kyries acceleration he doesn't give many tells that he's gonna drive. It's what Kobe said about pump fakes just applied to a different aspect. It's the mind games. Kyrie knows how to throw out false signals to truck defenders. His instincts are good similar to how the other great players are
The penetrator the best finisher and cross over.
This is something Jordan Poole desperately needs to learn how to do. He's always at 100%. To the point where defenders just wait for him to finish and then block his last move, which works way too often.
Imagine if Ky was 6’6 😳😂

He probably wouldn't be the player he is now. Not as quick or as agile. Also because he's shorter than most on the court he can duck down low and use his shoulder to sort of "hide" the ball from the defender. I don't think he'd be able to as much of that if he was taller.
THE BEST HANDLES IN NBA HISTORY
He has an uncanny ability to ignore the rim until he pulls up for a shot. I mean he knows where everyone and everything is at all times.
Proverbs 13:7 There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.
