The myth that RDJ just plays himself in these films is totally wrong. He put so much work into his role is unreal and is loved for that reason. Edit: I know the mannerisms and acts are similar. I was simply praising RDJ’s acting and dedication

Many ppl seem to think roberts career was in the dumps because of his acting but he had messed up in the public eye dealing with addiction. Ppl didnt want to deal with the drama. Robert actually saved marvel being it first amazing film in a while which he had plenty of on set descions.

I also love that he’s always in the marketing; like the fun song mashups that Jimmy Fallon does or tries to be in interviews. Some other actors won’t do it but I notice that he’s there every time a film with him in it comes out. It shows how much he cares about the character and is willing to promote even though he’s a household name. That kind of humbleness and remembering where he came from is awesome.

I think iron man is a great film, and I’d go as far as to say it’s one of the best in the MCU. It’s a shame that people just see it for its legacy Because Tony has such a satisfying character arch. He goes from a prick who faces no responsibilities, can do whatever he wants and won’t even talk to women unless they’re hot,to the iron man we all know and love. And there’s so many great character moments, like when he’s on his own building a car engine (probably because that’s what he built with his father) listening to emo music, and just kind of looking depressed. You get the sense that that’s the real him and that he parties hard and sleeps with women to make up for his loneliness. It’s like the scientist said (sorry I can’t remember his name) “you’re a man who has everything and nothing”. I could go on and on and on but I’ll leave it there since I doubt anyone’s going to read this

Back when this movie came out the idea of a shared universe was unheard and no one, not even I thought it would give us a gigantic universe. I thought it would give us a series of sequels at best. However, when I learned of the post-credits scene with Nick Fury mentioning the Avenger initiative, I knew a shared universe was being planned.

I remember seeing Iron Man in theaters back in 08 which was the same year as the Dark Knight. I enjoyed both but I saw more growth in the Dark Knight in terms of DC and never conceived the notion that comic book superheroes would dominate like they are now. In fact, the thought of an Avengers film in just four years was just inconceivable. We have come a long way. You took expectations and threw them out the window. If there is one truth in all of this, none of this would be possible without the fans. Yes, they buy the tickets but they also make these movies. Passion for one's art and this is art is embracing what you love and let the creativeness come out. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is made up of people just like you and me that love this as much as we do. Marvel is run with a passion that morphed into a business. Star Wars is run like a business first, not a passion and now they're struggling.

I really like JARVIS being an AI and not a butler because there are several moments during Tony's development of the armour where you sense how much emotional turmoil he's going through-- is this the right thing to do? Can he do this? This is insane, surely, and he's still struggling with the crisis of self he suffered in the cave. And all he has to talk to during all of this are his robots. Personalities he made for his machines so that he could converse with them. Even the fire-extinguisher robot has a cute AI. You get a sense of just how alone Tony is and feels during all of this. The banter is cute but also sorta sad. And then you think back to Yinsen and his comment about how Tony is a man with everything and nothing...

I was actually having this conversation yesterday with a guy at work, about how the first iron man film was basically the grandfather of the mcu, and how increasingly well it's aged. Funny coincidences. Also I gave you guys some criticism on how you did the add integration on the last video which you replied to. I know it doesn't mean much, but I want to say this was far better, didn't feel slimey. I know the video would have been made already before my comment last time, but I hope they're done like this more.

We've got rules to follow that are bespoke for each opportunity. I do remember when it was announced in 2006. Return of the Kings left its mark in film, the Goblet of Fire and Revenge of the Sith came out the year before, Johnny Depp was killing it in pirates of the Caribbean, with the one film at the time. The marvel films at the time kept coming so another superhero movie wasn't uncommon, but when you first watched Ironman in 2008, you wanted more films like this, which changed the way franchises work. I really like the Mandalorian for its story, and Farveau knows how to tell a story because he loves what he doing while making his work.

Downey really did give birth to the MCU through his iconic portrayal of Tony Stark. And watching Endgame provided a satisfying, Tony has had a satisfying end to his character arc, it's hard to see him go, but I couldn't see his path going any other route but this one. In all of the mcu since day one theyve always called attention to iron mans right arm. He broke the damn thing in nearly every appearance in the mcu or at least all the biggest and most essential events for iron man and the mcu, not to menton tons and tons of weird moments that call attention to his right arm. I especially love the parallel of him building his first true Iron Man gauntlet and repulsor and putting it on his right hand, only for Iron Man to make the stark-tech guntlet thats also right handed, and then using his right hand to snap thanos and his armies. So cool and unbelievably ompressive. The amount of work effort and dedication this took automatically a classic series of movies that all together create a masterpiece of filmmaking and is an achievement in filmmaking in aa technical way, an emotionally resonant and emotionally satisfying, and of. Course highest grossing movie of all time

He directed Iron Man 2, which didn't get bad reviews (73% on Rotten Tomatoes is good- just not for the MCU, though it still beats other MCU movies like Incredible Hulk and The Dark World- and was okay for the time when it was released) and was more financially successful than Iron Man (and all other non-Avengers phase 1 MCU movies), but didn't go as well as hoped. Iron Man 2 suffers from the same things Age of Ultron did- too much focus on building up the franchise, setting up future plots, characters, etc. as opposed to just telling a good movie- supposedly because of meddling from the studio. Anyway, Iron Man 2 didn't reach its potential; as a result, Favreau wasn't asked to do Iron Man 3. He was a good sport about it though- not only does he continue to play Happy Hogan, but he is also credited as Executive Producer for all 4 Avengers movies and Iron Man 3.
