True story my wife will regularly call me Idiot when we argue and then turn around and call me Yam. My name is Don. So where does the name Yam come from? You Are Mine. That’s her name for me. That’s how much a Filipina will love you dude. Right down to your fucking name she gives you she’s declaring that you are her true love. But she also won’t hold back calling you retarded if you do something stupid. 😂

When signing the marriage license, she thought aloud "WHO'S FLORO?!!! I THOUGHT HIS NAME WAS JAMES!!!!" 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Fun facts: My name is Florence and I'm my dad's junior. I have an older brother named James by my mother. She calls my dad "Boog" for short. My father who served the US Navy wasn't home when my brother was born. If he was home he would've named him Floro Jr. My brother said "If you named me Floro, I wouldn't go to school." 😂😂😂😂

Being a Filipino, having a nickname that's so different and far from your real name is surely special. Like I don't let anyone know my nickname but if you do, it means we're close friends. My family never calls me by my real name always the nickname but if my Mom or Aunt does use my real name, it means I'm in trouble.

I just realize, since Indonesian and Tagalog have similarities, "ko" in Talagog means "ku" in Indonesian. "Ku" is from the word "Aku" means "My / I". So, if Jo Koy is Indonesian and he also misheard his name, it would be Jo Kuy. In Indonesian slang, "Kuy" can be mean "lets go". So, if his aunty said "Jo-ku, makan" (My Jo, eat), and he heard "Jo, kuy, makan" (Jo, let's go eat), it still makes sense, but his aunty is really posh then.

I was expecting an entirely different punch line when he told that her aunt wasn't calling her Jo Koy. I was already laughing hard because I thought he was going to say she called her "syokoy" as an insult. But it turned into a more wholesome story instead. Edit: here's an excerpt of syokoy in wikipedia: The Siyokoy (Syokoy) are creatures in Philippine mythology which were members of Bantay Tubig (merfolk). They are usually illustrated as green-skinned humanoids with scales, webbed limbs, and fins.
