i know you're just making a joke but i know a lot of fundamentalist christian fucks say that evolution is just a theory. No a theory is a well-substantiated explanation of something in science and music is really a type of science hence music theory.

As a professional musician and teacher I’m horrified this video does not use a single audible example. Music is sound, not just abstraction! It’s even more important to be able to hear intervals than to ID them on the page.

These odd quartet music videos are amazing. I've struggled for years reading books trying to make sense of music theory concepts. I love how the instructor covers every detail. For example: - 'the fact that the first letter is counted as the first number in distance of intervals' was very helpful. So many other videos out there do not mention these details. These are priceless videos.

Thank you so much for explaining this. I just started a Music Literature course, I know relatively nothing about music and I've forgotten most of what I did know. I'm having to relearn everything quickly so I do not fail this class. Thank you for making this simple to understand. A lot of your music theory videos have helped me so far.

Thanks you. I am not a musician, but I got a fair understanding of major scales from voice lessons and do re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti, do. The teacher made it very simple with telling me that, in any major scale key, there is always 1/2 step between mi and fa, and between ti and do, and a whole step between the rest. She showed me nothing of minor scales. I am still in the dark, but you have helped me some, here in just a few minutes.

There's a little semantic issue with calling it a distance. A third is not three notes away, it's two notes away. But it's the third scale degree. When we talk of a distance of 10 miles, we mean there are 10 miles *between* the starting point and the destination. We don't say the starting point is 1 mile away from itself.

Fantastic to see you helping people who struggle A LOT! ( *cough* not me *coughcough* ) I love the detail you put into this! You broke the steps apart which really helped me know what was what instead of a video that just chucks in a bunch of difficult interval information without explanation of it all. And they contain just a TINY bit of humour (not too much as if a cartoon) which brightens up my sad student theory days... So yeah! Thanks and I'm out. P.S. could you do a video about cadences? would help though I assume I am a bit late since my exam is in 2 days and I doubt this comment will be considered... but just an idea!
