How Ian Kirkpatrick (Dua Lipa, Lizzo, Chainsmokers) starts new song ideas | Production Tutorial
Музыка
Multi-platinum producer @iankirkpatrick took Reason's new Player Chord Sequencer for its first spin to see what ideas it might inspire. In just a few minutes, he had a new idea going. Watch as Ian let's us in on his creative process to see how he develops from chords into a song-idea ready for an artist collaboration.
----- HOW TO GET CHORD SEQUENCER -----
Chord Sequencer can be used in the Reason DAW or in any other DAW using the Reason Rack Plugin (VST3/AU/AAX).
Chord Sequencer is included as part of a Reason+ subscription which you can sign up for at www.reasonstudios.com. You can get your first month for just $1.
If you already own Reason and would like to buy a Chord Sequencer license, you can do that too ($69 USD) at www.reasonstudios.com/shop/ra...

This is the best collaboration reason has done
Ian did not disappoint here, He genuinely loves The Reason Rack and its dope that a producer with big Hit songs is an Ambassador. I'll be messing with the Cord Sequencer tonight.

LOVE the new direction this channel has gone in the last few months. Real world application of Reason by industry pros, cool little tutorials on how to use players, effects, instruments in creative ways, etc. Keep it up guys!
Wow. Not only is this song idea great, but Ian is amazing to watch. Loads of energy, loads of fun and really fast at fleshing out a cool music idea. Someone better sign him up to start making tutorials as they will fly off the shelf.
Such a great demo of the painless fun of Reason! I wish he had shown some more of hitting the dark chords for a change of direction. If you've ever struggled with writing a bridge for your song, the dark chords are fantastic inspiration for that.

What are dark chords? sus chords?
@Kaitain
2 жыл бұрын
@@josh27ofto The chords the player colours as dark/black are ones that are not a common next chord from the chord that you're currently on. They are still perfectly "correct", but they do mostly sound like a change in direction for the sequence.

have a look online Ian as countless hours of streams ... breakdown, starts from scratch ...
such a genuine dude, made me smile the entire vid. I think I'm going to update my reason version today.
Love the video and I relate so much to @Ian Kirkpatrick, in that I am more rhythmically inclined being a drummer first. That is also why I love the Chord Sequencer so much. It has changed the way I write in so many ways. I'm also a long, long, long time Reason and Propellerheads fan. I remember using ReBirth back in the day and even used it in live gigs in the late 90's. Keep'em coming Reason Studios!
I fucking love Ian. One of my favorite producers working today. So fun, inspirational, funny, educator, all around badass. Chord sequencer is pretty cool too!
Reason & Cubase best combo :)

I love this video. Its awesome seeing someone who does music at the professional level still getting so hyped coming up with song ideas. Reason still has that same effect on me and I've used it since version 3. Its a playground of musical ideas and creativity.
Been watchin a lot of vids on this player. This is the best yet. After all, I don't need a walkthrough. The front panel says it all. But to get caught up in someone's enthusiasm is inspirational. Thanks for the buzz.
This is just so so great. I love Chord Seq and this guy is a joy to watch.
Could consume Ian's energy and creativity on binge fr
Nice to see Ian outside the usual stream. I remember a while back you mentioning your collaboration with reason. Guess it's finally done. Congrats man, love your stuff.
Love this video !! Really nice to see a laid back workflow like this ! Lovely sounding track too .
That intro track was dynamite I hope I hear it on the charts somewhere.
Ian, I love your energy and enthusiasm and joy and approach to creating music! Perfect fun indeed! Keep rolling these vids out! I live for the overwhelming joy of composing with Reason too. Thanks for sharing my friend!
Love the enthusiasm and use of half rack effects!
Sounds like a Robyn song! Glad to see a producer having so much fun making music.
yyyeah more content with Ian. great guy
The most motivating Reason tutoria ever! Fantastic!
Such an infectious guy. Loves his Reason, what an ambassador 👌🏼
THIS player was what brought me back to Reason. I even upgraded to 12 consequently. Watching this is so inspirational.

watched his stream 10 times (prob. more) each session and still manage to find gold from it every single time. what a legend.
Reason as rack plugin plugin for cubase is a powerful tool.. This is the best video I've seen of anyone using reason to date, I also did a Tech House remix of Dua Lipa's "New Rules" using these two Daws.. Nice to know where the original came from!
i love that close up of "arpshit" being dragged into reason
Ian just has the best energy, 10/10
A Genius of our time in the Zone! Just need a Topline and this is a pop hit of course this is what Ian does - Produce Hits! Great seg Reason and thank you Ian for sharing your Genius!
Love that guy! His streams are hilarious and inspirational, just putting that soul and energy into his music.
I started using Reason in 2009. I used to rewire it to Pro Tools. Great new features. Ian is a legend.
Love his energy & love for music!
Those are the best moments, the arp surprises! ☝🏽🔥
Love his energy and enthusiasm!
Love this guy. A real music geek.
Like him, I’m a drummer with a modicum of music theory and keyboard basics. I do just what he’s done here - come up with a nice vibe that’s just a loop. Chord Sequencer is really helpful for creating a lot more interesting 8-bar patterns that I’ll still be unlikely to turn into anything. I always just noodle until I lose interest it seems.
Great video, sounds good, straight off the bat 🤘🙌
Ian is so musically innovative, I think his works doesn’t sound like others that you hear in todays pop music
That was fun! Ian is a great producer
We need him making sounds and melodies in Reason+ , like RIGHT NOW!!!!
OK, where have you been hiding this guy? I love his energy!! Now I really want to Vlog reason sessions. He is an energy magnet.
Great video 👍🏽👍🏽. I have to dig into this midi out rack with my work flow
cool to follow a professionals workflow
This was pretty awesome :)
Ian is such a legend
Dudes emotions are real and really understandable for me as a music maker. :) Record Ian more. 🎉
I would love that keyboard patch….so good!!
That's exactly how I feel every time I make music with Reason. Never ending excitement!
Wow, wanna see a finished song out this great loop!
Yep i luv it one of the best vst ive bought done 2 tracks with it since it came out . HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

This guy creates goosebumps with his creativity by combining tools iin various ways with a musical flow. I started with Reason Version 1.0 a very long time ago but he brought me back to it after various years with Logic Pro.
That is pretty damn cool!
Ouff the vibeeee
Ian over-delivered on this and it's easy to see why. player chord sequencer might be the most fun chord device out. There a lot of good ones but the reason one is top tier.

Okay this convinced me to upgrade from reason 6 😅
Wow this was amazing 🤩 and fun to watch 😊
this guy is the best
F'n kick down the doors mate goose bumps I'm getting love making and creating music and i 109% agree with every word of ur video
The great thing with putting down the chords in its sequencer is that you can send it to track and get out the whole melody as notes and change however you like the arp melody to be.
Smart I’ve used that chord sequencer, you can use chord player by one motion and export midi , ripchord is a vst 3 so it works ok ,
He's using some OG Reason synths and devises....Inspiring.
Sick with the arp
Can always tell an old school Reason user when they pull out the handy little half rack frens 😂
I freakin love this guy.
Inspirational
Not my style of music but respect the productivity with the tools. As a long time Reason user it’s nice to see how others like to use it.
He's a my ultimate inspiration, no doubt ✨
This guy is awesome 😳😳😳
How much for an "Ian Kirkpatrick" Masterclass?! It'd be like "Dead Producers Society" up in there!!

OMG! I love this guy!!!!
i started my music production journey w the app “Take” by propellerhead/Reason. I played around w the ableton trial for a couple years and then bought it! but i learned a lot thru music apps ans it started w yall so i thank u
Rippin Dude!!!!
Nice work....
🔥🔥
Brilliant
Dude you're freakin' out dude.
Panic saves 😂 So relatable!
Reason was the first synth plug I ever used. I absolutely LOVED IT. I've been years without using it, because I am not interested in it as a DAW. About a year ago I purchased the Lite version so I do get it again but it unfortunately is missing some things like Malestrom that I loved most about it. I wish you could buy the missing pieces like addons.
Nice video! Any chance the player Devices from Reason will come in a bundle discount??? Or added to the program when you buy is?? Like FL studio and ableton does?
damn i need to start using Reason again
Yea, Reason still has that effect on me too! lol
Love that guy
