Explain angles of cutting
All these years cutting my own hair, I've never used trimming shears before. Now I don't know why I didn't start sooner! I prefer my hair really long, but have always struggled with the weight, flatness and thickness of it, and now I no longer have to compromise the length of my hair anymore. This was an absolute game changer for me - thank you 😊

Same! I always go to salon to get my hair straight permanently because of how fluffy and thick my hair is. But I got tired of it and want my natural wavy hair a chance but don't know how to manage the thickness of it. This helps alot!

I’m thinking about doing this cause I also get head aches from putting my hair up I’m just trying to figure out the technique. When you use the shears to cut do you close them all the way down on the teeth or just do it lightly?
@KeraMiya
Жыл бұрын
When I first started out, I only closed the shears about halfway. I wanted to be more conservative bc I was afraid of messing up. But once I did this process a few times, I started closing the shears all the way which cut off much more hair. By that point, I knew how much I wanted to cut off to feel like it was light enough. So you just have to get used to it! 😊
I do this a few times a year! I always shocking to see how much hair comes out lol. Super satisfying tho

@KeraMiya
Жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes, I’ve done this a few times so far this year! You actually can’t tell at all that it’s been thinned out. That’s what the layers in between are for 😊
Very helpful video. I wanted to ask did you cut your hair straight or u shape before thinning out with scissors?I just loved the way your pony turned out. Mine just turns out to be big nest of hair😂 I will do this haircut for sure. It looks lovely on you 😊❤

Thank you! I’m glad you liked the video! I believe my hair had an angled cut at the time. But now I do the butterfly cut which helps to provide nice layers!
Great technique, thanks for the insight. Your hair is absolutely lovely. What do you ask your stylist for when you go to get your hair cut? Cheers!

Thank you!! I usually only get my hair cut when I decide to donate hair, so once every few years. I usually just ask to get long layers! Though you can achieve the same look by doing this technique. 😊

This would be handy for me, because I’ve noticed I have a lot of volume and thickness towards to ends of my hair and not much at the top near my scalp. It looks very unbalanced. First I need a haircut though, my hair is way too long. 😬

That is exactly how I feel with my hair! That’s why this technique works out so well for me. 😊 Haircuts are always nice - instant refresh!
Sooo, this might seem like a silly question, but you seem pretty good with hair stuff. Why does my hair kinda bunch up in the back when I put it up in a ponytail? Would thinning it more in the back help or is there something else I'm doing wrong?
@KeraMiya
6 ай бұрын
Hmm I can’t really visualize how that looks. Does it bunch up at the top near the roots, or more at the bottom? Thinning out hair makes it lighter, so it will bounce up a bit when it’s down. So I’m not sure if it will help with your problem 😕
Nice And very helpful video i also have so thick hairs thanks for this knowledge ❤ hey please tell if i do this process will this shorter my hair also or just thinning the hair??? Like when u thinning your hair will this shortened your hair also or just did thin???????
@KeraMiya
11 ай бұрын
It depends how close to your scalp you start cutting. If you don’t want it to have shorter pieces, you can start cutting closer to the ends! For me, it doesn’t make it that much shorter, it just thins! Hope that helps!

Hey I would like to do this technique , but concerned if the top going to be looking thicker than the bottom that you had to cut I would like to know. Thanks
@KeraMiya
Жыл бұрын
Hi! I understand your concern. The top didn’t look any thicker for me after I cut it. It actually helped to balance my hair out, since the bottom of my hair used to be a lot thicker than the top. If you’re worried, it helps to just cut a little at first, just to see how it looks!

@KeraMiya
Жыл бұрын
Great question! I can definitely do a high bun, but the French braid will probably look a little messy. I don’t usually wear braids though, so this isn’t a problem for me. If you’re concerned about the braids, maybe try cutting closer to your ends. Hope this helps!

@KeraMiya

I would test it out based on how fast your hair grows. Maybe you can start with every few months?
How does it look like with a ponytail?
@KeraMiya
Ай бұрын
Good question! For me, it doesn’t look any different, but it may depend on how much hair you have. But in theory. The layers of uncut hair in between should hide any unevenness :)
Would this help hide a choppy haircut?
@KeraMiya
27 күн бұрын
Hmm… that I am not sure of. It would depend how choppy the cut is and if there are enough long parts to hide the choppiness. Sorry, I am not a hair professional so I don’t want to give you poor advice on this!
How often do you do this?

Unfortunately, normal scissors won’t have the same effect - it’ll be much more blunt. You can get thinning shears for less than $20 at your local Walmart or Target! Or you can order them on Amazon, that’s where I got mine :)

I don’t notice anything out of the ordinary when it grows back. No choppiness or anything :)
Not sure if she mentions this cause I stopped watching the video halfway through, but never cut the hair parallel to the root. Always cut at an angle with these types of thinning shears and never close the thinning shears all the way on your hair!!!!!!
