    i straightened my hair yesterday and people in school were really surprised cause i have pretty curly and messy hair usually , and a girl who straightens her hair like almost every day warned me about heat damage. I want to straighten my hair more cause i think it's so much easier and my hair gets tangled way less , but i don't want to overdo it and lose my natural curl lol

    Did you get damage?

  • @DanteVelasquez
    @DanteVelasquez6 жыл бұрын

    I have had heat damage 3 times from three different ceramic tools; a curling iron, a thermal brush, and a flat iron because I held them too long in one place or I passed it over the same place too many times. Ceramic tools can absolutely cause heat damage if the temperature is too high for your hair, or if you do too many passes or hold the tool too long in one place which overheats the hair. It's not so much price with styling tools but how well you can control the temperature and the surface of the plates, brush or wand. I recommend a digital display on each tool to control the temperature on the tool. Ceramic is better at distributing heat and overheats less, metal (such as aluminum )is also fine but it can burn hair more easily, and titanium is really for straight hair that will not hold a curl because it heats up super fast. Heat from a blowdryer is way less than from styling irons, but you must keep the blow dryer moving and stay away from thermal brushes with curly hair. Blow-drying the hair first not only uses less heat but it also makes it easier when you pass the iron because you are then working with a smoother texture less prone to tangling, and therefore, sleeker results when you pass the iron. All this being said I agree that everyone's hair is different so even some of these things I have said here may not apply or matter to you. Everyone needs to experiment :-)

Like she said everyone’s hair type is different...Do what works best for you. These are just tips for what has worked well for her and people who may have a similar hair type.

    Its also good to know how Thick your hair strands are because if you have, Coarse/ thick: hair strands your hair is stronger and can take bleach and heat better and this person hair is usually its long or it's still growing even though they damage there hair and some people flat iron there hair up to every 2 months Medium: is when your hair is less thicker and stronger than coarse/ thick and it's a stronger than fine you can do a little bit more than fine strands but like Lana said use low heat because it's not as strong but it can be flat ironed a little more than fine Fine: is the weakest and can easily break and is prone to heat damage just make sure it's on a low setting and you aren't flat Ironing the hair alot your hair needs to be treated like a baby How you can figure out your strands is to take one strand and put it to the light if you can't see it you have fine, if you can see it but it's easily forgotten or you can kinda see it you have medium and if it's predominant than you have thick/ coarse hair strands

    I agree with getting the right hair straightener. I have a Paul Mitchell hair straightener which I love!!! It gets my hair the straightest so easily and it stays really straight even in Florida where it’s humid!! I mean if it’s July and I’m sweating like crazy it won’t stay so straight but besides that it will. I have pretty thick hair and I only straighten st Max 360F. I also blow out my hair as straight as possible. I let it air dry for an hour-2 hours and then I blow out pretty straight this way I barely need the flat iron. The blow dryer heat is not as harsh as directly putting an iron on it. Blowing dry really helps get out the curls from my roots. Once it’s dried that way it only takes a few passes over all from the straightener taking 5-10 minutes. I put Maui moisture silicone free heat protectant or I’ve used living proof perfect hair day.

    Can you do a video on how you treat your hair After you apply heat to it? The products you used or talked about in this video are probably not sulfate or silicone free so I was just wondering what you use for your curls to pop back as if the straightening never even happened😁💁🏻‍♀️

    I killed my hair when I put a relaxer in it. My hair isn’t meant for a relaxer, I dye it bunches of times, constantly put heat on it, got a perm. Recently I had to chop it all off so that it could grow back natural and healthy, it was so fried from years of damage.

    I do the same thing. 3b curls, fine hair, heat I use is 250 with a Gem flat iron. Starting with mildly wet hair. I use loreal sleek it iron straight heat protectant spray. Then let the spray sit until just about dry on my hair. Seperate hair about an inch not to much. Run flat iron thru it just once hold straight till cool. I also only flat iron once every three days. Preferably wash days only. Let natural oils saturate hair for three days rinsing with water only. Have not had heat damage in a long time.
