Good afternoon Dr Joe. You made my day. This video is awesome and Loving it. You have answered my questions about eating sweet potatoes, yam, cassava a staple back home and plantain (though we have another type of green bananas called matoke found mostly in East Africa and is usually boiled and mashed). My colleagues warned me about sweet potatoes spiking blood sugar but thank you for sorting that out today. I never knew celery roots existed, will sample it out as well as turnip and swede. I already enjoy most of the items on the list and always boil or steam, no frying I promise. I have been eating bulgar wheat instead of rice. I am now spoilt for choice. Thank you so much for finding time to research, compile and sample them for us. Have a lovely weekend. God bless

Yes, as in french fries, chips and battered fish. Those are all oil-based cooking. Not ideal if you want to tolerate carbs. The idea is to consume less than 30 gm of fats per day. The less fat you have in your diet the more tolerant you become of healthy carbs

@drjoetvMD

Learn to cook without oil. You do not need the oil in your stew or sauce. The flavour comes mainly from the tomatoes, bell peppers and other herbal seasoning. I think you need to ask yourself one question: do I want to continue in the rigmarole of diabetes, not eating carbohydrates which we all love or do I want to get rid of diabetes and start eating carbs like you did as a younger person? Once you decide, then you'll learn to cook without oil. And yes, your meals will still taste great.

I tried keto and I love the idea of eating meat and eggs but hate not to eat banana and other fruits.when I eat legume, my sugar stays high for more than 6 hrs, how can I fix my diet ? To be able to eat regular food. I don’t mind quitting starchy vegetables, I don’t eat junk already.
@drjoetvMD
2 ай бұрын
I am not promoting a vegan diet. Rather I am promoting a plant-based way of eating. There is a difference between the two. Your blood sugar is shooting up because you are still insulin resistant. You need to reverse that for you to become tolerant of carb rich foods. To do that you have to get rid of the fat in your muscles and liver. Watch the other videos in the series to understand the process entirely instead of watching one video in isolation.

This is where you folks get it wrong. I'm not trying to place a plaster (band aid) over the wound of diabetes. We have been doing that for decades and where has it got us so far? Well people remain diabetic for life. What I am trying to do here (if you have been paying attention in the diabetes reversal series so far) is to turn people who are diabetic today to non-diabetics tomorrow. This is for you if you are fed up of being a diabetic. If you love being a diabetic, then you can have the same approach of don't eat this carb-rich meal because of blood sugar concerns. Enough of that. Take out the fats and yes you can eat any healthy carb inclusive of potatoes, cassava, rice, yams, sweet potatoes. We are not concerned about how much carbohydrate we have in our food because we are reversing insulin resistance that's made you diabetic in the first place. There is a difference between what I am doing here and what you have been learning elsewhere. We are NOT suppressing diabetes here. We are actually reversing it. Reverse it and you can eat any carb-rich food you want - all root crops, so long as you don't go back to all old ways. Your choice.

Starchy vegetables without oil works to keep blood sugar down. It is the oil that stops the insulin from working. This is the only diet that works for me to cure my diabetes. The blood sugar goes up but the insulin works quickly. It is the oil that creates insulin resistance. My A1C was up to 12 until I learned that oils are bad for diabetics.

Virta health , Dr. Ken Berry , Dr. Jason Fung , Dr. Weisman , Beat Diabetes and many others all agree on avoiding root vegetables you are promoting to reverse Type 2 diabetes. Testing after eating is very important . Everyone‘s carbohydrate tolerance is different.
