I don't know someone is offended or not . But i guess it's really important and interesting to hear what kind of that states is the best and better for you . I was looking for information on which state has excellent prices for housing rent, travel, etc. And thanks to you, I got it. 😊

I just moved from LA to NY! lol i lived in LA for 15 years so it was def a big change. I will say though, I’m shocked you don’t drive! That’s one of the reasons I left LA. Sick of driving and having to deal with traffic all the time. It was cool for a min during the pandemic, but now everyone is on the road again and gas prices are insanity. Nowhere in NA can beat the weather in LA. I’ve been all around the country and LA hands down has the best weather all year round, but honestly, for me, it got boring. I was way happier visiting the east coast in the Fall where there’s beautiful autumn leaves, or Seattle or even SF where there’s rain and isn’t dry weather all the time. LA has everything anyone could ever need and more, but because it’s sub-cities spread out, it doesn’t have that “city” vibe like NYC or SF does. I agree with people saying SF is definitely a great is between of NYC and LA. you get the mild moderate weather of LA (slightly colder and rainier) but with the real city vibe of NYC and there’s actual public transit unlike LA’s awful one. There are so many pros and cons to both major cities but I def think weather and transit are the two biggest differences. LA is just too massive imo. Although I do miss the weather, I def don’t miss how far away everything and everyone was to me. I barely ever saw my friends. In NY people are willing to hop on the subway and just meet up for lunch. You don’t get that same sentiment in LA and it sucks.

While I do feel like while the focus on appearance is generally higher in LA compared to other places, it also depends on what you do/where you live in LA. I feel I've heard this a lot from content creators who live here (focus on appearance, numbers, transactional nature of the city), but I think a lot of it has to do with the entertainment/creative industry. I've lived in West LA for ~7 years now (grew up in SGV) and no one in my circle has ever commented on getting lip fillers/plastic surgery/etc lol. I really do feel like it's who you surround yourself by that makes all the difference! Fingers crossed for deeper friendships and more hikes/beach days in 2022 :)

Girl, I've lived in NY and winters can be beautiful but I prefer So Cal. I do miss NY but I made lots of friends so easily living in LA/OC. I was forced to get my license after moving. Subway was super convenient and cheap. L.A. traffic sucks lol. Wish I could live in L.A. but it's too busy out there. I live in Orange County and it's less stressful.

Haven’t been to LA yet and cannot wait to check it out. But vegan food in NYC is 🔥 Just went to Spicy Moon in the village & cannot imagine not having that place around! And still haven’t gotten a chance to try the new Italian vegan place Coletta.

Tbh, without knowing you, I feel like you’re a true New Yorker through & through! I could see you moving back to NYC in the near future, but with a small property in Miami or Tampa where you can escape to the heat whenever you want, but also rent/airbnb it out to help with the finances!

Also, i can agree with the safety. Crime is always highlighted from NYC because of the history of this city. But you feel safe when walking at night!

Maybe I just haven’t spent enough time really LIVING in the city this year to feel that, but in LA I’m just constantly like, we could have mail stolen or windows broken into! 😂 sigh

Maybe try Santa Barbara 👀 lots of nature and hiking spots, vegan + gf places, yoga studios, cute shops and restaurants ! And the community is so lovely and welcoming 💗

No, don’t try Santa Barbara. She just said LA is a bit slow. Santa Barbara is def slower and for older people. Maybe when she has kids it might be a good place to look into. Someone said for her to try West LA, which I 100% agree. It’s much less about your appearance and less “industry” focused. Venice is also a good one and very walkable (great walk to restaurants and clothing stores).

Totally understand you with the whole mixed upbringing since I was born in the US and I grew up in Asia and in the US at the same time hahah!!

Yesssss I loved your segment about transportation. It’s so sad that there’s such a negative connotation to metros in LA (I live here), and everywhere else where public transportation is successful it’s just what people use, regardless of economic class. And the dependence on cars is very upsetting here…

When you said you were looking for a cross between New York and LA, have you considered San Francisco? I moved here from New York and I feel like it's even easier to get around the city because it's smaller and there's such great access to nature.

I can second this. I currently live in SF and I don’t own a car but if I’m looking to do outdoor trips, it’s super easy to rent a car/find a group to go out of the city.

A few friends have moved there recently and I have definitely considered except price is $$$! Even more than NYC aaand I feel like in my past visits I was surprised by how cold it could get 😂 kind of felt like if I was gonna live in CA it had to be SoCal. That said it’s definitely on the table, maybe I’m due for another visit cause it’s been a while

Cost of SF is high (I got lucky with a rent controlled pandemic apartment rate) but when you’re not paying for a car or Lyft (walk, bike, transit everywhere) I think it’s honestly similar prices

I moved from SF to LA and for me I find it so nice to live in a city where people who work in creative industries can afford to live here. SF is full of techies bc its so expensive! It has gotten a lot harder for my friends to afford to stay there.

Beyond sushi and Planta was so disappointing when I went to NY in October. Have you tried Kensho in Westminster or Shojin in LA?

Agree with most of the points made. I live in NYC and have been to LA a few times. LA has plenty of issues but I think it has some pockets (not just the richest areas) where overall the quality of life is higher than anywhere you can find in NYC plus there are far more beautiful spots to see in the city and within a few hours compared to NYC. I think people can be misled by NYC since it's instantly impressive, especially if you never been to a similar city like it, and are more likely to visit late spring to early fall, not winter. And some think people all over means you can just randomly chat people up and make thousands of friends. Living there long term, the negatives start to stand out a lot more and you're not as excited by all the things you were the first few years.

Someone mentioned SF, but I feel Oakland would be a great in between! Close to the city, to nature (Joaquin park has a redwood grove, it’s beautiful, plus the ocean isn’t far). And there are a lot of vegan options here and it’s getting better every year. 🥰

I’m definitely one of the few people who loves winter and would never move to a place like Cali or Florida where there isn’t really winter hahah

I'm a former New Yorker but if I would move to LA, I'd choose Pasadena or Glendale (CA). All three are expensive though.

If you’re looking for Japanese fine dining Shōjin in Little Tokyo is a cosy option~ I think N/naka has plant based options now too~ ^_^

I totally understand where you're coming from I graduated from University in 2020 and all my friends moved to other states so I'm still trying to find myself in both making new friends but also what I want to do in terms of career and home.

What area are you staying in? I think it depends on which area you live in LA. The central areas are better for walking and transportation.

I appreciate the comparison. I actually grew up in LA then moved to (upstate) NY and now to a smaller NH city. It was really nice in NY being able to get around without a car and it had different vibe. I disliked how LA was so car-reliant, and now am back in a place that is also car-reliant. I miss walking everywhere!

@@matchalattegal People really love it there, so it just depends on your personality! There are lots of things to do there, great access to fresh food, and people are friendly. It's also nice getting sunshine all year, so you don't have to worry about seasonal depression. Just know you will need your car for everything, there's a lot of traffic, and different areas of LA are spread out. Rent/cost of living can be high like any city, and there are a lot more heatwaves than there use to be. But it was really nice growing up there with lots of job/internship opportunities. I hope your dreams come true!

Great video. But New York definitely has a more laid back fashion style in general than in nyc. Idk if you said that backwards, but the fashion in New York is almost unbeatable and not even a comparison lol. Btw I live in LA and spent 3 months in nyc last spring but just thought I’d throw that out there 😆

I think I mean NYC is stylish but makes it look effortless, more high end and editorial, whereas LA is more… gaudy? Not in a bad way, it’s just a little more obvious, done up, not quite as effortless and sleek if you know what I mean! 😂

@@Veggiekins LA stereotype wardrobe is leggings and hoodie all year round lol. NYC is more trendy and risk taking and just overall cool fashion lol. Im currently trying to get back to NYC. I miss it so much 😭 I love how I can still ride around in my convertible and go hiking in January tho in LA. NYC would be brick rn and wouldn’t want to be there during Jan/feb months would be ideal 🥶

Would love your list then! The "nicest" spots here that I've seen on all lists etc. are Gracias Madre, Crossroads Kitchen, Shojin and Nic's. They were definitely delicious and nice but missing the fine dining feel of 11 Madison Park and ABCV in NYC.

Was in LA in 2020 after not being there for almost a decade. It's freaking homeless central now. Very dirty and rundown. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. That place has really gone down.

Where do y’all be living in LA that you guys feel unsafe? I literally use to live right next to skid row and walked at midnight and was fine. Just don’t look or come across as a easy target idk 😂

It’s not really about coming across as a target-we’ve had robberies within walking distance homes, people jumping our gate to steal mail constantly, breaking the key code gate etc. I’ve never experienced that in New York so it definitely feels unsafe in comparison, but the biggest difference like I mentioned is having a doorman and being in a building of 200 people (New York) versus just you and a house 😯 it’s an adjustment for me! Maybe not for you, but it’s all relative 🙂

That you can’t place on being an easy target but more so where you decide to live. I live in ktown now and have been for 5years and literally that has never happened not even a stolen package. I still walk around here at 4am to my fav 24/7 Korean restaurant and it’s literally normal. Well stay safe out here

It’s really interesting how you interpreted things in such a negative light or perhaps to see your opinion being projected but I am really curious why you equate republican with east coast, for example? I compared two cities, not coasts, but New York is extremely liberal, whereas many many parts of California are known to be republican.

I'm from Lima-Perú, here that is normal and acceptable, may be in USA you feel ofended but I am literally just remarking the profiles of each coast on a list of keywords. What is negative about that ? Probably is just that we come from different cultures or politics are a sensible topic for you. Here in southamerica is natural to mention it.
