How I pull 4x my bodyweight | Sumo Deadlift Technique Breakdown | NatLifting

Ойын-сауық

Howdy howdy, welcome back to the channel. Today we're looking at how to pull sumo more efficiently and improve technique.
TIMESTAMPS:
Intro: 00:00-02:48
Foot angle & position: 02:49-05:24
Reaching to the bar: 05:25-09:25
Slack pull: 09:26-11:29
Wedge: 11:30-13:50
Putting it together: 13:51-15:41
Mistakes I made: 15:42-16:59
Outro: 17:00-17:39
Over the years my deadlift technique and ideas have changed, and if I could summarize 4 of the most important things to think about while trying to create a more efficient sumo deadlift, these would be it.
I'm pretty sure Jeff Nippard's video on Sumo deadlift was one of the first ones I watched when I first started doing sumo so I highly recommend checking it out here: • The Most Effective Way...
My coach Steve Denovi also has plenty of videos on his channel going more in depth, so if you're interested in learning more, I highly recommend that resource as well.

Make it sound so easy 😅. I have somewhat of a free week post meet and going to mess around with some sumo today. See if I can finally make it feel right using some of these tips!

how about tips for grip the bar? and thoughts about lat tightness.

I personally prefer mixed grip; don't overthink the hand grab, get into your position as quickly and as controlled as possible. Use the slack pull and wedge to lock your back into positioning

Do you have any cues for rounding and maintaining a rounded upper back position as you pull? I notice it's a stronger position but Im not very consistent with it. Thanks for the tips.

Might need to make sure you're getting into the same position every rep and using the bar to set your body tightness (pull the slack, pull your hips into position)

7:10 What if first bend the knee then hinge? I allways did this way by bending the knee then hinge.

That works too as well! As long as you can consistently set your hips and start over the bar. The only reason I prefer to hinge first is so I don’t overly squat down
