How I Pick Out the Perfect Watermelon Everytime

Watermelon is one of my favorite foods on the planet but if I accidentally chomp down on a seed it ruins everything for me. That's why I started cutting my watermelon hedonistic style and it changed my life. In this video I explain my process for how to pick out the perfect watermelon.

    All right, I have to say I’m a little disappointed! I did exactly everything you instructed in this video, I picked out the perfect watermelon, cut it the perfect way, removed all the seeds. Wouldn’t you know, the lizards and my neighborhood all showed up exactly like you mentioned. Soon after I held the center of the watermelon in my hand and boy did it feel great. Finally, I was a billionaire! So I thought. I took this center cut to my local bank explaining that according to your video I was now a multi billionaire and after a few harsh words with the bank manager, I was escorted out of the bank and they kept my watermelon….🍉

    This is the best video I've found detailing well how to pick a watermelon. The only aspect Josh misses is in most other people's videos- select a watermelon that has a brown stem, not a green stem. A green stem (it is said) indicates a melon that was picked before vine ripening in the field. Great job Josh in TX.

    There’s one more secret that wasn’t mentioned in the video. Please don’t send the government for me, I’m in Florida and already surrounded by lizards. Ok so you know how the watermelon has the dark green and light green stripes- the bigger and closer together the dark green is, the sweeter it will be. It’s not more important than the knock test but when scanning through finding the ones with thin light green stripes helps narrow down which to knock on. Oh and where the stem attaches should look kinda woody.

  • @juancena8739

    @juancena8739

    17 күн бұрын

    A perfect avocado will be softer than you expect, about as stiff as putty. Color matters a lot, if you find a green avocado with the perfect amount of give then it still probably isn’t worth it, but a soft green beats a hard black. If you take the stem off of the avocado at the top it shows a bit of the color inside so aim for it to be greenish brown and not just green. After you cut open an avocado you can test it by trying to cut the edible part with the back of your knife, if it passes through smoothly with no resistance then you have a great avocado, and if it tears even slightly it’s better to use for guacamole.

    I was once to Georgia (country) and they showed me even better way of hedonistic watermelon cutting. You need to cut off the watermelon's top and bottom, then make, at least, 1/4 depth cuts from top to bottom, around the watermelon. Then you peel it off, but not only the shallow outer layer, but with seeds. And voilà, you have sugar heart of the watermelon, without seeds or anything.

When I consume that juicy flesh, my inner primal part feels satisfied. I consume it meanwhile splashing the ichor of my prey all around, it is a ritual, a ritual of avarice, gluttony. another thing you forgot: the stem. That little pig tail stem. If it's all mature and dry, it means the watermelon stood lots of time under the sun and was ripe when it was cut. If the stem is green and fresh, it means it didn't. Also size. The bigger the size the more core volume you have.

No give at all, probably could be more ripe, pushes way in its almost rotten, small give and it’s just right. But, like your ranking, this is not always perfect- I’d put it at the same level as the ground spot. Nice carving tip!!!

    the pic part is right on. i have been doing exactly this since the 60's. but what is this idée fixe with the seeds? i love the seeds. they are quite fun to chew on. not to mention great source of fiber and much nutrients. 🙂

    My method and it has been working well- only buy watermelon when the bin is full, this basically means it's a fresher newer watermelon. Never buy a watermelon when the bin is half or near empty.

    One very important test method for me is to squeeze the melon. The harder it is and the less it gives in, the fresher and crisper the flesh will be. But we mostly get the smaller, round ones here and they pretty much don't have any seeds at all, so i guess they're different from yours in Texas.

    Not gonna lie, I’m now suspicious that pre cut melons in stores are missing their luxurious core and there is a secret society living that sweet luxurious watermelon core life.

    As a Louisianan, these tests are 100% accurate. The style of cutting watermelon, though... It's definitely something and makes me irrationally angry.
