Ойындар
The Sector Mechanicus and Necromunda scenery kits are fantastic, packed with character and loads of details you can spend ages painting. To get them ready for the table, though, you needn't have every bolt and rivet painted, and it doesn't take much to throw on a couple of extra details here and there to really make them look cracking in battle! READ MORE:

Coming back to this a year after using this method. It’s so great. I’ve painted so much so quickly in this method. Thanks again!

Great to hear!
This has been the most useful video I've seen in when painting my terrain. Using this technique and others, I've painted so many tables in the last four years. Big thanks for getting me started.
I did all my unpainted scenery this way and the board looks fantastic when we play on it, so simple but the results are amazing
I’ve watched probably 20 videos about painting terrain and this is BY FAR the most relevant to what I want to do. I love the look of these pieces and I’m actually excited to paint my terrain now!
Many thanks! Tried this to my Octarus terrain and works great!
Brilliant video. I bookmarked this months ago, and still keep coming back to it.
Great tips! Just about to start my Necromunda scenery, so I appreciate this resource!
I'm terrified of starting to paint. No way I will do the miniatures, but after seeing this video I actually feel I could do some scenery
I am getting to the 'new' Necromunda late, but I'm glad I found this video! Thank you, this is quick, effective and has garnered a lot of compliments on the table.
I am very happy with the results from this tutorial. Thank you!!!
To me this is one of the most useful painting tutorials out there. I did a couple of sector mechanicus pieces like this and it looks awesome! And best of all: it's quick to do! It actually seems like I will finish painting all of my terrain! Thank you very much for sharing this super useful tutorial!
The exact vid I was looking for. Painted terrain for the first time using this method, it's awesome
This might just be 1 of the best terrain-painting guides I've seen on YT... simple and effective. I'll definitely be giving this a try on my Ryza-pattern ruins. Many thanks! 👌
Every time I watch a scenery tutorial it just doesn't quite beat the efficiency here.
very useful tutorial, I'm painting a few kits of sector mechanicum for my local club and you save a looot of time!!, and resutls are GREAT!!, thanks!!
Man, I always come back to this video. Painted my Kill Tem Terrain with this guide. Guys, just do it this way... it helps you to get these big things done.
Awesome speed painting technique! I also applied it to the necromunda bases and the result was, imo, better that what I got when I followed more complicated (and time consuming) techniques. Thank you very much!
I'm working on some terrain tonight and came back to watch this very special episode!
Gave this technique today and wow has it turned out great. Thanks for the video and demo 🤘👊😎
Thanks for sharing this simple technique. Exactly the optionI I was looking for!
Great metaphor ! Had me smiling! Keep up the great vids
Big Thanks! Best tutorial for mechaicus terrain what I found!
Your terrain looks fantastic my good sir! I have my eyes on the Zone Mortalis terrain in the Dark Uprising set for Necromunda and this video makes the prospect of painting it much less daunting. Thank you for sharing your techniques like always.
Fantastic results! Sometimes less is more and hints at detail are sometimes better than extreme detail!
This works so well! Many thanks.
Dude this is an awesome explanation/tutorial thank you!
Just got a bunch of this as a commission - Thank's for the video, this'll work excellent as a base to work off :D
Awe yeah, painting scenery!
Perfect for the new Boarding action terrain!
thank you very much for this tutorial.i have this mechanicus set from the kill team starterbox and i thinked about that how i will paint that properly for days.and i wanted it simple.after this video i do exact that.great.
Really simple approach with a great final result and the potential to do as much , or as little as you want!

That's the trick, really. From here you can go nuts and paint as much as you'd like, but as far as looking 'done' on a board, these will get you started.
About to start painting my Dark Uprising terrain and this is the bomb! Thanks!

Ooh, a scenery one. Adding beautiful scenery to beautiful miniatures. A mix-match made in miniature's heaven. ^_^ This really was a nice special How You Paint. Always nice to add more paints and painting knowledge to my noggin. :)
This tutorial blew me away. Going to try it out on my new set thank you.

I'm super interested in how those new kits are going to look. I might tackle a different technique when they come along, we'll see how it turns out! :D
This was exactly what I was looking for thank you
Your technique is awesome. I just finished painting chemical tank. At first, after some initial brush strokes I wasn't convinced if that's what I really wanted but after five minutes effect surpassed what I expected. Thanks for showing this cool method :)

It can look a little streaky and awful when it first goes on, but keep the brush moving while your paint's still going to shift and it'll come out fine. :D Glad to hear it worked out!
Your channel is so helpful, sometimes I check to see if you have a video before I buy something haha
I'm in the middle of my sec mech kit and i'm following your guide. Bloody happy with the results so far. I went with bone and zandri panels Thanks man

Can't beat simple! The bonus with this is that it's super easy to paint over the top of it with additional colours, so if you want to brighten them up or add a bit more variety you don't have to start from scratch.

i know simple makes a happier life. im more into gaming than to painting so this was really awesome. By the way can you give alternate colors for the red, maybe like a white. like specific gamesworkshop paints cuz i don't know much about painting models...
Very helpful!
great stuff dude
Since I usually make my own wash that part is not too much a problem. Though I really like the idea of combining that one with this technique - something to try definitely
Nice job! 👍🏻
This will really help me paint that new Killzone Bheta-Decima terrain!
awesome tutorial
I like this technique. The red looks nice and worn!

I really like stippling on the larger areas of colour for that really worn, battered look. It doesn't look so much dirty as old, like the servitors trying to maintain it are just buffing through the bulkheads after a while! :D

I've done this with Cryx Bane Thrall axes, you can have a few different colours (brown and orange, silver/metal highlight) to get a bit of a nice rust effect that pops a bit... ... Which is basically the effect already done, I realize.
I'll be using this when I paint some of my Killteam terrain : D
Excellent thank you
Going through agrax earthshade like you are drinking it...that comment made my day 😅
im gonna try this thanks

So we’ll spoken in the beginning 👍
I did my mechanus scenery exactly the same way. Except I used a very thin black basecoat so it kind of looked burnt on, with a drybrush of balthasar Gold on the raised detail.
@SonicSledgehammerStudio
6 жыл бұрын
Interesting! The drybrush would really help pick out the detail, and Balthasar Gold's not so bright that it wouldn't look dingy and horrid like the underhive should... I might try that myself for some more barricades!
Great job fella

Thanks, dude! Not like there aren't a million extra things you can do to it, but sometimes just getting it started is the hard part!
Hello, thinking of doing that for my walls and columns set, what do u think?
I might just do that to the munitorum containers I got with my militarum kill team, it's seems so easy yet effective
@SonicSledgehammerStudio
6 жыл бұрын
Especially for containers, it'll save a ton of time. They don't all have to be perfect, after all!
Simple and good looking. Selected washes could be used to add a different effect. The citadel technical paint typhus corrosion adds a neat effects to when shattered about.

@@SonicSledgehammerStudio to be fair, it ends up being a nevermind using it to fill gaps, but it's great for making things look filthy/gritty
I need to try this, i always have the problem that this colored parts (doors/panels) look too clean and when i try to wheater them it looks just like a bad paintjob.
This is great. What do you use to prime the terrain?
Genial tutorial amigo! me gustó mucho porque es Simple y Bien realizado! me gustó ese rojo mate que utilizarse, me podrías decir cuál sería el mismo pero en citadel? Gracias :)

I think the closest Citadel red would be Khorne Red. I hope that helps! I think I got your question right. :D
Hi does anyone know the Vallejo equivalent to the Necron metal, I don't use GW.
Nice simple method mate. I'm going to look for a big cheat on my scenery and use a rust effect spray paint as the base coat then go over it pretty heavily with leadbelcher and some washes. Not sure how it'll turn out but on big chunks of terrain it's a quantity over quality thing for me!
@SonicSledgehammerStudio
5 жыл бұрын
That sounds like it'd be super handy. I haven't come across any rust spray in my local hardware store, so if it does work out be sure and let us know. It'd be neat to know whether or not to hunt it down online! :D

@@SonicSledgehammerStudio right finally got round to trying this out on half a set of Ryza Pattern Ruins. It worked OK in the end. Nice base colour of deep red/maroon with flecks of metallic in it for the rust effect. Paint also slightly textured to give it a smooth sandpaper style finish to the tough. Lots of washing and drybrushing later it came up OK. Maybe a bit one dimensional for mine but that's probably the limited palette I used. All done and dusted in about 2 hours though so efficient! Think I'll try the other half of the ruins with a traditional black primer then build up the rust look with brown, leadbelcher, and washes. Can't post a pic here so just uploaded it to google drive folder for an easy share. Link here: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-1OPvtiXqJwPpXPLsHEN7dPpDQD1_F1u?usp=sharing Link below to the spray paint I used: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01LXK983N/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Wow.
I'm not one for scenery but this is a nice set. Nice simply tutorial mate.
hello could someone tell me the name of the colors you used?
you might still want to use selective washes. for example painting the hatches metallic to make them look working is nice but it looks wierd. on those working things u might consider doing a wash of nuln oil to give it a working look. like it has been oiled and used over and over again while the rest of the piece is just rusting away. also it adds a real lot to the mini. flat metallic or silver looks just wierd without any kind of shadow
@SonicSledgehammerStudio
6 жыл бұрын
Funnily enough, the very first thing I did after uploading was to go back and get out the Nuln Oil. ;) There's countless little extras you can do on these things - especially that Sector Mechanicus kit! - but I was aiming to concentrate mostly on the base.

damn this is sweet
Good idea for making a model stand out is to rust it, using 3 different types of rust effects and that is it , no washes just whack it on the table and play games!
Sorry if I missed it but did you not prime these at all? If you did, what did you use? Thanks and great stuff!

Is it possible to use green instead of the brownish rust colors?
@SonicSledgehammerStudio

In theory, sure, but it's going to look different. 🤷♂️ You can use whatever you'd like, whether you think it's going to look good or not. It'll probably look a little more wet and mossy?
