Thanks again for your awesome input mate. Your right, horses are something that we paint a lot of in our fantasy games. It’s something that is a big feature of most fantasy armies but it’s also something that is easy to forget. I’m glad you enjoyed this one and hope I can make other useful tutorials like it in the future. Thanks again bud, take care and I’ll see you soon!

Nice! These are often my personal favorite type of videos, I really enjoy the tutorials as much as the videos about painting entire models, they both have their strong points and values. When I got back into painting minis after a 20 year absence, I used a unit of Britannia Knights as my go-to project. I found them to be a perfect project to try as many different colours and techniques as I could in a single set of models, yet still have them look as a unit in the end. Honestly, I wish I had seen this video 2 years ago, because I was totally in the dark and was painting from my childhood memories, lol. However, they turned out well enough for me to be happy with them, and to spark the painting fire again. This is a great beginner-level video IMHO, as it touches on many fundamentals of mini painting. Yes, your "Storm Trooper" video as been great for me to learn about white baes and highlights. It is the one colour I struggled with greatly before watching that video a few times, lol. This is a great recommendation by Michael, and a very useful video. Great job, guys. As always, another fantastic and helpful video, my friend! Thanks for everything you do here. You are appreciated!

I love trying to make interesting and useful videos that others can learn from and join in with me. This was such a great suggestion from Micheal ( although I am a little slow getting around to it ) and something that I probably wouldn't have thought to do without him. I know exactly where you are coming from with jumping back into the hobby after a long time out and trying to work out the cool new ways of painting. Things had certainly moved on a long way from when I was younger and slapping thick layers of green paint onto my dark angels ( I was having fun and ultimately that's all that matters ). Horses are such a great place to start to paint, they offer larger areas to hold colour and are an awesome place to try to blend those colours together. I can see why you started with them first and moved onto to more complex things later as they are such a great place to begin. I also need to make a point here that I really miss Bretonnians and would love to paint those colourful bright chivalrous knights again! Thank you so much for dropping by again my friend. You are always a positive and enthusiastic member of this little community we have. I always value your input and am always happy to know that some of the videos and tips are still useful to you and others alike. Take care love there in Canada my friend from the land of the dragon. I hope to see you soon on the next one.

Thank you for a great comment my friend. I often paint with lots of different brands and have favourite paints from each one. I find it helps to expand your colour range and helps to build up a great collection of different shades too. Each one has its own unique style and the paints are all different consistency that allows you to use them all in different and unique ways. Thanks so much for dropping by, watching and commenting my friend I really appreciate it 👍🏻

..some really good ideas there , I'll give this technique a try , ..so many different ways to colour our horses , years ago I painted 54mm horses using the oil paint on , wipe off technique , brilliant if it works but a bit of a mess if it goes wrong , ..now I layer my horses in 28mm , painting the leather and horse furniture first , and painting the horse flesh in between. !! , thanks for a great tutorial ,

Thanks for this awesome comment. I’ve heard about the oil technique but have not tried it for myself yet, it does sound very messy indeed. Maybe it’s something that I’ll take a look into in future. It’s a great idea to pint the leathers and bits first as you can really focus on pushing the colour of those horses further afterwards. Thanks so much for watching my friend I appreciate it.

Hello Dan, I can't thank you enough for putting this project together. You have displayed some very simple techniques to achieve quality results. The use of stippling is something I have overlooked. As simple as it is, it just never occurred to me that this is the method to get the look I desire. I like the idea of having a 'control palette' of colors. I don't have the same exact bottles but my color match is where I want it, however it is the result of mixing which is not very reliable to reproduce all the time. I am a fan of Vallejo and have many of their colors. I also use Army Painter but I don't have the Tones that I wanted in the kit I got. I really want to get my hands on this product. This video excites me because you addressed all of my interests - different colors, muscle prominence, textures and contrasting tails etc. You also dabbled with the 'schemes' of patterns that various horses have - Mottled, Pinto etc. Your demonstrations of these models really strikes a chord with me. I have been hungry to see how a similar model can be treated in a variety of ways and yet retain the cohesion of the army's look. The Gray and Light Brown are my favorite. These colors seem to lend themselves to realism of a Horse color. The Ochre Horse is very vibrant but, I see that the final outcome of the color can be a tricky balance of tone. It is my thinking that the base color is very important as to how it reflects the applied washes and top colors. Once again, my gratitude for your sharing these painting tips is over the top. I am so grateful to be a part of your channel. You have offered so much and never fail to give me knowledge and inspiration to do my own thing based on your samples. My fellow subscribers I'm sure are grateful as well. The comments are very insightful and encourage everyone involved in their painting endeavors. It is very kind of you to address some of your viewers' concerns. It gives depth and humanity to the KZread experience. What a cozy and warm channel. I look forward to your posts as they uplift me and give my day a spark which transfers to the paint table and game board. I consider you a wonderful friend from across the pond. Thank You again for following up with my interests and the shout out to me. Peace to you!

Hi Micheal. I am so happy to know that you enjoyed this one. This has been inspired by you my friend and the suggestion was perfect for the channel. It's thanks to you that I get to try out new things and add some cool new ideas onto this little channel. It's always so lovely to have others enjoy what I do, but to also add so much to it as well. If it wasn't for you and the input you have shown this channel certainly wouldn't have grown in such a way. You do not have to thank me my friend, it is me that owes you thanks for offering me such a cool and unique idea and helping to grow this little community we have made. I'm really glad that the little tricks and tips of how I get the cool and subtle bends and colour effects on horses has shown through in an easy and useful manner for you and others as well. It's always humbling and rewarding to know that these small videos offer people options, choices and even new ways to develop their own painting style. I love hearing that it helps to push others into painting more and ultimately that is the real goal. The stippling and small brush strokes is such an underrated way of creating the great textures to make horses look so natural. I have plans to make a video painting skin using different paint brands to create similar results like this one and I'm hoping it will be just as informative and useful for people as this one has been. Being able to shout out to you and include you and the great ideas into the videos is a well deserved reward to you for all of the brilliant inputs you have given me over the months. I am more than happy to mention you and shout out about you and all you have done here. Your input, comments and support here have helped to push me and inspire me to do more. It has also helped others in the comments section to develop too. Thank you again for all you do here and take care my friend from the land of the dragon. I'll see you on the next one. P.S. here in Wales we speak English, but also have our own Welsh language and people speak this to all different levels. In Welsh we say "Diolch yn fawr" this means, Thank you very much!
