    I wanted to run the Midstate for the third year in a row but the military put me out in western NY. So, I'll be running a 50 miler out here at the same time you guys start tomorrow. I'm going super bare bones on this one. Just a vest, nutrition and an extra pair of shoes. It's all road miles so it'll be the Torin 5's as well (same colorway as yours). Good luck to everyone racing this weekend. May the weather forever be in our favor!

    Beginner question: why do folks use vests instead of a traditional CamelBak/bladder system during ultras?

  • @ChaseTheSummit

    @ChaseTheSummit

    2 жыл бұрын

    For speed. Flasks are easy to take out and re-fill at aid stations without removing your vest. With hydration bladders it's a more cumbersome process. I also like how I can distribute the weight of the water with some in the front and some in back rather than all of it in the back which can put added stress on the shoulders and make you feel back heavy. It's all personal preference though, lots of people still use reservoirs!
