How I overcame PAIN after my episiotomy

I'm sharing my journey through postpartum pain (including with intercourse) after the birth of my first son. Pain after an episiotomy or any perineal tear or trauma is VERY common. There is little guidance for moms about how we can overcome pain and be able to exercise, enjoy intimacy, wear tampons and menstrual cups again. and keep up with our babies when we're in so much pain. I hope that sharing my journey and the things that happened after my vaginal birth will be helpful to any other women out there that have experienced this trauma during child birth.

Thankyou for sharing these details so frankly. Nobody talks openly about this. It gives me some confidence even though the experience was not that great for you. Just the knowledge that someone has gone through something like this and come out of it gives me a lot of confidence. Thankyou for sharing. This was the best video about the experience of an episiotomy I’ve seen

I was one of those moms who had to push for 3 hours (first baby). But my last baby I barely even made it to the hospital before she was born haha. I honestly don't even remember which ones I did or didn't have an episiotomy with, but definitely weeks of discomfort either way! Great info, Nicole!

I had an episiotomy with both my kids. They were coming too fast and I wasnt stretching fast enough. My last one was 5 weeks ago. And I told everyone the stitching up afterwards was worse than giving birth. And with my last the stitches took longer to do than my labor (45 mins). And it took me about 4 months to be able to tolerate penetration. And 6 months to be able to enjoy intercourse again.

My oldest son was induced, I had an epidural and had an episiotomy. TMI I couldn’t poop right for months! My 2nd son was done all natural and while painful I did not have an episiotomy & not issues immediately after.
