I am watching your organize fabric video from 2013 however, this wee tip will still apply. If you use bins that have lids or not, when you move, shrink wrap your bins as you are packing. That gives a layer of protection, helps keep the lid on and puts a lid on those bins without an actual lid.

I saw this video yesterday and was inspired to get my fabric stash organized. I purchased plastic bins at Walmart and worked on the project last night. I discovered fabric pieces from old projects in the bottom of a large storage box. :)

Some women collect shoes, some collect purses, I collect fabric. Right now I have a small stash compared to some, but it's growing! My newest addition is 'Dr. Who' fabric!!!! All fabric is beautiful and exciting!

My "local" quilt shop is in a town about 40 minutes away, so I don't get there a lot - but she runs 25% off the 18th of every month & if you buy the rest of the bolt, you get 50% off! If I need something specific, I really like Missouri Star Quilt Co!

I finally organized some of my fabrics and scraps. More to do but will save that for another day. I like the way you folded fabrics in bins. I prefer to have lids on my bins to keep the dust and humidity out. Thanks for the inspiration!

Great, thanks for those storage and buying tips! Good video. I just started sewing again after 35 years! I've finally discovered my quilting genes. My Great GrandMother started me out but she passed before I could learn much more to continue. So, 35 years later I discovered KZread Tutorials and been learning a lot! The "Stash" begins! Anyway, I Luuuv shopping Ebay as I can find what I want fast or browse for hours and no gas cost to get there and I can do it at midnite or in midst of a blizzard! Also, Etsy, Fat Quarter Shop & fabric.com. I'll have to try your others. And don't be jealous but to my total Shock and Amazement I discovered The Missouri Star Quilt Co. AND its just down the hwy 30 minutes from me.!!! Its a bit o gas but hey its worth it every time! Cheers Sewing Mates!

I recently ran across a fantastic way to store fabric (courtesy of Jean True love's KZread channel). Fold your fabric from selvage to selvage, and then fold that in half again in the same way. Using comic book boards (from Amazon,), place a board vertically, about 4-6 inches from the short edge of the folded fabric. Begin folding the fabric around the board, the same way it would be on a regular bolt. You end up with a mini-bolt of fabric that stores on its side in a storage container or on a shelf.

I buy from a lot of the ones you mentioned (Etsy is great when I find a pattern that uses an older line of quilt fabrics that the stores have sold out of), Missouri Star Quilt Co. (awesome customer service, selection and sales), Connected Threads (best prices, have their own line of fabrics which are great quality and feel), Jordan Fabrics (amazing kits they put together, and they have a terrific eye for colors), fabricdepot.com, Hancock's of Paducah, and Shabby Fabrics. You mentioned a few ones that are new to me so I am looking forward to checking them out! First time on your channel, New Subscriber(!). I grew up as an Army brat (Dad was a West Point Graduate) so I appreciate your comments on moving.

My only local shop is a fabricland. However I am in downtown Toronto often and I go to Queen st for many of my bra making supplies. Fabricland does not stock spring steel boning (I sew corsets too) nor do they have the casing for bra wires. Bra wire casing can be made with bias binding however, who wants to do that? Especially when casing can be purchased for less then $1 per meter! So I make my way down to visit my mom a few times a month ;). There are also a few places I shop online. Amazon, farthinggales, ebay, etc. But for some reason I much prefer the in person experience better. I like to see before I buy.

Yes I agree! Fabric.com is not good with customer service at all! They are so rude! I purchased the Michael Miller " Out to Sea" and the day my fabric was shipped it went on sale.. I would have saved $15 and they would not give me any type of adjustment or credit. They were extremely rude about it and just so un caring.. I will never purchase from them again. So thank you for mentioning others! I'm going to try those out!

Miranda chamness Yarn was a problem for me also. I finally bought a nice under the bed box, plastic, on rollers, and when it is full, I stop buying for a while. It rolls out easily, nothing else under the bed, and it keeps it neat and clean. So my yarn stash is small, but I am still learning to crochet, so it might get bigger. Fabric is still a problem for me. The ideas in this video are really good.

Our last PCS the movers literally threw everything in a box and it was a huge mess when we got to our new duty station, I was so upset! I'm scared to let them take my sewing machines and cameo. But anyways.. My favorite place to buy fabric is Spoonflower even though it's ridiculously expensive.
