How I Mix and Apply My SKIN TONES in Real Time/ No Time Lapses

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I've had a lot of people that wanted me to do a video on how I mix and apply skin tones MY way in real time, so here it is! This is a longer video because there are no time lapses. I only do realistic skin tones, so while this may not be the correct tone you're looking for, this video gives you an insight on how to mix and apply them to achieve what you're looking for.

    Although I'm more of a mini painter, this REALLY helped train my brain for good skin tone mixing. Thank you!

    I'd love to see more like this, I've always struggled with faces. That's why I tend to stick to models with helmets..

    Once I get a few more patrons I'm going to start doing some live streams where we can go over painting tutorials together, plus I plan on doing a few more of these type of videos.

    @@TheCreativeCollector Do you seal the head after airbrushing and before you do the wash or do you just dry it and then put on the red and yellow wash?

    What about it you want to brush on those colors you mixed for those w/o airbrushes? Same process or do we need to do something different?

  • @TheCreativeCollector

    @TheCreativeCollector

    I would say same process as far as mixing, but apply the shade in thin layers, like using a glaze. Build it up so it doesn't go on too strong.

    How do you get the paint to go on so smoothly? Everytime I paint it's like it peels off after I dry & try to put another coat Even with thinned paints Could it be the primer? Or the hairdryer I use to speed up the drying ?

  • @TheCreativeCollector

    @TheCreativeCollector

    2 жыл бұрын

    Most likely it could be your primer. I've never had an issue with paint peeling off. And if you're using a hair dryer, try not to get too close or use too long. That can peel it off too.

    After each layer, I let dry and I either use a workable fixative or a flat coat. It protects the paint and then you can layer over.

    Also before priming, I use a very light coat of water and Dawn to wash the model to clean any body oils from the hands. After maybe use latex gloves.

    I'm much more technical than artistic, so I can't help be wonder if there isn't just a set ratio of these colors that could be worked out then be done consistently in batches when needed? I mean if the pigments from the individual bottles are consistent then the mix should be as well, right?

  • @TheCreativeCollector

    You should be able to do that. I just like to mix my own for the specific character.

    Your washing and shading techniques. Do you use the same technique when youre painting arms and legs. Whennyoure trying to accent the lines or muscle tone

    @@TheCreativeCollector awesome. I look forward to that. Im glad youre making these. Alot.of videos ive seen about making hyper realistic flesh tones on models. They just show the colors and then do.it. they dont go into detail of how or why they are using each technique and shades

    You ever try a Jenna Ortega as Wednesday model? From certain light it looks like her skin is a kind of purple. What would you do for pale skin like that?

  • @TheCreativeCollector

    @TheCreativeCollector

    I haven't yet but I plan on painting a Wednesday model soon. And you're right, there is a purple hue to it. I would probably mix some into the base tone and lighten it up with a warmer tone from there.
