I’m from Canada so our food basically is a mix of French, English, Native, Scottish and Irish cuisines that merged to make something beautiful. Also, we eat a lot of seafood in the maritimes and pacific regions, caddie in the east and the prairies and game meat like caribou, moose and wapiti (slang for elk, where I live anyway) and a lot of seafood as well, but more like raw fish, seal, whale and narwhal. It’s a wide and delicious cuisine!
Buzzfeed really struck gold with Rie ! She’s amazing 💖

i’m a simple person, i see rie I click.
I've lived in a lot of places in the US - stopped in several to try some local food along the way. I've had New York style barbecue, Saint Louis style barbecue... haven't had Texas style, but I hear it's great. My family is kind of a mix of European cultures, but we leaned heavily on Italian food, as well as the more common "American" stuff, like hamburgers, Tex-Mex, fried chicken, hot dogs... you know the ones. But in some places, I picked up some foods that had gotten big even though they weren't "traditionally American" foods. I've had Indian, sushi, Japanese, Thai, Mediterranean... the list goes on. Also, I know sushi is a Japanese thing, but a lot of people have tried it. When I say "Japanese food" I mean things like takoyaki, miso soup, Japanese-style curry, yakisoba, things of that nature - specifically non-sushi Japanese food. I actually experiment around in the kitchen a little bit... I've made my own recipe for fish tacos, an easy "cheating" version of pasta carbonara, an "Americanized" version of Thai Basil stir fries... I like experimenting around with new flavors, but I'm pretty far off from being a "chef," I suppose.
i'm from singapore, and the hawker food here is really well known. i could eat them for years! you guys should come down and try the food here, we have really diverse types of cuisines here 😊

Rie is so inspiring! Really enjoyed watching this video!
Even hearing Rie while cooking shows how much she loves doing it and you just automatically enjoy it more!
I love Rie's take on different dishes! I would love to see her take on some Eastern European foods. The way my family makes cabbage rolls (holubky)- beef and rice meatballs rolled in blanched cabbage and cooked in tomato sauce- comes to mind. We also make a rolled dessert/breakfast with nut paste or fruit jam called kolače that makes me so happy. It's a Christmas and Easter staple. A third thing I love from my mom's side is called halusky (confusing, I know) that's a potato dumpling dish served with a stew-like topping. My dad's side is Italian and German, so there's plenty of representation there. Thank you so much for making these videos!

Hey Rie, I love watching your videos! You’re always so positive and I love learning more about Japanese cuisine and how it influences your dishes and cooking :) Since you asked at the end of the video where we are from and if you should cook something from that country - I am german and I would love to see your twist on some of our cakes.
