One of the biggest gold-making skills in GW2 is the ability to emotionally disconnect from your material storage. SO MANY players think "maybe I'll need that one day!" and delay their current concrete goal for some imaginary hypothetical scenario far into the future.

tbh, I did the opposite in the beginning. I sold all my T6 and T5 mats to finance a server switch. After the switch I decided to start dungeoneering and needed a berserker staff for my ele. I had no gold left and not enough dungeon tokens to buy berserk gear. So I bought 4 staves from ascalonian catacombs tokens and threw them into the MF in hopes to get a berserker weapon or at least something to sell. I got The Legend. Collecting the materials to finally craft the Bifrost was painful, I can tell ya. Since then, I've been hoarding everything. And tbh: it's nice if you want/have to do a collection and have all the mats in your bank :)

I'm not entirely certain I agree. I think the more nuanced approach would be: If you need gold RIGHT NOW for a very concrete project, go ahead and sell stuff you don't need RIGHT NOW from your material storage. But if you're just selling something to have that gold sit in your wallet doing nothing, you're potentially just wasting 15% of your value, by needing to buy it back later from the TP. For example my current material storage has roughly 1k gold worth of stuff sitting in it. I don't need it right now and could liquidate it, but why would I? I don't have a use for the gold either. I will in a few weeks or months, but not right now, and I never know when or what materials I'll need.

Not only that. Never underestimate the unidentified gear. You easily get an extra 2~3 gold out of Octovine just due to all the unidentified rares it drops.

I agree. Cus I mean........... you're going to buy materials anyway with that gold (most of the time). But it would be worth selling some of them tho to direct all your material (or liquid) gold to the item you're making.

One hidden point of profit fractals gives you is stabilizing matrices. They are currently 27 silver each and they stack up quite fast if you do fractals daily. I sold a bit over two stacks of them for 150 gold or so. Just make sure you do not need them for anything as they are used for certain things.

Coming from years of WoW this was a shocker. My characters in wow each had a few thousand gold and Gw2 my entire account has under 100. So I understand why new players feel like they are behind. But gold means more here but that also means it takes a bit more time to get. I find it much more interesting when I get those lucky drops. Pushing me ever closer to that shiny new legendary!

I had 400 gold when I started to buy the rest for Exordium. I needed 500g more so I sold 1-2 stacks of everthing and made nearly 500g. It just ads up if you farm and collect everything.

My favorite "brain afk" grind is actually the Bauble farm runs in Auric Basin. Every time the [Shiny Bauble] is the map bonus reward (every 3 or 4 weeks or so?), there are many squads running this. Basically you just run around AB, doing events as they pop up, using wallows, mounts and waypoints to fast-travel around just in time for the next event to start. The runs are so optimized that you basically have zero downtime there (and it can happen that when you get into combat at the wrong time, you miss an event completely), but the routes the squads run are very static and after 2 or 3 loops you know them. This can get you somewhere around 50 [Shiny Baubles] between every two metas, which sell for 25G. Of course there's also tons of other loot, and you get to do the Meta in a very organized squad as well, which gives you more loot. After that, just leave, or run with the commander for another hour of [Shiny Bauble] farming 😀

Great video, I think a lot of people tend to forget that the journey is as important as the destination, if not more important! Being rewarded for playing the things you like is the best feeling.

This video is really good because it shows how much of content variety GW2 has to offer, even if they aren't the most profitable on the table they are still worth if you enjoy that type of content.

My biggest realisation for making gold in GW2 was just not spending gold. I used to waste so much gold (still do tbh) and didn’t realise how quickly it adds up from even general when I’m not constantly spending it.

So much this! I was the same at the start, got really intimidated for like 3 years before I finally made Bifrost. Now, couple years later, I was shocked when I realised that so far I've crafted 38 legendary items, also 10 of which in the last 2 months. Doing the things you listed gets you surprisingly far surprisingly quickly. Just try not to spend gold while farming :D

I absolutly love this game man, you can litterally do anything you want to make gold, especially if you have all the maps and stuff, you can litterally just pick and choose what you want to do for the day, it will always be entertaining. i just wish it was easier to find people on LFG for Strikes, Dungeons and Fractals as a noobie.

My own rotation is somewhat similar, but I add on top playing a bit of trading post. Nothing too fancy, just some quick daily flipping stuff. Whenever there is some wait time during any metas or waiting for squad member, I open the tp and flip flip flip :)

I played Guild Wars 2 at Launch for a couple months in 2012 (holy it's been 10 years what) and I barely recognize the game apart from the aesthetics. Found Lara many years after I had quit, but the many videos she puts out makes the game look like a great time. Not sure why a gold-making guide sparked my interest again but I might as well check out the game again and see what's been going on.

Only thing I can recommend: Start a new character, let the game come at you one element at a time. Rejoining at maxlevel is just hitting you in the face with everything at once xD

I think its worth mentioning pvp also if its your cup of tea. At the start of tournaments especially you can get amazing rewards and decent amount of gold :) Not to mention the pvp daily can be super quick for 2 gold extra :)

I agree with the "Do content you actually enjoy" thing, it's is a great way to summarize gold farming in GW2 Thing with this game is that almost all endgame PvE content earns you gold via materials, just doing a few meta events a day, maybe the daily fractals and strikes, and daily achievements can earn you easily over 10 or 15 gold without thinking about and possibly double that depending on the metas. I know that doesn't sound like much, but it's without even thinking about gold farming, it's a background thing, think when you farming verdant brink for exotic gear and you earn unidentified gear.

absolutely agree. Pick a goal to go for but don't grind at getting it. Try lots of different achievements and content and the gold will come passively. You're probably richer then you recon! GW2 has a lot of do this event once daily for maximum roll its nice as long as you dont turn it into a rut. Yes it may be efficicent to do this but give yourself a day off or change tasks every so often

I never really understood gold till a month ago.. I signed up to Gw2 effiency then tracked what I was picking up.. Turns out I hoard far too much, stuff that I can make gold from.. Had 75g 4 weeks ago, now I have 5,000g. The hard part is trying not to burn yourself out!

For really quick meta (same as the Matriarch in HoT meta), you also have the Piñata PoF meta event in Oasis (the first map of PoF). It appear at xx:20 but just need to join a map a little 5-10min before. Be careful, it takes 20sec to kill the Piñata, so don't miss it 😛

Another good farming place and often overlooked one is dungeons runs. You get guaranteed 5 gold at the end and some tokens you can convert into armor or others you can get some ecto. What's nice is you can do the story dungeons parts and they count for that reward.

Dungeon runs were great with a competent group just rushing through. We used to call them "dungeon tours". We'd have several daily groups rushing through every dungeon, all paths. After the final nerf to dungeon path rewards, people just aren't doing it anymore, for many years now. Pugging it won't yield anything close to being decent gold/hour.

@@Bzk-- So there is an achievement Dungeon Frequenter that keeps track and give you the gold. you need to complete 8 dungeons. The thing is that you can do the story bits and they also count and those are very simple. But for parts from dungeons they vary in difficulty. Some have their own little gimmicks. From my experience Caudecus Manor and Inquest ones are the simplest to do(so if you'd do the story and all 3 parts of those you get 8). The achievement does reset and in you can repeat it but for other different dungeons.

That is 5 gold for completing 8 unique/ different dungeon runs. Story runs count. This is repeatable. Note: each dungeon run also awards 65 silver or more liquid gold. That is once per day, you get less for the next run of that run in the same day.

How I farm my gold: Log into accounts, get daily, log off, don't touch until 24h later. Currently I lost my motivation to play, however I plan to come back at some point and then the T6 mats (from laurels) will help a lot I guess

CMs fractals are worth a ton of gold once you got the title since you can trade integrated fractal matrix for 10 keys (so 3 CMs are 30 box + 30 keys). You can also do it if you don't care saving them for title. You can also trade them for +5 stats infusions.

I feel richer already!

Fractals are really a good gold earner. Of course i lost a lot of gold to crafting and buying ascended gear, let alone leveling lw to 500 the wrong way, but they are actually so much fun. The progress of attuning bit by bit with AR to higher tiers is so well done from AN.

You need to level max all crafting disciplines anyway, even if you don't craft ascended gear.

Small little tip in case you do fractals: Infuse rings before salvage. Fractals, especially higher tiers, tend to give Ascended Earrings and Rings. These can come pre-attuned and/or pre-infused. In case they are not infused, infuse them before the salvage. It costs a little over 26 silver, but the lowest return is 1 Stab Matrix (which currently sits at a 26s buy order at the time of writing), which already returns the cost, and it has a chance to become 2, 5, 10 or even 20(!) Stab Matrices in return!

Also, don't know if I was just lucky but this week alone I got 2 bundles of 5 asc salvage kits from the daily fractal chests. So if RNG-sus is on your side you get even more gold from this trick :)

Ah well, exactly how i used to do it before i got my puppy xD every day T4 + rec and the hot metas and the gold just went into my pocket - i made my first legy very late too, but i also had most of the components due to just playing the game for 10 years. But i didnt know about the trading things, ty! i really need a summary about worthy trading currency.

I farmed SW for a week or so, 8+ hours each day, back before HoT came out because there was an item that dropped (very rarely) in SW that gave you early access into the HoT beta. Of course I didn't get the item, but I still feel the pain each day that SW gathering is in the daily rotation ;-)

I'd say the 2 most important ways to get gold is to put some of the moneymakers in your routine and to not focus on making gold, but to let it naturally accumulate. I personally make sure to login daily for the login reward (2.5g/day). I've also got 10 alts parked at some reward chests (5g/5min). I join a random full home for some gathering (3g/5min).I make sure to do a daily bjora marches chest run (3g/5min) IBS 5 (5g/20 min)DS (4.5g/10 min) and i make sure to do all cantha strikes atleast 1 time per week (18g/30 min). I use my ley line converter and gleam of sentience for some daily HoT keys and loot (1g/day). I also make sure to collect the weekly antique summoning stones (25g/week) and do the daily skillpoint in arborstone. It basically averages out to 30g/day for 50 minutes of playtime. Doing any other activity (CM's, raids, meta events, dungeons, fractals) is just the cherry on top. By the way, its also worth mentioning that crafting legendary weapons is a great moneymaker. Aslong as you have plenty karma/skillpoints/dungeon tokens all you need to get is a gift of battle and gift of exploration. Especially for WvW players this is a good moneymaker since they'll naturally accumulate their gifts of battle over time. Every map completion awards 2 gifts of exploration which can be used to make legendary weapons for roughly 600-700g profit per finished legendary.

I didn't make any legendaries for the first six years I played. Consequently, I've been able to make several since, because I had a lot of mats already in storage. The drawback is that by the time I started doing this, I already had 70 level 80 toons fully dressed in ascended - so all that ascended gear is now junk. If I had it to do over, I would have started much sooner.

Laraity is so proud of their legendary that they reminded us 3 times. Proud of you too!

my daily routine is to do chak gerant->octovine->DBS->drakkar ddo 1-2 hours of drizzlewood or dragonfall and finish the day with rounds 1-3 and pinata, i absolutly love endless grinding of drizzlewood or dragonfall, and wednesdays i just run raids and strikes :P

Small tip, open 30 fractal boxes every day. By doing some fractals you can get the coins for the keys and sometimes you have enought to open 30 boxes for a week without doing fractals :)

You can buy the trophy shipments from the chili vendor right next to the lws4 currency trader in EotN ;-)

I only play from monday to friday and farm around 250 gold every week with my rotation, been pretty consistent for the past 2 months :)

I get meta train notifications from Discord servers. These community events not only provide the variety to deter the feeling of monotony of farming, they gather a lot of people which scale up metas (especially Chamber in Sandswept Isles) making them more profitable.

@@laurentpecriaux1345 [fast] runs trains on EU region. For both regions, Hardstuck has train notification on events channel and gw2overflow on choo-choo-alerts channel.

One tip i would also throw out there is alt parking if you have some old characters that you don't play very often park them at a chest and log on to that char once a day to get some nice rewards very little commitment. I guess i wouldn't call alt parking fun but it can take less than 5 mins so it doesn't bother me to much.

If you could make one major balance change (something big like reworking a skill or trait), what would it be?

i kept looking for the best ways to get gold not realiazing i was already getting like 100+ gold in a week by doing the contents i enjoy. it's not as much as other people get but not being bored while doing those contents really is an upside for me i do augry rock > casino > chak > octovine meta rotation. then do t2 fractals to get atleast 30 fractal encryptions and buy the cheap keys. i also do dragonstorm and tequatl. i wanna try and do more strikes and do raids for the first time

Silverwastes is my happy place. I'm not even bothered if I don't have a great squad to join up with. I'm not a fan of group content, and the collective of "solo" toons makes a worthy team for the RIBA farm. Plus, I enjoy gambling on the salvaging process enough that I will even buy stacks of unidentified gear hoping to turn a profit on the mats (usually lost money, but it's still fun). For me, it's the SW all the way.

And this is just doing things casually. If you delve deeper into the gold making world, you can further boost those gains without doing much more work.

Another thing you forgot to mention: If you have End of Dragons and really need some extra gold, max out the Arborstone Revitalization mastery line. The last tier "Globalization" adds a legendary component vendor to Arborstone which sells you up to 5 Antique Summoning Stones per week for various currencies, which sell for roughly 5 gold each on the trading post. Some of these exchanges, like buying one for 1G or 7000 karma are absolute no-brainers and the others are still worth it if you just need liquid gold quickly. If you're not planning to make any EoD legendaries any time soon and run at least one EoD strike mission weekly, that is basically 25 free extra gold per week.

My way of earning gold is absolute crap but it's funny so I thought I'd share. I dismantle everything that ends up in my inventory, and when deposit all materials no longer works I go to LA and withdraw the stack of 250 from my material storage and sell in bulk. I do this for EVERY material.

I totally agree with your, I also just play what I enjoy every week and my Gold passively increases without me checking it every few minutes or thinking about what I should do next to earn more. Once you find your routine of doing things consistently every week you will soon start to realise how low effort it takes to increase your Gold.

I do low-tier fractals sometimes but instanced content makes me feel really anxious. I'm always afraid that I'm going to upset the other players by being a scrub. I might try those "easy three" strike missions, though. Thanks for the tips.

What is upseting is the ton of players doing 5k dps in meta event and getting carried by a few because they never tried to learn how to play properly, and you can learn only in instanced content since you can't say "hey there are 50+ players on the map, doesn't matter if I suck".

In this game you get rich buying alt accounts, even if you do nothing and only log in, the daily reward is about 50 gold per month both with mystic coins and laurels converted in tier 6 mats; use GW2 launch butty and it's quite easy and time saving to log in. People like Mightyteapot have over 50 alt accounts and make money mostly like this

Interesting video and absolutely nothing in it sounds interesting to me except doing Dragonstorm lol But that's a strength of GW2, there are many different options to reach the same goal. I'm more casual and don't have nearly the amount of time you do to run fractals and such everyday but I still make sufficient gold through alt-parking, daily gathering of home instance nodes and crafting/TP selling. Also you can watch Netflix while fishing? I find GW2's fishing mechanic too distracting to do anything else, it needs constant attention to get any fish - does fishing become more automatic when you get all the masteries? This is one case where I very much prefer WoW's system, the fishing in WoW was more relaxing and felt much more like fishing rather than constantly doing that minigame.

I recently got back to playing GW2 again after a long break. I decided to grind for Skyscale and in order to get enough map currencies, i decided to finish "Return to Living World" achievements. In doing so, i joined lots of map events and i can't describe how fun was that! It's also a good gold source. Got a lot of materials. I was so intimidated by the grind but this is literally the first MMO i actually enjoyed the grind. Now i'm about to be finished with map currencies. Just waiting for my little baby to grow up in 2 days.

Lol I basically did the same thing. Started playing again last year. Didn't even have Griffin yet. Now have Griffin, skyscale, the amulet, vision, and aurora.

So true making gold is about what you find fun. For me it's just doing dailies on 5 accounts and full home instance and the parked toons your not using. Takes me about 2 hours, but gives me the freedom to do them in 10mins chunks of time if I choose. Where doing metas, fractals just too time consuming and boring with repetitive hack and slash. As for the volatile spending I make 0 money doing that. I either break even or lose up to 25s, same with unstable magic. Specially the unstable magic, I make more money selling the pearls, rubies, wood etc, to the vendor then I do consuming them to buy trophies lol

I still like dungeons... and T4 fractals, but I am glad I dropped Raids and CMs. Also playing time dropped a bit... I played gw2 or was logged in for 8k hours the first few years. But I've been between 14k and 15k hours for the past 3 years, kids and a life prevent some things. I have not done 1 EoD meta yet, I have not even finished the story... Honestly I returned to vanilla and started playing with my daughter, she was 2 at launch, and 12 now, my previous pc got a GPU upgrade and I got myself an upgrade (3rd PC I played gw2 on). We did AC story for funsies. I own 35 or so ascended armors and a leggy armor, 2 bolts,kudzu,pharus, nevermore, bifrost,howler,rodgort, shooshadoo,meterologicus,2 legendary backs and honestly in the end the main thing is having fun. gold, ascended or leggy is trivial. having 3 leggy armor, trinkets, runes, and sigils leave you at a point where you completely defeated all content or boundries. Leaving you with fun in the end. I found myself clinging to binding of ipos, but It is my final goal, next to helping my daughter get a skyscale. 10 years... I also played gw1 :) I have 6 characters over 10 yr old now...

Remember to buy your weekly ASSes that's an easy +30g/week

I love to make gold by crafting & selling legendaries but it got to the point where I run out of spirit shards and I need more lol. For the spirit shards I do T4/Recs/CM Fractals, Strikes, & Raids plus some HoT meta since I do need the special materials for raid armor.

@@gontrandjojo9747 You can certainly craft legendaries for gold. There are sites like gw2efficiency that tells you the crafting cost and profit for both precursors and legendaries. At the time of writing this all gen 1 & gen 3 legendaries can be crafted for profit, and all gen 3 precurors plus a couple of gen 1 precursors (Rage and Dusk) can be crafted for profit.

@@Salamandr0 Ty Captain Obvious. My point is: make gold to have legendaries is a better goal than make legendaries to have gold.

@@gontrandjojo9747 Ty for sharing a personal opinion that doesn't necessarily matches everyone elses :P

Been doing PvP and WvW since they were available.. I have one full set of leggy armor, + one other leggy armor piece and one leggy amulet and back item. The grind is horrible. Still... I would not want to do any PvE to get my leggies.

Oh oh ... Is fishing in the core base game? or is expansions ?

Great video, although I personally don't have even close to that amount of time to play, if someone does it's absolutely worthwhile. I wish WvW was more profitable 😒

Ironically, I just made my first Legendary last week after all these years, since launch, and it was also The Minstrel.

I don't acquire gold to craft legendaries, I do it so I can hear my character say "That's VALUABLE" like it's the first shiny thing he's ever seen. Edit: Wanted to ask a question for the Q&A video! IF they were going to add another mount to the game, what would you want it to be? What type of creature (or machine?) would it be? And what type of unique movement would it introduce?

my fav farm is zerging in wvw or just PPTing with random peps, i know is kinda boring but better than farm SW 12hours

Not exactly related but i just have to say this. I feel like I'm the only person who thinks Twisted Marionette is boring. I've seen people complain about it being too hard and I've seen others say it's a great fight. The way I see it, the only intersting part is when you are on a platform and fight a miniboss. But most of the Twisted Marionette is just waiting for your turn while fighting waves of normal enemies. I think it would be way more fun if you perhaps just have a smaller group but everyone gets to be on the platforms for all of the stages. I don't mind if people don't agree with me. I just felt like I needed to vent about it. x)

Personally, I just do not care that much about gold. I chase achievements and while doing so I also end up making gold. I very rarely do something just for gold, I usually do it for those sweet achievements points.

I like WvW, I get SOOOO many spikes!
