💜 ABOUT ME:
Hi and welcome! I'm Tanya and the only thing I like more than learning languages is probably talking about learning languages (well, that and hoarding language books).
My native language is Russian and I'm currently in different stages of learning English, Spanish, Polish, Italian, Korean, and Japanese.

At the beginning on January I decided on a whim to take CAE exam in mid February. For 7 weeks I focused solely on preparation. I passed with grade B, C1, 199 points 💪 I took a long break from studying. All together around 5 weeks. Now, I’m going strong on my Brazilian Portuguese:) I feel like I’m ready to simply maintain my level on English with a clean conscious, and focus on Portuguese. I live in New Zealand currently with my Brazilian husband, and I’m Polish ;)

@@tbenavente Yes, we do :) We use mostly English between us, but our goal is Polish-Portuguese household:) We’ll stay in NZ for another year, and then we move to another country. After reaching strong B1 level in Portuguese, I plan to start Russian.

I really want to study Japanese and Chinese, but since I'm already studying Spanish (and maintaining my English - I'm Brazilian), I chose to just study Spanish this year. I've improved a lot; consuming content in Spanish is not hard for me, so I spent around 60 hours watching KZread videos and listening to podcasts. My goal now is to start reading and writing more - I already speak while watching videos or randomly during the day.

I struggled for so long to find an Italian grammar book that felt suitable for self studying. I tried both the ones you mentioned too. Last year I found “Nuova Grammatica pratica della lingua italiana” by Susanna Nocchi. And it’s perfect for me. It covers A1 - B2 (There is a more advanced book as well), is structured really nicely and has a good mix of exercise types. (Perfect for solo learners as there are no group activities like many text books.) I use this book to guide my studies, and the McGraw Hill books for extra exercises on the more difficult topics if i feel I need more practice.

That's really good to know! I actually have the "“Nuova Grammatica..." but unfortunately I left it back in Russia and at this point it would be cheaper to buy a new one than to send mine here to the US. But your comment makes it sound like continuing with the book might actually be worth it, so I guess I'll try to figure out how to get hold of it!

Hi! When you open LingQ on your computer, there's a plus icon in the top right corner. Click it and choose "import ebook" and then choose an ebook that is one of the supported formats. LingQ will break it down into smaller chunks ("lessons") and create a "course" based on the book.

So I use TogglTrack to track my studies and they present your data as graphs/pie charts, so you don't even have to do anything extra besides tracking your study time. But, for more customization, I exported my data from Toggl as a .csv file, put it in Google Spreadsheets and just tweaked some settings like colors/fonts a little bit to create the pie charts you see in the video
