    I don’t suppose you have any tips specifically about preventing and reversing nails gradually separating from the nail bed? I really try not to use my nails as tools, occasionally they get stuck on something and then get pulled on which obviously I try to avoid. But besides that I don’t have much choice but to use my hands a lot, especially washing them and sanitizing them for my job. I think this is causing some problems for my nail beds. Any advice???

    i think i don't only speak for myself - i really appreciate that you share your own experience and the results that have worked for you. so many "professional" nail channels and websites, and so many channels and websites that just copy and paste the information they find on the internet are so uninformed and harmful to those of us trying to learn. you're openness to share what you know is really helpful and i know it's something so small like nails, but not only is it a creative outlet for is that you're helping us maintain and keep healthy, but you're being such a wonderful example to the world that doing your own research and taking your time to experiment and make a few mistakes is how you find the best and most worthwhile results. thank you, i really appreciate your work and the time you put into offering your own unique wisdom for this world. more and more of you keep popping up and it's a beautiful thing to witness. all the best to you and your future💓

    Well this was eye opening! I went through a phase where I was constantly using gel polish but I was totally botching the removal process and my nails were absolutely destroyed as a result. I've been keeping regular polish on them which requires repainting my nails every 2-3 days and they're finally healthy again (still short but at least the plate is healthy). I'm seriously thinking I'm going to try again and do it right this time!

    Try Sally Hansens miracle gel. Which is a gel/ polish hybrid and is 2 step. My manicure lasts about a week and a half without chipping. I also double up on the base coats too and use a calcium base first and then Sally Hansens hard as nails which is super grippy and holds onto the color. Massaging and keeping the cuticles hydrated helps too, as well as keeping nail beds and undersides clean. Its a long process sometimes but you fall into a rhythm with it. Let me know if you try this :)

    This video has helped me so much! Started my nail journey with this video a month ago, and all my nails are passed my finger length already! Majority of my nails had broken off before I started my nail journey from being snagged on stuff, and peeling which makes them even thinner. My nails are basically paper thin, and after a certain length they just break or peel off since they had zero protection before and I never used cuticle oil. This video has helped me build some good habits, like using cuticle oil and wearing gloves when doing dishes. The best thing for my nails was using gel nail polish to keep them strong and reinforced to prevent them from breaking. I still wear regular nail polish on top of my gel nail polish, since I love the regular nail polish that I already have. The regular nail polish doesn't last more than a few days to a week before it comes off my nail in one sheet, but it's fine since it gives me an excuse to paint my nails again with a new style, but the gel nail polish stays on strong as long as I don't use the peely gel base. I'm so glad I found this video, it's been a game changer for me, and I can't wait to have really long natural nails for once. 😊

    Try Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant on your proximal folds. I brush it on then I top it with cuticle oil before I fall asleep, and I wake up with hand-model hands. Back in 2020 when I stopped going to the salon, I watched a couple of your vids and based on your tutorials and excellent descriptions (verbal and written) decided to go with Gelish. I've ONLY used Gelish since then. To begin with I was removing all the gel in between manicures with nail wraps, but I was doing serioussss damage to my natural nails, so about a year ago I decided to suck it up and learn to do fill-ins. Now, with the exception of filling in instead of full removal and starting from scratch, I do my nails exactly the same way you do yours. Well, I usually shorten and shape my nails while the old manicure is still on there, THEN I file the bulk off and reapply, so almost exactly. But that leads me to wonder when do you shorten yours, while you shape them after you've applied the Structure? Do you use a 180 grit hand file for the whole shortening process, or do you start with nail trimmers? I am so incredibly grateful for your videos, my nails have NEVER grown this long without bending, breaking, lifting...it's insane how many times I struggled with broken nails when I used to get acrylics at the salon (also, can I just say it is SO ANNOYING when you ask a nail tech to give you gel nail enhancements and they pull out the acrylic powder and the liquid and look you in the face to say 'yes, these are gel nails' No, my sister in christ, these are acrylic nails with GEL NAIL POLISH. I couldn't find a nail tech willing to use all gel and that is RIDICULOUS. *rant over, sorry). Now I'm so obsessed with how good my nails look, (I do one coat of Structure in pink topped with one in clear, then a clear top coat which gives my nails a sort of Dior look) I cannot stop admiring them. It's almost embarrassing. Thank you so, so much.

    I used to have long healthy nails when I was in high school and loved them. Fast forward to college I started to work at Subway and the constant hand washing and gloves made them think and brittle and anytime they grew out they peeled like onions. Trying to grow them out again. So far I’m succeeding but being careful. I ALWAYS have the painted and and apply cuticle oil. I also ALWAYS carry a glass mail file incase I get a swagged edge which normally I would tear off lol I have big hands and wide nail beds so I can’t wait until they are a little longer and I can shape them almond

You are the bomb, dear one!!! I love your rings too!!! God speed and God bless!!!

    I have this video saved and I’ve watched it so many times already, it’s so therapeutic! I need to practice putting on super thin coats like you so my nails don’t look bulky after 3 layers. Also, I really wish I could find Cold White gel polish, but sadly, Amazon doesn’t seem to have it and I can’t find it on the in hype website either. But I’ve purchased a couple of their other colors and I’m loving them!

    I can grow out my nails but they've been pretty flimsy my whole life. I figured gel or full cover tips glued on would help but I'm so impatient with the removal process and its caused my nails to be worse than they were. I'm trying to start back on a journey with growing out my natural nails in a healthy way. I'm interested in your opinion on using hard gel/builder gel to help grow out nails. Either way, hoping to implement these tips in my nail routine!!!

    Best video for a new gel user! I love how you show each step and explain how each product works. I am trying for the first time in my 60 year old life to grow my natural nails and I'm taking your tips and tricks. Only suggestion I have is to slow down a bit when you are showing the bottles of something so that we can get a better look at the bottle, the name and what the product is called. I try to write them down so that I can use what is tried and true. Love love love this videa!

    Beautifully done. I use to go to the nail salon and get gels over my nails. But they refused to not file my nails beds down which ruined my nail beds. Would love to be able to do my own like you’re doing. You so right, at the age of 62, my nails are so dry now and I constantly am applying CereVe Healing Ointment and or a hydrating oil, but I do need to go to Sally’s and purchase the oils specifically for nails. Thank you so much for an in depth tutorial of gels.

    It’s true. Whenever I use gel nail polish my nails grow longer but over time they thin out because I don’t remove it properly. I hated removing gel with acetone and frequently would just peel it off. Of course with that nail layers were sacrificed. I’ll try your methods of removing gel polish. Thank you

Question…after you remove the inhibition layer of tue structure gel and filing…does another thin base coat get applied before the gel polish color for adherence? Would it need something to ‘grip’ to? Thank you for this! I love your channel and this video so much! I thought id share that i learned from other nail tech videos that scraping can be bad for the nail plate as well as acetone so i thought id share in case you wanna try something else, i think those nail techs have pretty much recommended just filing to the base layer, gently filling off anything that's lifted/lifting and then restart the cleaning and then gel process from there? 🤷🏼‍♀️

  • @TheBeautyVault

    @TheBeautyVault

    Жыл бұрын

    a nail tech will be able to file down to the natural nail effortlessly cause they’re pros but i wouldn’t recommend that to someone who is just starting out or not as savvy. they could easily file all the way down to their natural nail and right through it if not careful, so i always recommend just erring on the side of caution. i sometimes do what the nail techs do depending on what product is on my nails, but scraping isn’t necessary if you soak long enough. thank you for watching! 💘

    This is so exciting! As a girl who has always wanted to learn how to take care of her natural nails and also do at-home DIY nail art and manicures, this gives me hope! I started taking DIY home manicures more seriously these past couple of years. It's so much fun!!! I feel pampered when I do it and I feel more encouraged that I, myself can get the tools that I need (LED lamp, e-file) and learn how to work with them myself. I daydream about possibly taking classes, but... I would just end up using it on myself because I love taking care of my hands and nails so much!!! I'm lucky my nails do grow out well, but I want to try and get them as long as yours one day, so I have to keep up with moisturizing my nails! I do have a question though, you moisturize your nails in the video, but then you dry out the entire nail before you put the polish on. I've heard that it helps your manicure/the color/polish last longer, but I also worry about over-drying my nails. How does that work? I feel like it's almost taking a step backward. But this is such an awesome video, and like... I want all the tools now to help perfect my nails!!!! 😊😊😊😊

  • @MonaAlicia

    @MonaAlicia

    That and it's like, every time I go to a nail salon... My gel polish always peels, (and sometimes burns my nail under the lamp) and it's because they layer it on too thick, so I had lost all hope of getting my nails done at a salon other than regular nail polish. 😭 (Also creates a nasty habit of me just peeling my nail color off) And part of me wants to experiment using gel polish (real gel polish) at home so that I can be in control and learn how to apply the polish correctly. And I like your method of prepping your natural nails clear with the base products first before applying the color.

    @@Anitamustdie If the gel touches your skin and you leave it on too long, you will eventually gain the allergy. I also have it after messing around with gel when I was 18 Edit: I didn’t specify, but if the liquid gel touches your skin is what I meant. Before it is cured. It can also happen if you don’t fully cure your nails
