Quality content. I'm exactly at the beginning of your trajectory today, with the same age (and even the same name as you lol, João is the same as John's in Portuguese), I'm 27 today and this year I'm leaving the company where I spent 4 years campaigns for digital marketing, leading an entire team and launching online courses here in Brazil. From August I will start my career as a freelancer, I already have in mind the niche that I will attack initially but your content is coming at the right time in my life, thank you very much for sharing. Success

What an awesome and inspiring story, John. Goes to show how things in life sometimes start taking form. I'm on that journey right now. Migrated from my home country to The Netherlands 7 years ago to obtain my Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. During that time I also did an internship (All-rounder: Sales, operations, marketing etc.) at a co-working space that housed a lot of companies in the digital space: marketing, web design, game development, you name it. It grabbed my attention when I saw one of the other interns who was responsible for the company's website, adding content within the WordPress CMS and live publishing it for the world to see. After talking to him, he suggested me some videos I could watch to get familiar with Wordpress design. I've been at it for about 4 years now, constantly learning. A few years ago I decided to take the freelance route and did my first website build for my mother-in-law, after which business just started rolling in! Business has been slow the last year, which caused me to spiral downwards a bit. My family then insisted on me visiting my home country, which I hadn't visited in 3 years, to re-energize. Took a leap of faith and booked a ticket for a 2-month stay. It was the best choice ever. I coincidentally met with the CEO of one of the biggest IT companies in our region, with departments in South America and Europe after a night out. The day after, I was casually browsing a job board and saw the company had put out a job offer. I applied (knowing I was at a disadvantage, as I had no real IT-background), managed to pass all 3 interview rounds and will start my 3 month traineeship as a business application developer next month, after which I will take on the role as Junior App Consultant I still have the dream of growing my agency, but this opportunity really felt like an omen, as I will be surrounded and working with IT-professionals and develop my skills as a young professional. The lesson for me is that it all started out as a hobby, leading to me learning certain skills, which were beneficial for me even getting a chance to get be considered for the position. As for what will happen next, we'll just see were the journey takes me...

Love the story man, but it seems that everyone that eventually niched down had to go through a series of other aspects of the job before actually deciding to narrow down based on what they like and what works best for them and their business. With that being said, do you think that we should start with niching down or we should try doing at least 3 to 5 things and seeing what we work with best before diving into niching down and laser in on that niche?

Good question, Ricardo! Try different things. You'll learn in the process and niche down to your favorites!

Hey John, truth be told you’re a hardworking man and that’s our soul purpose here on for every man! Your story is really inspiring! Well, I’m in a position where I’m actually good at 3 good things. 1. As a web designer 2. Forex Trader & 3. E-commerce I sell home and phone accessories. But I’ve never worked a 9-5. And at the same time I find myself successful in these 3 areas. But now things are really slow in them all. But what I find out is that no2 which is forex moves kinda fast when I approach people with this skills and want to teach them how to trade in the forex market. Do you think I should drop the other 2 bcos I’ve also got a web design agency but mainly on Ecomm website for small businesses also successful. I’m just lost on which I should continue with bcos it’s really confusing. What can I do please?
