My only question is that we have a bunch of organisations running here,does working with them help ? Second, how important is research during the undergrad period backhome ? I love you videos and it made a lot of things clear to me. Please keep up the good work. I had one doubt. You mentioned that the CREST form has to be signed by a GMC registered consultant only. But the website mentions that it can be signed by any consultant who has relevant registration in their home country if they have supervised my work. Also, I think the website also mentions that it does not necessarily have to be a consultant but can be signed by a ST5+ doctor as well if they have supervised our work for 3 months within the last 3.5 years. Could you please clarify this?

    You don’t “need” to work.. it’s advisable to work to get the hang of the system, your responsibilities and what’s expected of you. Once you enter CT, you are already expected to know things and it can then affect your ARCP(appraisal) if you don’t progress satisfactorily in CT.

If you dont mind me asking, how long were you at your non training job prior to entering specialty training? I intend to do specialty training in either neurology or paediatrics (with an intention to further specialize in paeds neuro) and I was wondering if it's possible to get CREST competencies signed off in these specialties as nontrainee or would you recommend doing a more general field like a&e or medicine? Thank you so much!

However, mostly each part of UKMLA will be like corresponding parts of PLAB as per current information available on GMC website. Please always check GMC as it’s your best bet for all the information.

    Hello Hargobind. Starting from CT1 - you will be taking 6 yrs to become a consultant psychiatrist assuming one clears MRCPSy exam. Once you clear MRCPsy then you enter into the specialist register and you are a consultant. However if one doesnt clear, then you can still work but you would not be a consultant psychiatrist.

    Hey Dr.! Could you tell me if someone has a mental condition such as bipolar disorder and is controlled in nature but due to any emotional or psychological or physical triggers the person has an episode of bipolar again in the uk while his medical training period, will that lead to termination of his training or will he be given proper treatment by the NHS and then will be allowed to complete his training for the same?

  • @gloriaalva8781

    @gloriaalva8781

    2 жыл бұрын

    Dear Nihit. Usually NHS is very supportive. However this brings us to the point of fitness to practice. I will try and give a very balanced opinion as its not just about the said doctor, it is also about the pts they would be responsible for. Higher trainees are expected to work independently and once nearing completion they are often asked to cover for consultants. After recovery, assuming the person has had a good recovery, assessments will be done to resume practice as they would be dealing with mentally unwell pts who are very vulnerable. So the answer is, yes , to a certain degree however on the other hand the univ/deanery is under no obligation to have someone as doctor if too much of resources are required to support their training and more so if the recovery is partial and is accompanied by relapses/mini relapses. Best Wishes.

    Does the score in msra exam decide the speciality we get to choose ??

  • @drmonishamishra

    @drmonishamishra

    3 жыл бұрын

    Nope. It contributes towards the overall score like I explained. You apply all the specialities you would like to be considered for.. then give your interview + do the OSCE bit in interview. Then total score is calculated. After which you rank the universities you would like to get offer from. Then you wait if you get offered from your list of choices. So, it kind of contributes towards the speciality you want to choose. But not as a factor amongst specialities. If that makes sense!

    You don’t need to give MSRA to give royal college exams. MSRA is the pathway to enter core/speciality training for the mentioned specialities. Every speciality has a different pathway to enter training. Secondly, royal college exams have got nothing to do with MSRA. Royal college exams are membership exams and not a degree. I can not call anything from here is equivalent to exams in India as you only have one exam to do pg(India) which only lasts for 3 years. That’s it! Just a suggestion.. but, I think for your own clarity don’t mix them up by finding similarities in the system as there are none.
