  • @RoadToUK

    The person specifications for a specialty level (ST3+) post states you must complete a post graduate exam such as MRCP/MRCS/etc depending on the specialty. It doesn't matter if you were a consultant in your home country if you do not meet the requirements for the UK.

My only question is that is it hard for a freshly graduated individual to find a job after clearing all the hurdles and getting the GMC registration? Is it really difficult for them to find jobs or you can find a job if you apply for jobs relevant to your experience level(I.e. FY1 and FY2). Thank you.

I am a plastic surgeon consultant in Brazil since 2009. I got my GMC register with license in 2021, and I would like to apply for a plastic surgery job (I don´t mind if it is a Trainee or Junior job). I just want to have a chance to work in NHS. Hello . After graduating and finishing and internship , I've completed a 3 year MD internal medicine degree course in India and 1 year after that. I was looking to get into specialty training in the UK eventually. I've completed MRCP 1,2 and PACES. If I understand correctly , I can start off at a non training ST3 post and then get into training after gaining some UK experience right?. Is it possible to acquire an ST3 post ( training /non training) given my experience or will I have to take a CT post ? I would be greatful for your opinion . Thanks

  • @RoadToUK

    @RoadToUK

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hello! Yes that's correct. Yes you can obtain an ST3 post, but for training you'd need to get your alternative core competencies signed off first, and we'd typically recommend starting in a non training post initially to understand the system first.

    What training are you looking to apply for? Before applying for a core level or run through training, you need the equivalent foundation competencies (CREST) signed off and only some specialties will have an exam as part of their recruitment process. Thank you so much Dr Ibreez! Your blog and videos have been extremely helpful in this journey :) I have a few questions. Do NHS non-training jobs start all year round? And usually what is the time gap between the application closing date and job starting date? I mean how many months in advance should I start applying?

  • @RoadToUK

    @RoadToUK

    5 жыл бұрын

    You're very welcome :) Always glad to help! Yes they do. Typically one hears back from a job within 2 weeks of the closing date. Keeping that in mind, allow for another two weeks for interview and job accepting. CoS doesn't take as long to apply for anymore, so all you'd really be waiting for is receiving your Tier 2 visa, which can take another 2-3 weeks.
