    I gifted a cutting to my co-worker a year ago. She still has it in a water, in a mason jar, and it noticeably grew. I noticed last week that this vine had two peduncles.... My co-worker is so excited!

    I agree with the comment about mature hoyas. When I've taken clippings those clippings take years before blooming. Also when I move and the plants get shocked it takes a while for them to start growing and blooming again. Hoyas are my favorite plants. They are so forgiving and easy to care for. Thanks for your video!

    Yes that’s been my experience too! But I totally agree, while they may be slow in some areas, so many of them are so easy and forgiving to care for. Of course there is also such a huge and wonderful choice of species out there 😍 Thank you for watching and for your comment! ✨🌱

    Haha I’m glad you enjoyed, I love watching them too! Some Hoya species flowers definitely last a short period of time so I’d suggest researching that first - if not it may be something to do with the care and maybe can be changed 🥰

    I have 2 huge hoyas growing in large but fairly shallow planters up tomato-style pyramid trellises. They are outside plants on my deck, and they flower many times a year. I love them so much! (I am in Australia in a sub-tropical area)

    Hi from Australia, central victoria, where the nights get very cold. I put the heater on at about 18○ c, and they love it. I use grow lights as I have very little natural light, but the hoyas are going strong. Nice to meet you 😂

    I've had a Hindu Rope plant Hoya for almost 3 years now that has never bloomed, so thank you for these tips! Though, I mostly got it because I absolutely love the foliage, the leaves curl in a way that really looks like little ropes on vines! It lives outside and thrives and grows like crazy during the summer, but when I bring it inside during the winter, it sits by a western facing window and it grows very slowly. I wonder if maybe I need to move it to another window that gets more light!?! Im going to try that and see what happens! 🥰

    Soil mix? Also, should I repot when I bring them home from the nursery? Do they need a small, tight pot? Someone told me they don’t like to be moved, is that true? Anything you can teach about repotting or guiding their vines would be useful. Thank you for your helpful tips in this video. Also I would love if you would discuss and show some of the different varieties. I currently have four different kinds.

    Hi Amy. Great video, I have 5 different hoyas no blooms yet though. In terms of questions, I have just had my first lot of root rot on a monstera. I know where I went wrong but what do you do when this occurs? Also I don't feel right just throwing the soil so I threw it on the compost, do you feel it's OK to do this? Can the soil be left to dry out and reused? Thankyou x

    Can you tell me the soil mix you use? I did watch the whole video, sorry if I missed it. I know you said you add worm castings for some natural fertilizer. Thanks.😊 I do have a question. When you receive plant mail, do you let them dry out on their own, or repot them right away if they are wet? Mostly when I get a hoya, is when I worry.😬

  • @amyadwan

    @amyadwan

    2 жыл бұрын

    No problem, I didn’t go fully into that in the video! I mix my own soil so to be honest it’s different every time. For Hoyas I generally make something that is free draining but with some water retention - worm castings, coconut coir, bark, vermiculite, seramis and some leca balls usually✨ So when I get a new plant I try not to mess with it too much and just leave it alone. For Hoyas they definitely can be a bit wet but if the plant looks healthy, I would wait it out and monitor how long it takes to get dry. Usually they have been in that mix for a while so should be fine! If you find it’s not drying out for long you could take some action by aerating the soil and checking the roots are good! 🙏🏼

    👥️ At the beginning is that a palm tree behind her on the wall? No. Well how do you know for sure? Well, now that's a good question. What are you looking at? I'm trying to see if there's any coconuts on it. Do palm trees come that little?? Oh sure they start out little and grow big. Well I always wondered where they came from. 😁

  • @amyadwan

    @amyadwan

    Hahaha! Lots of speculation - the plant on the wall is actually a Strobilanthes dyerianus, with many lost lower leaves 😂 no coconuts here!

    In my experience Hoyas seem to like being in smaller pots, so often I will leave them for as long as I can - I will only repot them if they are drying out too fast for me, or are showing signs of suffering bc of being too rootbound. Hope that helps!

  • @amyadwan

    Normally I root Hoyas in water! Just check for rot often, make sure the water is changed every now and again. This is how I prefer to do it but they can root other ways too - test each out and see which suits you!

    Hi :) I think the Hoya you showed is a Kentiana, not a Wayetii. You can distinguish them by the color of their pedicel and peduncle. Hoya Kentiana's are pink and the Wayetii's are green. Hope I helped. Nice video (and collection)!!
