How I gained 20 yards of carry in 3 weeks... and how you can too.

Спорт

That's right, I gained 20 yards of carry and about 6 mph of club head speed in 3 weeks. In this video I tell you the story of how it happened and what I had to change in my routine to swing faster with the same, if not less, effort.

    I really appreciate how you are documenting your journey and Zak's clear and insightful instruction. I went back and re-watched several of your lesson videos which helped me understand (and fix) a major issue with my release. Getting that handle drag and not allowing the left arm to rotate at the correct time is a swing killer :(. Thank you both for this great information-keep up the great work!

    I like your channel man- Sub’d! I’ve always had the goal to get to scratch.. gotten close couple times but life would get in the way and I’d regress. Maybe I’ll try again! Really impressive how you’ve maximized your launch conditions to reach 300 from your SS. I swing 112-115 but generate so much spin that it kills my distance. Really need to fix that.

I’ve gained like 15 yards of carry and broke 90 a couple weeks ago for the first time! Keep going, posting your updates, and I’ll definitely keep watching. Would also be cool to see you post a round of golf. Interested to see how the swing changes translate on-course and how you’ll improve over time there. Keep it up!

    Very impressive speed gains! I will continue encouraging you to look into The Stack speed training system. It's phenomenal and has given me massive gains in a relatively short time. Speed training works on a different level from the strength and mobility work you are doing and is worth adding to what you are doing. Keep up the good work!

    Seems like you really have turned a corner with your release and your swing speed. The hard work is paying off! I hope you find the time to get more rounds in to enjoy it. I find it helps to do mini speed warm ups (a couple fast swings) periodically on the course to get the club speed up without over swinging.

    Great video and congrats on the speed gains. I'm confused as to why you need more speed to get to scratch when there are players out there with sub 100 mph that have minus handicaps. Is it based on you playing from the tips?

  • @ErndogGolf

    @ErndogGolf

    Thank you so much! It makes the game significantly easier when you hit it longer. It’s probably the most efficient way to get better. With 100mph club head speed, you can certainly get down to scratch but every other part of your game needs to be dialed. Extra distance gives you some room for error

    Congrats to the increase in speed, it is a process. Speed is so important that when the two best golfers ever, Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus, were asked, if they had a young kid to teach what would be the first thing you have them work on and both said speed. They both also said you can always work out the strike later but get the speed first. Cheers.

    Fascinating stuff mate. I 53, 6'2 and 13.5 stone but can't get beyond about 235 max carry (Sunday best) - roughly where you were. I am a single figure handicapper and really believe I should be hitting the ball further. I think my swing speed is about 95mph so clearly this is the issue. Thought about speed sticks, not sure though. Do you think I need a golf fitness programme then too? Your thoughts appreciated.

    I think it’ll really help! Especially if you’re thinking of doing over speed training, it’ll compliment that super well. It’ll also ensure you stay healthy while working on speed. I strongly believe you should be hitting the ball way further than you do now! At 6’2, your swing arc is significantly longer than mine!

    Erndog, I just ordered a deWiz (pronounced duh-wiz), and I've started swinging SpeedSticks, too. I'm seeing an immediate improvement even after the first session. Outstanding observation about the distance of maximum hand speed from impact!! I can't wait to experiment with that. I attended a webinar by the guys from speedsticks a few nights ago about how to optimize your off-season training that was WAY more informative than I expected. @@ErndogGolf I'm interpreting the comment about pros swinging all-out with a grain of salt. The pros have such a small contact dispersion that swinging all-out (instead of at 80%-ish) may not matter so much. For an amateur, swinging all out probably just magnifies the effect of their contact dispersion errors / mishits.

    Not to burst any bubbles, but i heard the Full Swing Simulators overestimate club head speed by about 5-6 mph... yet ball speed is meant to be fairly accurate. If you take your shot at 4:38 the clubhead speed of 110mph (strike dependant) should give around 165mph ball speed and 265 (ish) carry If you take your ball speed off the same shot at 153 mph that equates to around a 105mph clubhead...and 255yrd carry, which is pretty accurate to the other numbers given on screen..............again dependant on strike. So when using this Sim, i'd concentrate more on your ball speed and carry rather than clubhead speed. ANd your 275 carry wasnt even your fastest , but it was your most efficiant with a 1.48 smash..Finding the middle of the face more often pays off more than 2-3mph gain....but both together is money... Either way you're still above your on course speed and trending in the right direction...............Keep Grinding 🏌‍♀⛳

  • @ErndogGolf

    @ErndogGolf

    Thanks Deadly! I actually noticed from GM golf’s video over the weekend a similar trend. Ball speed seemed very accurate, but club head speed seemed higher than usual. I was still really stoked with the 162 ball speed! That’s much faster than what I’m used to seeing!
