I'm a trainee hairdresser and you did really well considering you did it on yourself! Try using your ring finger instead of you index in the scissors you have more control with them then :) great video! You're an inspirational to so many !

I cut my own hair and save hundreds per year. My hair cut is simple. A #2 Buzz cut all the way around and that's it. Takes 20 min total and looks clean. People ask me where I get it done and when I tell them I did it myself they are super impressed. I mainly started to do it myself because I was tired of waiting in line at the barber's and then getting home to realize they missed a spot or left stray hairs. Now I can do it anytime I need it and can save the money for something else.

I'm a professional barber and honestly, I've seen co-workers give a worse fade. You did everything the way a proper barber would, followed your lines/guides and blended! Looks fine to me :D

A while back I watched one of your older videos and oh my goodness do you look so good in this one. Glad you're happy, the video I watched I don't think you were far along with your transition. Happy to see how far things have come for you, don't know if you're ever going to see this but I'm happy for you ❤️

I've been cutting my own hair for about a decade and get compliments on it. You're hair looks awesome dude. I've also only fucked up when I'm trying to rush so with that you need patience. And having 2 mirrors is for sure key to getting things right when you want a nice shave.

What you said about other KZread videos on this being rubbish is so true. With COVID-19, I had to learn to cut my own hair. I just did it this morning and, as you said, basically found my own technique in the end.

I cut my own usually too. This is very relevant in 2020. I like to save some money and time so that's why I do it and I think I make it look just as good as when the hair stylist does it. The hardest for me is getting the neck line.

Awesome stuff! I did the same thing. I made a video cutting my own hair and I used a headband to do my first line for the fade. The head band really makes life easier and faster!

One great explanation. When I don't grow my hair out (which happens periodically) I just shave my own head, but I'm pretty sure I misuse the guards and the lever lol, so this was super helpful

5:24 I use fingers and tilted the scissor and start cutting randomly, I cut my top short but not to the point that the hair will stand up, I just make it textured. The one advice I heard from random youtube video that kinda gave me the final push to finally cut my own hair was "HAIR ALWAYS GROWS BACK!" so if you're about to start or mess up, just remember that, also we can always cover the mess by using hair product and style to cover it, unless we fuck up too badly lol. First time I cut my own hair, my heart pumped wondering what would my hair look like if I did this or did that. I cut without using guard tho, I just freestyle it xD , and I like my sides super short coz it's the part that will look weird first when hair grows a bit.

One tip to get even symmetrical lines in the fade section, is to use an eyeliner and draw first, and then cut to the line.

ive been cutting my own hair for maybe 3 years now. ive just been practicing on me since i know my hair grows fast and i can start agian. also since i wear a hat at work i dont have to worry about people looking at me weird because it looks odd. i love my hair even when it wants to do whatever it wants to do.

It never had anything to do with family for me and I'm insecure about my head/hair. For me it is mostly personal, though it's usually strangers that criticizes...and that's not even about my hair... It's just, you pass better with certain cuts, not just to the world, but in the mirror. Men and women do have different shaped heads after all...

Just watched this vid to cut my hair. Not for a fade but just generally short around the sides and long in the middle and it actually came out great! I think i shaved a little too close a bit but i feel so good. I am going to need two mirrors tho

More of a styling question than a cutting one, but how do you get the longer hairs on the top of your head to stick up in that way? If I don't put anything in my hair, it just lays completely flat, and if I use any kind of product (I have tried gel, mousse, and hairspray at this point) I end up with chunky spikes or an ugly mohawk-like ridge.

I have a neighbor who tried to kill himself last week. He's trans and got denied for bottom surgery due to some deficiencies in vitamins and iron. He's also got a eating disorder that I believe has something to do with him being denied too. We've asked him to live with us for a couple months since he literally lives alone. My husband and I are a heterosexual couple and we have an 8yo boy and a newborn! Although our friend is different than we are.... we have different struggles, we have love in common. He's a true treasure and we want to support him and share our family with him. I've been on KZread trying to learn about what he might be going through... he opens up, but I want to understand better. I want to be a good support who can give good advice and so does my husband. Alex, who's someone we could watch here on KZread who's had bottom surgery? Also, you haven't had it correct? Did you decide against it? Or.....

I bought a hair clipper 3 weeks ago and I've used it once already. I just thought "hair grows back" and went on with it but when it comes to cutting hair on the top of my head I'm afraid I night mess up too much haha :D

I'm gonna be totally honest I have a Vidal Sassoon education and this is honestly amazing concept for being able to see the front and back. The shears on the other hand do make me cringe just a tad but over all seriously a decent cut tapering looks well👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😘
