How I created a relaxing spa experience at home and some home decor in our master bathroom
I'm sharing how I created a relaxing spa at home and the items I like to surround myself with while enjoying some quite time to slow down. I'm also sharing how I keep our shower glass clean, the luxury vacations and design coffee table book that inspired me to create the built in soaking tub and luxury spa retreat, and how I made some DIY bath salts with essential oils.
In this video you will see a few photos of my trip to Twin Farms in Vermont, The Ocean House in Rhode Island, and a few past interior design master bathroom projects.

Nothing like a long tub soak at the end of a cold or stressful day. Turn off the news, turn on some music, light a candle & sink into a tub filled with fragrant bubbles. Heavenly.

We put in a new shower with glass doors 19 months ago and have never had to clean it with anything harsh. We use an e-cloth to wipe the doors after every shower, and a chamois on the tile. We have very hard water too. Beautiful bathroom, love the alcove.

Oh my gosh Linda, I had just taken a break from cleaning my bathroom (letting a cleaner soak) and watched your video. The timing was impeccable. When we purchased this house it had a glass shower door, something I was not excited about due to the cleaning of it. I quickly mixed up your cleaner and it worked!!!! Now, if you could find a way for us over 50 ladies to lose those unwanted pounds, you would be my forever hero! Lol. Have a beautiful weekend Linda!

I use that vinegar and Dawn dish soap mixture to clean almost everything and it is fantastic. It has an overpowering odor so I put it in an empty repurposed squeeze bottle instead of a spray bottle so it doesn't aerosolize. I also take baths in Epsom salts or magnesium flakes when my arthritis is flaring or my muscles are sore. It really does help.

It’s soooo gorgeous. That mirror...and those sconces, and all the silver! It’s hard to take out a fireplace, but after moving into a Paris apartment with four of them, I realized just how hard they can be to work around. Haven’t removed any yet, but totally get why you did. The result is stunning. I may take out the one our small kitchen one of these days.

Luckily the chimney was to two burners in the basement and not a fireplaces. I think I would have us sleep in twin beds if that wasn't the case LOL. What we did have to do was replace the old burners with a new wall hung system, but it was worth it and so much more efficient. It allows us the ability to open up the kitchen too!

Your master bath turned out beautifully! My husband and I purchased a uptown condo five years ago after living in our large country home we built twentynine years ago. Our condo is beautiful modern/scandinavian,very different from our house. When choosing the design elements for the condo,we decided on a walk-in shower with no door's,it's very interesting 😳 Basically you walk around a tiled wall into the very large shower, you could have a party in there. Without door's, even with the heated floors, it's pretty chilly. We have a gas fireplace in the master bedroom,so l turn the fireplace on before showering and it helps to warm me up but l do miss the glass shower at our old house 🙂🍁

For natural stone, use isopropyl alcohol in your recipe instead of vinegar. Alcohol won’t etch the stone, dries streak free, and if you allow it to sit for 5-10 minutes, will help to disinfect, as well.

I have the original clawfoot tub in my 1929 house. Everyone and their Aunt Millie thought I should rip it out and "modernize". Oh, heck no! My house is not fancy but I enjoy those soaks just the same. If I had the money the plumbing would get an upgrade but that cozy porcelain tub will stay as long as I'm here. Cindy, The paint color Linda used, looks very similar to my Dining Room, Sherwin Williams "Magnetic Gray" (Blue Gray) SW 7058. I have the "Silver Strand" SW7057 in our Great Room and it's just a tone lighter. An Interior Designer had used these colors in 3 Display Homes near our home in NC. I adored the Displays Homes, and copied the paints, dark wood floor, similar drape color / pattern and similar upholstered furniture and obtained my own new Display Home! I love the paint colors and it's been 8 yrs and the paint colors are still trending in design yet today. We will be moving soon, and I am going to use the SAME colors in our new home. I don't think, I will ever live in a house with different colors other then these in my main rooms. I also used "Original White" SW 7077 ( just a hint of grashing lavender/pink), in the Hallway. Good Luck!
