I love how he gives you a moment to take it in, basically the proper lighting and background lights play a big role in the process.
That was an amazing tutorial, I learned a bunch of new things about stuff I wasn't expecting at all. Thank for this, Joris!
Ooof, the color correction concepts were very helpful, but it was a bit advanced for me, I have to start more simply.
This is why I keep coming back. Taking the mystery out of videography and making it fun and easy to understand for us noobs. Cheers Joris 🍻 👍🏻🇬🇧

By far the best tutorial out here. I can easily comprehend what's happening and I have ZERO experience with Davinci and color grading. Thank you so much!
Brother, this tutorial is THE ONE I NEEDED!!! One of the best tutorials out there!! I was able to achieve exactly the look i was looking for with none of the "OH SHOOT S LOG" "OH USE THIS LUT" ETC. This has made it so simple for me bro and i have learned a lot more about adjusting colors and specifically the nodes! thank you so much seriously
This was fantastic! Very clear and concise. Great stuff!
love the format of this video. Straight to the point with a lot of helpful information. I'm definitely going to subscribe.
Your Davinci Resolve videos are what convinced me to switch to DR. They also convinced me to subscribe! Thanks for sharing all your knowledge!
Besides always teaching interesting issues regarding Davinci Resolve, what I also enjoy about your videos is that you have a clear English so that I'm able to understand everything you say (yep, I'm Brazilian so my first language is Portuguese). Anyway, many thanks for always sharing such a important content like this one. Cheers!

Short and sweet. Great job, man. Thanks
DaVinci's color grading is so good that when you compare the RAW footage with when after it's edited, the RAW video looks desaturated! I genuinely thought you just had really good lighting and camera quality!
been waiting for this video for so long , thanks legend!

Hey Joris, My hobby is flying drones in different places and then editing those videos in Davinci. There are a lot of light changes if I fly in different places. Is there a special way to adjust each part of the clip to match the entire movie? Can you do a tutorial grading a movie with a drone?

Well, this answered about 99 questions! Very helpful to see you including the color wheels, curves and scopes. But I may have missed something at 7:29 in the Vector Scope skin tone portion. I did not see you do anything with the Vector Scope other than say, "See, there's the skin tones, should be on or close to that line." They are on or close to that line but that doesn't seem to be of much value since they were not right. You needed to adjust the Hues vs Hues curves to increase the orange/reduce the red in the skin tones. Perhaps that is all a scope is: A viewer of something, not a doer of something. Can you clarify the significance of that for me, please? Appreciate this video very much, thanks for the effort to present it.
Thank you for helping me organize my knowledge after watching other videos. This is what I needed, not too much, not too shallow and finally I understood the curves. Thanks! But if One really want to go crazy, the parallel node can be key framed with different colors...:)

Most video work doesn't need color grading, which alters the natural color of a scene or landscape. Just apply the correct profile for your camera and then adjust exposure and contrast. It's a myth that everything needs color graded in addition to the basic adjustments.

Hey man, nice video! It was super helpful and well paced, loved the zoom ins for detail. I have one question, I've been trying to google it also, is there a way to save lets say your skin tone node and share them between projects? Is that adjustment clip thing what I'm talking about? I'll keep looking it up but sometimes it easier to ask someone in particular lol. Thanks man

Hello Joris, Thanks for what you sharing in this channel. It helps me a lot. Can you tell me if it's possible to create like a framework or a template of nodes ? So you can just use the same architecture of nodes and every color grading and only adjust the settings and effects. I mean I wanna color grade faster. TY, see you in your next videos 🤙

When making the adjustments to the correction node like you at around 4:00 nothing seems to change did I miss a step Do you have to add anything to that node?
hi im new to this, do you know how to check what is the color space I'm using??
At 3:22 you speak to log footage. Since I am just starting out, my CX405 Sony camcorder does not support log footage. What do I choose?
Hello, is there any way to remove previously installed effects? From the Effects section of Davinci? Completely remove them from the program?
Is all the nodes added are serial nodes?
Yolo🔥🔥
If I use Blackmagic camera app for apple log and use LUT there, do I still need to apply CST in DaVinci Resolve?

question that may be very common from me cuz i'm very newbie. how do you record from a camera with a flat color like your video before color grade?

First of all, your camera has to support flat/log profiles.
Hello Joris, Hope you are doing well. I know this question is not about color grading, but however I'll like to get a chance on fixing the issue I'm currently having. I'm editing and the video is not playing correctly. Kind of strubbling with waves on the edges of moving subjetcs. Could you or anyone here please help me? For a matter of details on this issue, I'll be able to send screenshot of the look. Thanks

I have a question i know how to color grade but when I color grade one of my videos I always have to grade every single clip by it self. I know that that is good because every clip looks slightly different but to make every clip look kinda the same at the beginning i wont to grade every one at one time but I dont know how to do that. Can you help me with that?

I usually grade in an adjustment clip. So drop an adjustment clip on top of your video clips.

I recently downloaded DaVinci resolve and noticed it's been really laggy when editing gameplay videos or any other videos. I did some tweaks to it to try and stop the lag but it still lags all the time, I looked up videos on KZread and a bunch more and no matter what if I try and edit a Minecraft video it lags a lot, I've got a pretty decent pc so I don't know why it's lagging this bad, pleases help.
@JorisHermans

Difficult to say what the problem could be. When I was still using Premiere Pro, it crashed multiple times every day and never figured out what the problem was. And Resolve runs support smooth on the same system.
It just really sucks that the free version you can’t edit 10bit footage. Well I haven’t found the way anyways

Yeah, one option is to transcode your 10bit footage to ProRes. Edit: but it's a pain in the ass if you have a lot of footage...
