Ok tried it! I’m wondering how you split expenses with your partner? We keep a Splitwise but then if I cover meals and he covers other things, it looks lopsided.

Good question! So I have all my accounts and all his accounts on the same spreadsheet, so I can see the total spent on each category as a household, and also see the progress made on our separate debts and savings each month. As far as splitting expenses goes, we share a credit card that we use for basically everything and we each pay half of the balance each month. If one of us wants to make a large purchase on our own, we just put it on our separate credit cards. In your case though, using your example, maybe it’d be easier if you had fewer categories in the spreadsheet, like combining the meals category with one of the others that he usually covers, and then try to maintain a total between the two, if that makes sense?

I downloaded this and am going to try this out, starting in August. Thanks Naomi! You did a great job! I've tried other budget spreadsheets that others have done, but never really liked them too much after using. I use quickbooks to track all my transactions, but need a budget spreadsheet I like. I think you should restart doing your monthly budget videos with using this, like you mentioned maybe doing.

Hi Naomi! First of all, thank you for giving out the spreadsheet. I have a few questions. I've downloaded it to Excel, and I'm not able to see the chart, it's like it does not exist. Also, I can fill in the expenses, income and debt descriptions and amounts, however, when I fill in the savings one and select the category (for example if I select savings) the savings category instead of updating the value, it updates to #######. Do you know how to fix this?

Usually that just means you need to expand the column because it cannot show all of the number.

I love the template! But how come i can't edit it when i click the link?

Thanks! You have to save it as a copy, otherwise if you try to edit the template it will change it for everyone
