    Thing I enjoyed about Mint was that it was free and provided a heck of alot more. Paying $100/year to budget your own books defeats the purpose imo.

    If a company gives something away for free, they eventually have to find a way to make money from that product or service. For example, the videos you watch here are free. But they cost money to make. To recoup those costs, we hope that we make money from the ads you watch beforehand or if you decide to use our affiliate links from these budget apps.

    I agree, and I have private mail for this reason, but its $2 a month. maybe its because I am not a big money maker, but the problem isnt that the product is paid, its that everything these days wants to cost over $5 a piece and the costs add up. So they need more reasonably priced options, maybe some product that focuses on the essentials. $5 a month or preferably less.

    Some questions about Monarch: 1. Since Monarch was founded by people who worked at Mint, will they make the same mistakes with Monarch in how they let Intuit purchase Mint? 2. Mint had connectivity issues with Fidelity. Will Monarch have connection issues with Fidelity too? Also, what are your thoughts on the Fidelity Full View app? And are there any "legacy" banking/investing/financial service alternatives to Mint instead of only the services that are either startups or have been around for only a decade?

  • @MarriageKidsandMoney

    @MarriageKidsandMoney

    Great questions! 1. I have no idea. I hope not. Since they are charging for their service, hopefully, it will be a profitable and helpful business model for them. That's where Mint failed in my opinion. They definitely had the helpful part, but not the profitable part. 2. According to Monarch, they currently do connect with Fidelity through Finicity -- help.monarchmoney.com/hc/en-us/articles/20209369365140-Connecting-with-Fidelity As for alternatives that aren't new start ups ... check out YNAB. They've been around for a while now. Empower is great for investment management and it's free too -- more details on Empower: kzread.info/dash/bejne/aJqTj9hmZNu4obg.htmlsi=prKq9L3UEHuXv65K

    Does anyone know of any apps that will track bill calendars based on actual balance statements? A few options I’ve tried out there will automatically detect upcoming payment due dates but estimates based off of previous payments and not the actual statement balance due. A feature I really loved with mint.

    I love that the apps feed my transactions so I don’t have to manual enter. My issue with the apps I’ve tried is the budgeting. I budget bi-weekly based on our pay cycles. My spending and food budget re-sets bi-weekly. Most of these apps force the monthly budget which throws me off and it doesn’t allow editing of the budget cycle. Any app that you would recommend?

    I respectfully disagree but ... if you're looking for free, check out Empower. Definitely not as good as these ones or Mint, but it's free. Here's more details on Empower: kzread.info/dash/bejne/aJqTj9hmZNu4obg.htmlsi=ahFZQiS5C9QTlYyw Also, EveryDollar Free version is okay too -- no synching of transactions.

    I hear ya! Some completely free ones (that aren't as good as Mint was): - Empower - EveryDollar (Free version - no manual synching)

    I hear ya! Try EveryDollar's free version. Unfortunately, it doesn't automatically sync transactions. Or you could use Empower for free as well... their budgeting solution is just not as good as these ones mentioned in the video. kzread.info/dash/bejne/aJqTj9hmZNu4obg.htmlsi=gfL8ncHBrUvdBmwY

    With a family of four, we have a lot of transactions each month. Manually syncing them wouldn't be worth my time for $9/month. To each their own! Other free options to consider would be Empower as well. They have a free budget planner and other excellent tools -- the budget planner isn't as good as these other ones, but worth checking out if free is important to you right now.
