Meh not really. Most of these guys have rules against banning certain grips. Sucks if your gullible, but carnival games at their core rely on a gimmick to make money. Lots of these guys know that grip breaks the gimmick so they don't allow it. If you pay $5 to win $100, they have to guarantee most lose to make money. 20 just to equal the prize money. More like 40 if you want to make an actual wage.

There are people in other comments claiming those who got pulled off didn't pay, but I doubt that's the case. Realistically, it wouldn't make sense for just anyone to walk up and try it, since multiple people would realistically block them. Sounds like a scam of a scam. There's also people who claim that some tell you not to overlap your thumb, but that also tells me those are the scammers and should 100% be exposed and arrested. Fraud is still fraud.

They typically have a rule against switch grip. Better strategy is to train on a pvc pipe that's slightly too thick and rotates. Grip goes crazy after training that way so the game is really easy. Watched a guy train that method and now goes carnival to carnival finding these things to just win money to eat there lol

One hand forward, one hand backward, each hand should counter the rotation of the other keeping the bar stable.

The thing about carnivals or other similar events is that half of the point is to just have fun. Many are designed to be unfair, but you could also just go buy most of the prizes for a online if you really want them. You don't go to a theme park/carnival to save money.

I've only just started working on my grip strength and I got to 60 seconds for the first time the other day. I was well stoked 😅

Anytime anyone gets close to winning, the attendant will make amendments to the rules. In my effort I was able to hang on for 80 seconds, though the attendant gave me a look when I stripped off my shoes and clothes (this was at a beach and I have board shorts underneath my jeans) and dusted my hands in some gravel that was nearby. Needless to say, there were a couple new rules when I passed it the next day.

In some places they actually tell you you can’t use that grip. They already caught on.

Hook gripping is a really good way to solidify your grip on things like bars or when deadlifting

Another thing you can do is if you are strong enough is when the bar starts spinning, you only hang with 1 arm and occasionally you switch from arm to arm to regulate the blood flow.

They caught on. “Don’t wrap thumbs” is pretty common to see on their rules.

He didn't pay, the guy prodded at him to get down, the dude kicked at him then got ripped off the bar. I was just saying there was more to it. Just kinda figured self research would be more reliable than just believing me lol and if were being honest, i didn't feel like id done something. Just figured if the original poster was curious he'd ask for more info.

It does not stop the bar it just makes the weight go down as the normal grip makes you grip the side so it causes it to rotate

typically its posted that youre not allowed to use mixed grip. supinated or pronated are the only 2 options, hook grips are normally not mentioned.

I've seen these scams. They specifically tell people they can't overlap their thumbs like this. They know this is the proper way to deal with the bar rotating and have a rule against doing it. They'll just say you're disqualified if you do it.

You can also do alternating grips, one over, one under, same result. Used in deadlifting as well. If you're heavier, that thumb trip will work but it'll hurt your thumb.

Many will unfortunately tell you you’re not allowed to grip it that way, I’ve tried at a few places(granted i obviously haven’t been to them all) and they say you have to hold it over and just with the finger grips with thumbs to the side. I won once this way but hardly haha I was trying to impress my wife and honestly, that’s the best motivation you can have
