Exactly! It was through letter writing (after an initial dating app connection) that I met my partner back in 2011. He was the only male who was willing to correspond “respectfully” prior to a first date. We wrote emails to each (hadn’t yet shared phone numbers) for about 2 weeks daily before we met. It was so sweet and old-fashioned. 💕🙏. I’ll eventually list my post office box in my description to allow for traditional correspondence with viewers. That may be fun! 🥰

I found you on Jen’s channel too! We are almost the exact same age and I’m so inspired by you. We have a lot in common. I just started my channel, but I’m so excited to have found other GenX creators. It is like a neighborhood community center!

I'm so glad more women in their 50's like you are starting channels. It's fantastic to see the growth of this. I've been on a similar KZread journey, I'm a born and raised New Yorker and started uploading videos fairly regularly at the beautiful age of 50 in 2020. Then we all know what happened during that time and it took a massive toll on me. I deleted down about 100 videos by the end of 2021 because I had reconnected with my faith again and didn't think most of the vids were representing who I was becoming. BUT the encouraging outcome had been growing closer to my faith and started my youtube channel again by uploading older videos and creating new videos on a regular basis, thanks to women like you and Jen! Thank you for the inspiration. & by the way, I just turned 55 (celebrate celebrate celebrate your 55th 💛)

I’m finding editing to be a vehicle for creative expression as well. Over the summer I’m hoping to get back to some form of painting…likely in the form of art journaling. For your monetization challenge, may I suggest that you choose a KZread “guru” or expert to follow…and then follow the monetization journeys of others. The knowledge mixed with the inspiration and camaraderie has been my formula for growth. You’ve got this! 💕

This is a fantastic video and I really have been enjoying it. It strikes me as such an important and good information I think I’ve been trying to focus on how to entertain people rather than engage until just recently so I’ve got a few people subscribed and the total hours is lagging, but I haven’t done a lot of long videos but your long video here just sincere and being yourself that’s wonderful

Glad it was helpful! It took me some time to be comfortable doing longer videos…but I just dove in and once I did it felt much easier and natural. It’s also a strategic way to get those watch hours. Most viewers don’t watch the whole video. So if you’re making one minute vids, you’re likely only getting 30-45 seconds worth of watch time each view. On a 12 minute video, you’ll likely get at least 3 minutes per view…it adds up quicker that way. 😉✨

Just found your channel and love it! Content creation is very fun and I love the tribe of 50-somethings that have jumped into the deep end of the pool! Keep up the good work!

I get those challenging comments sometimes but I'm always kind. If it continues to get worse, I block them. Sometimes people can be really mean. Thanks for your kind words! Something you can try to increase engagement is to start a conversation by leaving a pinned comment in your comment section. This way your viewers will see that comment as soon as they begin watching and may be more inclined to participate in a discussion. You can do that on your previous videos too! Yes we do! I’ve subscribed to your channel. I lost my mom to dementia a few years back. She was only 73 and declined very quickly. It was a very difficult time for me. Part of the reason I’m creating content is as a legacy for my children and to work through my rediscovering myself after losing her. Thanks for creating your channel. It is important work. 🙏💕
