I'm in my 60s and I stopped following a lot of socially acceptable things a long time ago. I am also not married to my partner of 16years, We also have separate rooms for mostly the same reasons you have, and we are much happier that way. neither of us follow fashion, I don't get my nails done and never have, don't celebrate most holidays including christmas, I don't cook for eveyone, don't follow diet culture, have never worn makeup not even for special occasions, (except a bit of bb cream with sunscreen as I live in australia) and I hate talking on the telephone. I am decluttering though, I live in a very small house and there is too much stuff for me to move around safely now as I have some mobility issues at times. Thankyou for sharing, it is good to know others have found the joy of being their authentic selves.

Hi it's almost 6.30 am here. I'm preparing breakfast while I watch you. I agree with your perspective on you doing you. We all should do what's right for us at the different times of our life. I also don't don't have my nails done...it isn't as pretty but it's healthier, doesn't cost me money and I like it😊

My mother always had the loveliest nails...painted and manicured...even into her 70s. I was always envious of her dainty hands! But I have to do what feels right for me. I know she is probably still cringing from heaven at the thought of me biting my nails! Lol. I always appreciate reading your comments. 💗🙏

Hey there! Happy that you resonated with the video. 🙏💕. I just realized I was neurodivergent this past summer. It’s been interesting to see my life through a different lens and it’s caused me to have much more compassion for myself. I’m suddenly a significant amount happier knowing this about myself. 😊💕

In my 50s I decided to always use my cool stuff, cute things, expensive high end accumulation, throw old crap away, never a reason to wear something ugly or cheap...but not out of vanity but just a waste of time if you have cute or fancy, wear it...even pajamas, socks, hair, rings...Whatever you love dont save it for a "special occasion", wear/do it to run errands, go to the park etc. We are here to express, so do that. And lastly, eat everthing you want in minimal moderation. No holidays here either, at least not directly. No stress is best.

I'm 54 (claiming 40 again :), never married, single, no kids, and never lived with someone long term. My ex and I used to sleep in separate bedrooms due to our sleep schedules, etc. and it worked. I also smiled when you talked about your polo shirts and wanting to wear your collar up. I did the same with my off brand shirt. I also didn't like to follow "trends" or "rules" and wore pin striped pants with a sweater that had strips going the opposite way and that got pointed out. I thought I looked fine. I never get my nails done, barely wear makeup, and most of of my clothes are thrifted. I've gotten more compliments on second hand clothes that I enjoy. It's still my dream to meet my person and share life together in a dream home we create, but in the meantime I feel inspired to know that there are more of us like minded "introverts" that enjoy life by sharing our own uniqueness with others. You have inspired me to start sharing what I am passionate about.....It's never too late to start a living a life you dream about...

It’s is hard with a busy mind to get all the things done…and I don’t want my life to be about getting all the tasks done. I want it to be about enjoying as much as I can each day. Right within the first few moments, this quote where you say, “I feel I have earned the right to make my own decisions.” Yes, I think for the first time at 41. I am starting to finally feel a bit like a grown-up because of this very phenomenon. Like you wake up one day and you realize you can make your own decisions and that is your right to do so. it is a good feeling! It means we own our mistakes too, but that’s also satisfying.

Hi there! Agreed! In my 40’s (well, 38 to be exact) my first decision that I felt was my own to make was ending my marriage of 13 years. That was one of the hardest decisions to make, but necessary. Now, in my 50’s, I have less guilt about doing what I need to do for me. It was definitely a process to get to this point, though. I’m glad to know that you are there. There’s fulfillment in living for yourself as much as there is in living a life of service to others. Keep it all in balance. ⚖️💕. Thanks for joining my community and for your thoughtful comment. 🙏👋

I cant believe how much I related to this video!! I do so many of the same things! Eg, don't follow fashion trends, don't do diet culture, don't do nails, don't cook for everyone, not married etc. I think thing you do that I don't in this list is sleep in separate bedrooms. We don't have the space plus we love a good cuddle before bed. But it's was genuinely wonderful to see someone else who doesn't do these norms.

@beautifullifesageg.3951 I wouldn't worry about the loss too much, it just means they came to you for maybe 1 or 2 videos but your overall content just isn't for them. I also get a few subs from scammers and people trying to sell me SEO services, they subscribe, if I don't follow them back or take up their services they unsubscribe. Then you've got bot accounts that will unsubscribe once they've been caught and the account closed. So I won't worry about if this video was the cause or not. It just means the ones who stuck around are genuine viewers who enjoyed your content.

Holy moly can I relate to all of this (including neurodivergence and separate rooms!) I remember the utter joy I felt when I received the only Christmas present I wanted: A Polo sweater(!) in 7th or 8th grade. Soon after that I discovered & fell in love with new wave & punk rock, and have never since looked back, fashion-trend-wise. I couldn't even properly fit in with the punk rockers, really! I just do what feels good. Thank you for this thought provoking and affirming list!

Another video where I was nodding my head the whole way, haha! There are some differences like I would love for my nails to look nice (but they don't!) and I make a big deal of some holidays (and have completely let go of celebrating others in traditional ways.) And I don't have a live-in partner, but I would absolutely want separate bedrooms. Isn't it fabulous getting to "that age" where you get to be done with certain norms and just do you? Love it!

Well that's a perspective I haven't thought about! I went to school in Los Angeles with a large number of wealthy kids even though my family was not. The pressure to fit in was immense. So although now I could care less about fashion, back then I was definitely influenced. I should look for a fox polo at the thrift and buy it for old times sake!

I love your videos. Just wanted to point out in a sincere and humble way that “not getting married “ is not a bad thing as long as you’re also keeping the bed undefiled is a practice amongst most people called “Christians” and I practise that faith. I believe in God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit and also believe in keeping the commandments. And in the Christian faith, having sec when you’re not married is a Sin. Sins are wrong. That was why I felt obliged to comment on that as you mentioned that not getting married was the right way to do things. Most people get married to keep the law, some for love, some to make children. That single statement Does Not make me hate or judge you in any way sis. I still love your videos and will continue watching them. Nice concept for the background 💜💜💜

@beautifullifesageg.3951 They were a housewarming present from my in-laws, 25 years ago. Around dinnertime 12 years ago, I discovered all of the 'every day' dishes were in the dishwasher and I refused to rush to handwash enough for 6 people. So I pulled down the fancies, which were clean in their padded containers, and had only been used five times since we got them. I decided they would no longer be locked away for a 'special occasion', and they have become our everyday dishes.
