Lol. Funny you mentioned this because in another story we just posted, the mechanic did use duct tape to fix the ship. 😆

Good story. Improvise, adapt and over come, I have heard and used these three words many a time when I was in the military and it worked 99% of the time.(Mississippi Gulf Coast, USA).

At 1:02 an impossible statement was made. The crippled ship received an answer to their SOS from a world "a few light years away". That means it would have taken the SOS a few years to reach Earth and a few more years for the answer to be received. Instead the author could have said the crippled ship picked up signals originating from a world a few light years away (since Earth had been broadcasting radio and TV signals into space for decades), and decided to follow the signals to their source. Other than that big mistake, this was a pretty good tale.

Thanks for the comment. Just to clarify, in these stories, never assume our current understanding of human science and tech applies to alien science and tech. The universe and multiverses don't work like that. If we assumed everything was based on our understanding in our current universe, then no HFY story would be possible because aliens would never be able to reach us due to distance alone. These stories are based on infinite possibilities in infinite universes.

@@RocketShipRadioA clever excuse for missing a key detail. Sub-light is sub-light, with any drive that could travel FTL, they wouldn't have been stranded. An immediate thumbs down for the BS factor. If you're gonna make up crap, make it believable.

Nah, we‘ll just make up crap and call it a day. And I’m just messing with you. Let’s not take all this too seriously. There’s much more to life than just our stories. Enjoy them for what they are and live your best life, okay? 😁

Your assumption is based on radio or equivalent communications frequencies or similar. In which case you would be right. However, the assumption is having achieved FTL transport, so why not parallel FTL communications.

@@starleyshelton2245 The Zrathians may have had faster than light communications, but the narrative plainly states that Earth had crude energy systems and was barely a space faring race, not even possessing FTL ("Concepts like hyperdrive and energy matrix were meaningless to this species"), so they clearly could not have faster than light communication. Go back and watch it again.

And the story of the Vulcans view of the human's way of doing things is told again. Not that it was limited to them. Many fear changes to the order of things. Good story though.
