Harry Styles is just that person who is very honest and charming but also very consistently hardworking all this combined is rare

I went on a little nostalgic 1D binge a few weeks back and realized he sings basically *all* the choruses on their hits, with only.a couple of exceptions. There's a reason Sony reportedly paid ~$75m to sign him, gave him his own record label, etc. I would say the other members do have distinct sounds solo, whether it's Louis going down the alt/indie rock path, Niall with the folk tinge, Zayn with moody R&B. Only Liam was really all over the place.

I just saw Harry in concert a couple of weeks ago. The man has captivated me. I wasn't a One Direction fan and only became a fan of Harry in 2021. My friends kept talking about him so I asked the question, "what's so great about Harry Styles?" I quickly found out. Harry has it all: talent, style, charm, zest, and looks. I'm a *huge* fan now.

@thereal finalgirl the other members were the same especially louis and zayn. They just not as bombastic and exhibitionist or performative. They were being themselves throughout and even rebelled against 1D draconian management, Harry did not. Harry i find is more easily manipulated and controlled. Wearing a dress seems very performative and kudos to him but to make that the only factor of someone being themselves seems very reductive. BUT working, Harry has a very capable abd stellar PR team.

Harry is a slave for his managers n his industry.They make him only work with not a day of rest I am sure the other 1d boys won't won't like to be their managers slave.

One of the biggest reasons for HS success is his performance skills and ability to connect with the audience. I could see it building in 1D, he’d interact with the crowd so well

It's not that much of a mystery. All the others are lacking somewhere. Harry is a full package. He writes all his music, he can sing well, he is an amazing performer, he has the looks, he has the charisma. He just has the X factor and others don't. He debuted with a 6 minute rock balad and now we're here.

I was never a fan of One Direction, but Harry Styles is respectable for his ability to transcend. And have multiple talents

He’s very much well needed right now. He’s like today’s Mick Jagger or David Bowie. He’s very fluid and has charisma that matches today’s youth and generation. He’s literally doing everything right right now. He also doesn’t really have any beef with anyone too unless their a hater.

Sign of the times is one of the best solo debut singles of the 2010s and it annoys me how little people seem to talk about the song and his debut album as I find most of the music on this album to be great

Harry is really talented, so as the other members of One Direction, that´s why I think a lot of his success has to do with his public character, he just works on his stuff and that´s it. He doesn´t get in any scandals or problems, and while some of his relationships have been really public, which is obviously not surprising since he is so famous, Harry and his team have wonderfully managed the attention of his private life with his music. He´s just a guy making music and working on other stuff too, but never at the expense of someone else. Just think about it, he could have gossiped so easily about his time on One Direction, the members, his ex partners, etc, for promotion, attention or sympathy like others did, but he has never done that, and if he wants to express such feelings, he does it through his work. He seems really genuine and focused.

Harry built his own fan base within the 1D fan base and from there basically became solo without being solo. I love harry and I loved 1D but I do think hardcore harry fans will like and go along with every single he does no matter what even if it’s just ok. And I think with that gave a really easy path for harry to go solo so seamlessly because his fans are more invested in him than his actual work.

Zayn had the looks, fans and controversy in his side but couldn’t manage to find consistent style nor success. Harry on the other-hand harnessed all these factors and gained massive popularity even among non-fans.

@@Geekyfabulous but I think the biggest difference and the thing that ultimately showed why Harry succeeded over zayn specifically outside of 1D was that harry is more outgoing and zayn is shy and reserved. Really all I very saw when people were talking about zayn was his dating life with harry while he had that at an even larger scale people were also really interested in him from his personality to his looks. Zayn didn’t get that and it seems like he’s happy with that because he doesn’t really do anything at this point and is way more private than he’s ever been and it seems like by his choosing.

Harry Styles is the first former boy group member and first post-2010 pop artist that I am now taking seriously. He has it!

I think Harry Styles is a great artist & when his career is all said & done he will be regarded as one of the most influential & important artists of this generation. He has it all looks , charisma , authenticity , and star power. He makes great music. I've been following him since Sign Of The Times. I never knew he was in One Direction til later on because I was never really a huge fan of them during their success I found out about 1D later like a little after their breakup , but anyway as a Harry Styles fan it's nice to see him evolve & become so influential

My mom literally asked me, “What was the boyband Harry Styles was apart of?” The other day. So hearing you say 1D isn’t the first thing you think of when you hear about Harry Styles was a funny coincidence to me 😂

2020 was when I started following Harry and watching One Direction performances and interviews, he just had this relaxed charismatic personality. I love the energy he exudes on stage and how he doesn't take his fame for granted and most of all, I love his music. Being a fan has opened me to soo many of his inspirations and learning from them to work with them through my life. He is my role model.

Harry is a legend. He writes all his music, also wrote a lot of 1D music. He has the stage charisma. He is genuine and sweet. He’s attractive and everyone who has met him say he’s very respectful and sweet. Not only can he sing but he can act and dance when he wants to. Harry is everything

Personally I find him a good pop star with ok song, but he hasn t done neither anything original or special nor influenced other artist with his unique style and way of making music like lana del rey did with taylor swift(a little bit), conan grey, lorde, halsey, bilie and madison beer or taylor swift with olivia rodrigo and conan grey and finally ariana grande with madison beer. Everyone believes the narratives put out by modest management, Psyco abd 1D but if Zayn got kicked out or did leave of his own volition...it does feel like he was the sacrificial lamb, the fall guy, the scapegoat so that when Harry suggested the hiatus zayn had already absorbed all the hate abd anger so that Harry going solo wouldn't feel like a betrayal by the fans.

When you see a lot of artists it’s a spectacle, they put on a show and you go to watch, at Harry’s concerts you go to sing and dance with him and he chats with the audience, he lets you know it’s his favorite thing to do and he really wants to be there

Harry's versatility reminds me a lot of Kelly Clarkson. He has a surprisingly Rock/Soul soul sound, yet a surprisingly Indie-Pop sound when more reserved. The combination just ends up sounding welcome on any song he participates in.

Harry doesn't have to label his sexuality if he doesn't want to. He's young and has plenty of time in the world to discover who he is, while he can still be into all genders or have personal preference. He can love whoever want as long as they love and want him back.

Honestly everyone saw it coming lol he was always the most popular, media and articles back in the day used to sometimes call them "harry and his band". Other than for his looks and personality he always stood out in their live performances too, his charisma and stage presence was always superior to all the other members.

I’m not big into pop music but I’ve been enjoying him as an artist. Definitely has an IT factor, actual talent and good music!

Then you're just inviting straight artists to make money off of gay people and the "edgy" gay "image", stringing them along. Other factors that likely helped his success was starring in the movie Dunkirk the same year his 1st album came out. Definitely gave him some major traction. Also, unlike Zayn, Harry does a lot of public appearances like SNL, late night shows, and concerts, which are all crucial to getting your name out there.

I don’t think Zayn is a good comparison to Harry tbh. And joining Dunkirk is not what makes him this big. It’s his work in music and personality that speak to most of his fans. He’s done very little promo but more of live shows. But everything he has done was pretty impactful and got people talk with/without intention. I think part of it comes from the fact that he’s a quiet rebellion who keeps doing what he believes. That’s a powerful inspiration for his fans but more like a big FY to non-fans who don’t seem to understand that they can’t bring him down while paying attention to him endlessly.

Harry has always been the star even before the band split. He is my favorite artist today but if I'm honest a major reason for his high success is because women and many men find him on another level of hot and that's just facts don't deny it lol. That said it's mostly imo because he is super cool compared to majority of big celebrities. He has a big heart, a unique personality that catches the eyes of men and women, his music is refreshing and creative. He is a legend and people sometimes hate on him when he's called a legend and compared to legendary artists but I mean he literally is a unique talent and he's only 28 and already made an impact so massive. That's amazing and him acting on the side I think legend fits just fine🥂

Harry's a talented artist & genius. I'd even go as far as to say he's one of the GOATs in the music industry, comparing him to the likes of The Weeknd, Kanye West, Taylor Swift, SZA, Miley Cyrus, Travis Scott. Harry had to have what it takes to even interest those people in the first place. Same with Rob Stringer head of his label, he knew Harry from 1D days, and trusted him, knew he worked hard and wouldn't let him down, and he hasn't. Harry has a great character and work ethic. Others just don't have the same priorities.

I don’t buy his concert tickets because of his connection with the Azoff, so whatever people say really.

The biggest reason is definitely , him having an interesting character. As we have seen in many modern artists , voice is not everything , it all depends on if you have enough character to people to follow .

My favorite is Niall but there is no denying Harry is the biggest one and was almost always at the forefront during their 1D days (as was Liam, too, I would say). As they’ve all embarked on their solo careers, Niall and Harry have been my favorites in terms of sound and style. I’m glad both boys are happy, living their own lives, and enjoying doing their own thing.

Zayn has stage anxiety, he wasn't lying about it when he left the band, he genuinely has anxiety, he has nearly the exact same amount of followers on KZread and instagram as Harry does, there's obviously a demand, but he isn't craving to force himself to do it for fame despite his crazy amount of solo success with no promotion and potential he has, we have to remember Zayn did the best in his debut and hasn't needed any media play or pr or love performance to get well known hits like Pillow talk, Dusk til Dawn and I don't wanna live forever If he wants to be more popular he would go on stage and promote but he doesn't crave it I'd love to see him promote, you don't see people as beautiful and vocally gifted as him in mainstream male music these days No one in One direction could chat to him vocally or visually

😂 Well Zayn is coming around strong for his new album "Room Under Stairs". The only person who needs to pull things together need to be Liam Payne, Louis and Niall surpassed him interms of music and lyrics and solo act.

I’ve been so happy to watch him grow. He’s only a few years older than me and it’s been crazy to get to grow up with him. Always a fan and a supporter ❤️

I wasn’t at all into One Direction but thought he was the face of the group when they were together. I’ll admit I haven’t listened to any of his music but he has been recommended from one of my oldest friends/ fellow millennials. One of his songs played during my rural city’s Pride festival in October and said friend informed me it was Harry due to the fact I was feeling it lol! This video has convinced me to go full steam ahead and check out his music.

Harry was (and still is)my favorite bias of the group to this day. I haven't listened to his music in awhile but I gotta stream him.

I only got into harry's music after he went solo, but even before the band went on break, I remember one of my friends (who was a fan) telling me he was always going to be the biggest star out of the five of them

Harry Styles has always been a brilliant authentic artist. His passion for his art and hard work shines. Most of all his humility, gratefulness, kindness to his family, team band members, fellow artists and especially to his fans are all heartfelt.

I’m so happy to see a Manchester artist doing so well. We have him and The 1975 totally blowing up the music scene at the moment.

harry just has that star factor. he brought that star factor in 1d and he took it with him when he went solo 🤷🏻‍♀️

For me I always thought either him or Zayne would be the most successful and that's because they have more lines and more presence.

His marketing is so good that his fans willingly listen to treat people with kindness more than once 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 That's like cambridge analytica level of marketing that he and his heavy hitter backers pulled off. It's both impressive and scary at just how successful they are with him.

please do a video on niall. what he should do to succeed or how people counted him out and at least with his first album he proved he COULD compete if he played his cards right

I just think it’s weird people think he’s queer based on the way he dresses. Weren’t we saying clothes have no gender a couple of years ago? Whatever his sexuality is, I don’t think celebrities owe that information to us.

before zayn left 1d, i used to assume HS would leave first and be the most popular ex-member. i was right on the latter part.

He was always the favorite

Tbh I knew it will happen, he had very big fanbase within the band as well, but I loved how he pivoted away from the pop music & emerged as a beautiful solo artist. Harry is very charming, he engages his fans well & just very likeable & is still a dork with zero attitude, which honestly does make him stand apart from not just 1D boys but a lot of pop stars of this era.

It was always between him and Zayn because the two of them had what the other didn’t they could sing, perform, and had CHARISMA! Unfortunately for Zayn bc of a poor relationship with his label and his unwillingness to promote his own music Harry was able to take the top spot! Being able to give good album rollouts / eras and promote your music is essential to solidifying yourself in the industry and he does that very well. Edit: For the people saying Zayn wasn’t/isn’t charismatic or can’t perform that is false he used to be very good at performing during the 1D days. He has mental health issues like anxiety, depression, and stress which makes sense considering how much he was stalked by paparazzi and fans so his ability to perform isn’t where it used to be which is what I pointed out and helped Harry become the stand out member of 1D.

zayn is not charismatic, and struggles with performing live/touring because of anxiety. he aligns more to an indie type of singer/fanbase than a global pop star

Zayn is the kind that goes down but bounces back up leaps and beyond. His music his vocals his lyrics are superior to anyone! Yes he’s not a showman like Harry is but he does not want to be that! Anxiety is a real issue and it’s sad how people dismiss artists who are supremely talented because they can’t perform live or act!! But then if you have a listen to their music it’s a different experience all together

I don't know much about 1D, but I do remember seeing his face everywhere haha good for him. He seems like a very hard worker

It’s interesting how many people I know personally, including my father, who were never fans of or hadn’t even heard of 1D (as well as many people who never thought they’d like his music) but found Harry as a solo artist and fell in love with his music and his stage presence. Most of the people, men and women, that I’m talking about are in their 30’s or older (one gentleman as old as 84) and many of them are or were musicians and artists in their own right. There’s something about Harry’s effervescence that clicks with young audiences as well as older ones. And don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of most of the solo work by the other members (except Liam; a shame since he’s got such a great voice), but in my personal opinion they’re just not as consistent as Harry. Or maybe it’s Harry’s pure, infectious joy in what he does? I don’t know.

The main reason for his success is that he befriended the right people. While still being in one direction he befriended jeff azoff (whose father is one of the most influential people in the industry) James cordon and Ben Winston also really big. Not only did he date Taylor Swift, but he had very prominently friends like cara delivgne, nick grimshaw and kendell jenner. His social circle greatly contributed to his success today

He is charismatic and undoubtedly talented that's it.

I would say Harry actually sticks to the original roots of sound that 1D had, while giving that sound a new fresh feel which is why his music seems to be popular

The others just simply didn’t have the star power to be relevant as soloists. Zayn has, but he wanted to keep himself low key which didn’t help.

In my opinion (and to my taste, I guess) Harry hasn't always nailed the landing in all his endeavors. But- he's led an interesting trajectory thus far in his career, with the film roles he's taken on and the music he's been making. And yes- he is an intriguing persona. While I await the full bloom of his potential (I think he can become a great songwriter- contrary to lots of strong opinions on the matter), his refusal to 'stand in one place' with his career has me fully hooked. When he's great- he's a real Force.

Harry was key to one direction’s popularity. Even his ex ID bandmates continue to benefit from him by association till tomorrow but ID fans will never admit it or give him due credits.

How exactly do they continue to benefit from him when every critic and journalist compares them to him whenever they do anything, they diminish their work and any tiny bit of success they get cause is not as spectacular as his? I'd say if anything their association to him does them more harm than good, if they were someone like Ed Sheeran or Shawn Mendes or Charlie Puth they could afford failure because of the work they put out and not simply because they're not Harry in the first place lol

He has lots of fans as he is always nice to people, he treats everyone with respect and knows he's only where he is because of his fans. He is still grounded and doesn't see himself as a celebrity, he also says people work with him NOT for him and he always carries his own luggage. So everyone can see he wants to carry on how he would if he wasn't famous. As for dates,, the only person he HAS ADMITTED to dating is Louis!!!! Also in 1D to me he stood out, he even entertained crowds then, when there were technical problems, he would tell jokes or sing eg. It's bloody broken baby!!! OR We're having technical difficulties and going to sing this bit over and over again!!! If he had just stood around like the other members the crowd would have got fed up, they need something happening. So he's understanding and respectful of the fans and has carried it on, that is what made me respect and love him. ❤️

Hunger, Without you, Medicine, Ana, Him, etc, as well as some other songs he wrote for Ariana G : Just a little bit of your heart( a pearl when Harry sings it, I wish he didn ‘t give it to her) , Meghan T& M. B “ Someday” , Cam “ Changes”, Alex& Sierra” I love you”., and so on..This is another credit for Harry, that is not mentioned . He is a true artist. Health&Love for Harry!

I feel like you could easily see the comparisons in harry styles solo career with that of Justin Timberlake in that the both came from the biggest boybands at their time of disbanding and managing to have equal or greater success than their boybands

Yes exactly Zayn loves R&B one of the reason's he left 1D he was being creatively stifled in this regard. Harry was into more far reaching less niche music. Hence pop music = popular music. Also in any unequal situation no matter how much a head start the working class mixed race background person may get or how talented, the posh background (social capital and networks in place and easily and readily accessible) cis passing white guy will always be afforded time to improve, afforded mistakes and learning, be afforded acknowledgement of talent and thus catch up in short time and surpass the working class background, brown, black, mixed race person in termsof numbers but also publicly recognised accolades. It really is inevitable. I absolutely love Michael Kiwanuka song 'Black man in a White world' really puts into focus how non white persons have to navigate their careers, work, life against a system not built for or by them.

He was the most charismatic and interesting, besides he sings well and is a performer.
