My first time trying it today. XD (It was pricey, but it’s so BEAUTIFUL, the flavor, the texture, IT’S GOOD STUFF)

This is so funny. I’ve been eating Häagen-Dazs ice cream for decades and I always assumed it translated to something in Dutch. To find out it actually has no meaning is pretty funny. But it certainly stands for super high quality ice cream! ✌🏻

***** Ha! Blue Bells, please. You can't possibly be serious. They use artificial flavors and various stabilizers all the time. Häagen-Dazs uses cream for that, which is why it's more expensive in dollars and calories. But if I want ice cream with stabilizers and artificial flavors, yeah, I'll definitely check them out, thanks.

You, all of you who've commented here-you're all morons. I put it to you that you've either never had Häagen-Dazs ice cream, or you have, and know it's obviously superior, but can't resist the urge to argue on the internet. Either way, you're idiots.

I am Reuben and Rose’s granddaughter and I spy some incorrect info here. The original flavors were choco, vanilla, coffee, rum raisin and boysenberry. My mom, Doris added vanilla swiss almond to the mix. She was also present on the day they named it. She was 16. I never heard my grandfather say he cared for danish furniture…but he did admire Duncan Hines and that is where the name developed from, My mom and grandfather were at odds over franchising the stores. It took years of convincing and lots of family argument. I was 17 when we sold the business. I am really proud of my family and love that so many of the comments are positive about the quality of the ice cream. My grandfather had an amazing ability to know what tasted good. I would go to the factory and watch him quality control batches. If you think the pints are good you should try them straight out of the machines….heaven. RIP Poppy & My amazing grandmother Rose. How I miss them.

My favorites: Vanilla, Coffee and Green Tea. The story of the made-up name is amusing. But in Norwegian "hagen" means "the garden" while "das" or "dass" is a coarse slang term for an outhouse or in modern usage sometimes also a modern toilet in all the Scandinavian languages, a loan word derived from the German definite article , originally from the German expression (the small house, i.e. the outhouse). By euphemistic omission of the main word; thus, in the Scandinavian languages Häagen-Dazs would be saying "the garden outhouse" with Hungarian- and German-looking extra letters and diagraphs.

The name is supposed to sound Scandinavian. As a Scandinavian, that sounds nothing like it.

The strawberry is in a class of its own, i can count the ingredients in it, in one hand. None comes close to it. I was had blue bell strawberry ice cream and spat right back up. I could taste the artificialness, i couldn’t even pronounce some of their ingredients. I can’t even count the ingredients it had. Only Haagan Daz for me
