No, the eligibility rules should not be changed! The reason women’s basketball is becoming more popular is players stay, and give the fans buy-in. The one-and-done phenomenon causes fans not to care. The rule also results in college degrees and time for players to live a true college experience. Greed is not everything. Can we just do something right for a change, instead of succumbing to the nose candy of instant gratification?

Clark is definitely is great when you consider that she elevates players with average talent. THe team around her at Iowa are not top level recruits. You can see they depend on Caitlin's court vision and ability to draw defensive attention. Also one of Caitlin's weaknesses when she was younger was that she would get into shooting slumps and compound them with careless mistakes. She has really been limiting that this season. You can argue that Clark still isn't the best defender, (though she's improved) but the tremendous pressure she puts on defenses with her range and ability to find the open teammate offsets any defensive deficiencies she might have.

Every sporting person sees her stroke and it’s undeniable. It’s also extremely impressive how she carries a team with her overall stats…those are some GAUDY overall stat lines. Even if that was your only goal, that’s really hard to do for men or women. But they win games too. Playing for the championship. Also very crucially, it’s an inspirational thing with young girls, for them to see men and women alike genuinely respect a female ball player to THIS degree. I’m usually not cheesy like that, but it’s very legit praise, not fake, so that has to mentioned as that extra kick that is making her skyrocket as a brand, I think.

Statistics aside: 1. Paige and Caitlin played on the same US team as high schoolers, talent wise it was known that Paige was the better player and Clark a close second. It was also known that Clark was a slightly more prolific scorer but Paige was all around better. This observation tested true into their freshman years as Paige carried UCONN single handedly to the final four and POY as a freshman. (CC would get her POY eventually...) 2. Multiple reasons why Paige would never outscore CC, playing for Geno, playing for UCONN, Geno's coaching style, and the elephant in the room... CC actually HAD a better supporting cast in IOWA and they were built and played around her talents and were coached as Iowa's offensive strategy!!! UCONN's supporting cast of players actually nullified Paige's talents and hold her back, and Aaliyah also had to get her 20 points. In addition, the team they were supposed to have was never present when Paige was able to play. 3. Also, due to the Strength of Schedule UCONN plays in November/December, their team is often beat up. Truth is, if the team were healthy, Paige would be relegated to averaging about 20 points per game, but would have probably won the National Championship for another 4-peat... 4. Semantics, in men's BB, people are either Lebron or Michael. Paige or CC depends on what you value for your team. A singular star scoring 60 or a 20 point triple double or championships?

The interesting thing about CAREERS is exactly that, the timing. The current phenom is Caitlin Clark. Is she the BEST OF THE BEST, or just another tick of the clock. Caitlin Clark will have to settle that story on her own merits. The interesting thing about College and Pro Sports is the fact that there is few chumps in Pros. You could run up your score against College players though. Bear with me. We all saw over the years so many "phenom" College QB's coming out of Texas and other places. Best damn QB in the last half century we were told. Then reality strikes, its called playing in the Pros. And the wheels come off the phenom cart. I'm not saying Caitlin Clark will be a Pro BUST. But the GOAT designation has to be EARNED. Only the media keep bestowing GOAT because its easy to do, and harder to earn. The problem I'm seeing with liberal media is, they are tagging an unfair SAVOIR of the WNBA unto her shoulders. Fact is though, and it can't be avoided. The product the WNBA is at best poor, and the financial situation of the WNBA worse. Think about this for a second, Caitlin Clark would be better suited financially speaking to quit basketball and be a College Sports Commentator and earn a huge profit calling Weekend Games. Her stint as an WNBA player will be Contract Controlled as per the Leagues Financial Office. She would be capped at $200 Grand. Her money though would come from endorsements. Now as for the WNBA itself. Why would you trash a commodity that could possibly bring in more money to increase your players contract talks. There lies the problem, both Reese and Clark and some other interesting NCAA Players can't save the WNBA. The intrinsic thing about all of them coming into the WNBA, is the apple only shines for so long, then it withers away. How long can Clark & Company draw fans into an orphan duck sports league where even women won't buy a ticket. There is a reason why the WNBA is a financial failure. It isn't Men treating it badly. It's the ambivalence of Women not showing up to Women's sporting events. Women are more interested in the cosmetic use of the Kardasians, than watching any Women's Sports.

Let's not abuse Pistol Pete's record when he didn't have the three-point shot or shot clock. He scored his points in three seasons. The records need to be separated by significant rule changes. It's the same in the NFL. The Dolphins are held as some sort of wonder team for going 14-0 in the regular season and winning the Super Bowl. They ended with a record of 17-0. The Patriots went 16-0 in the regular season but lost the Super Bowl, ending with an 18-1 record. I think the latter is a much more difficult task and more worthy of praise. Saying the draft rules should be changed is silly. Allowing the players to stay for four years allows for them to develop into stars and allows for exciting stories to develop. If Clark had been drafted after her freshman year, she and women's basketball would be worse for it. If anything, the men's draft should change.

They did not allow freshman to play varsity when Pistol Pete played; his records are done in 3 seasons. He averaged 44 points per game and there was no 3 point shot when he played. A coach charted his shots, if there had been 3 point shot he would have averaged over 50 points per game!

Its really difficult to make this comparison. Sure, Maravich shot a fair number of deep 2-pointers that would have been 3 pointers today. But we need to keep in mind that he was NEVER defended back then in deep court the way a good 3-point shooter is today, because there was no real "benefit" to over-defending him. So its a little unfair to suggest that just because he DID hit quite a few long 2-pointers that all of those would have translated to 3 pointers made today. Its a different game today played by different "rules" (not in the actual rule sense but in the way you shape the game) and it really is unfair to compare the games.

You lost men when you started comparing her to men...leave that alone, it's a different game.

@@SpookyApparition Simple ass kissing. She's a terrific female player. I love watching her, but as so often nowadays, sycophants compare women to men in sports, it's not fair to the women.

Ok well when everyone is done repeating the promotional hype you might want to consider that she played in 56 more games than Pete Maravich on way to "breaking" his scoring record. For those of you who are math challenged as well as reality challenged, that's 67% more games. As far as being reality challenged let's be clear that a team comprised of NCAA women's basketball allstars, including Clark, would lose and lose by a bunch to a team comprised of the best 15 year old boy's. And such a game, if any of the over hyped promoters would even allow it to occur, would provide the correct context in terms of the actual level of play.

Caitlyn Clark I didn't even know about her. I saw something recently she broke the record for most points I think. She can do it all. Like Michael Jordan. That's who she reminds me of.
