    Cece Moore is incredible. it's so good to see genetic genealogy being used for these heinous crimes. I'm very interested in how this case pans out. I used the same sort of technique to work out who was my paternal grandmother's biological father was.

    This advancement in technology is so exciting to me! I took 2 dna tests this summer and uploaded them to GEDMatch so I could contribute to these efforts in some small way. No one should get away with murder!

    It's unfortunate that the two largest databases (Ancestry and 23andme) won't cooperate with Law Enforcement. CeCe and others doing this work are limited to two small databases: GEDMatch and FTDNA. A lot more of these cold cases would be solved if Ancestry and 23andme made their databases available.

    People who signed up to use these services did not consent to their DNA profiles being given over to law enforcement. That’s the problem. People were misled by these companies, who turned around and sold their DNA profiles a few years ago. The government doesn’t just have the right to obtain everyone’s DNA.

I will explain later,bye

    "Genetic genealogy?" I think you mean familial DNA matching. Genetic genealogy is a redundant phrase that means nothing.

    It's the term that has been coined for it. Genealogical research is used to do the matching (i.e. all the trees she had to make).

    A cold case but has genealogy been used in an ongoing investigation case to make an arrest?its relatively new as she says plus it's not admissible in court as CECE Moore further states so it won't be allowed in the Idaho murders either.

  • @HopeBonarcher

    @HopeBonarcher

    Just from my VERY limited understanding from watching true crime shows, the ancestry stuff isn’t admissible but if she finds a match and then tips the police, they can then look into the person and find actual admissible evidence if there is any… ie alibi, motive, past history with the victim, criminal history, etc… pretty interesting stuff.

  • @sylviabargas3340

    @sylviabargas3340

    It's not admissible by itself. Only admissible if it identifies a suspect whose DNA matches that of the crime scene.

    It's not mentioned to be used in a court case, it is used to find the person responsible. It is the job of the police to then build their case using evidence.
