How Genetic Genealogy Might Help Solve the JonBenet Ramsey Murder Case, with CeCe Moore

Megyn Kelly is joined by CeCe Moore, Chief Genetic Genealogist at Parabon NanoLabs and founder of DNA Detectives, to discuss the key role genetic genealogy could play in the JonBenet Ramsey case, the process for deciphering “touch DNA”, the best genetic bet for solving the murder case, and more.

I believe Mr. Kenda, the Homicide Hunter, was asked about this case and the only thing he would say, was that the scene had been contaminated so badly in the beginning, it would be hard to solve at that time. As was mentioned in this interview, they talked about how new procedures were coming out all the time. There will come a time it can be solved, but they have to hold on to what little DNA they have.

I'm surprised Megyn wonders at the beginning why there isn't more DNA to test in this case. There's potentially too much DNA, which is the problem. As soon as JBR's body was "discovered" and picked up by her father, his DNA was all over her. And her mother's DNA could understandably be on a young child as well. The DNA found in her underwear is significant and important to test because there's no reasonable explanation for why anyone else's DNA should be there (unless they had a laundry service doing their washing or something). While I appreciate Mr Ramsey's newfound sense of urgency, it doesn't make up for him and his wife refusing to talk with police immediately after JBR's death - or at any reasonable time afterward.

It also wasn’t going to be solved any time soon because the police didn’t both to rope in the boundaries that was needed to prevent more people from contaminating the whole house. The police really messed that up and so many people were infiltrating and ruining whatever evidence that could have been needed to find out who kill Jon Benet and have strong evidence to convict them.

The community needs to know who murdered Jon Bennet. The family needs peace but this murder only happened in 1996. The murderer might be in their 50s or 60s, now, and they will have have other victims. These monsters will continue to cause harm until their last breath. I'm sorry, I've dug into this case several times with what evidence is known. Everything points to the older brother. Point 1- Jon Bonet had an undigested piece of pineapple that came from the brothers "midnight snack" bowl of pineapples in milk. Point 2 - The brother hit Jon Bonet just a week or so before with a golf club leaving a gash on her head after he got mad at her for bothering him. Point 2 - Neighbors and family friends pointed out Burke (the brother) had a very quick temper and lashed out usually without thinking. I surmise, Jon Bonnet stole a piece of Burkes Pineapple, he got enraged and hit her with a heavy flashlight (was pictured at the scene on the countertop just feet from his bowl of pineapples) Jon Bonets was then unconscious, her head smashed inward and the mother panicked and conceived a plan of a kidnapping gone wrong to cover for Burke since she already thought Jon Bonet was dying. The mother strangled her, wrote a ransom note (on her own stationary mind you), put her in the basement wrapped in a blanket, cleaned the mess up in the kitchen and called the police. Here's the thing too... the flashlight, it had 0 finger prints on it, like not even the batteries. The note experts claim had strong signs of being the disguised hand writing of the mother, AND it was on her own stationary with the indentations of the writing on the next page below the one the note was written on. Stationary was found neatly tucked away in a desk drawer and the pen used to write it also. Law enforcement made a huge mess of the crime scene, almost nothing was done correctly, but concluded it was Burke, but no one wanted that conclusion, or money bought the conclusion, I'm not sure. There is a lot more that points to Burke Ramsey as the killer, to much to sit for an hour typing. But look at all the evidence yourself and make your conclusion based on what is available.

How about getting this scarce DNA sample cloned or copied in some way and running tests on that and if the genealogy test works (there are relatives that one can start their research from) have the original sample tested for final and legally correct results. Of course this is a lengthy and costly way...and the father may not have time or money... But it's an idea.

Do you know how many people have worked on this case behind the scenes? It’s obvious that they need to use the genealogy system to identify the killer. DNA from her underwear. No other evidence on scene can be depended on based on the fact that the home was basically an open house. The scene was not secured. Tons of people raced to the home including family and friends and tons of cops. All the evidence found would be deemed circumstantial even if the suspect was present while the police were there. All genealogy comparison will do is point them to potential suspects unless the suspect has done an at home dna test themselves.

Normally I too am hesitant on criticizing the police, they have reasons for different strategies they work on based on past experiences. With the horrific Idaho murders, had to just stop watching some of it cause it was obvious people were not understanding how the police operate, no thanks to propaganda in the last 10 years. However, the police at Boulder Creek need to recognize the manner mistakes they made, from not treating a missing girl as a potential crime scene that needed to be blocked off of any other person from accessing the building, and they did not do well with how they treated the family. It’s professional to treat them as a suspect, but honestly most of the allegations thrown at the family made no sense. Unfortunately Patsy passed away without ever knowing who did that to her daughter, and she died with many people accusing her and the family of murdering or at least covering up the death of Jon Benet. John and Burke need to know what happened to Jon Benet, who was the one who took her life and ruined all of their lives. Witnessing so many crime cases being solve resentful because of the game changer in DNA search through family genealogy, this case has a shot to finally be solved.

Hey Megan Kelly ask John why he picked her dead body up and carried it up stairs and laid it on the floor with dozens of thelr friends mukking about their house. When he found her and yes John found her why did he not send his friend upstairs to bring down the police officer. Why disturb her body. The crime was called in as a kidnapping not a murder so the family bears some responsibility they just do.
