How Foreigners REALLY Feel About PORTUGAL

How Foreigners really feel about Portugal. In this Portugal travel vlog, I am in Lisbon and I am asking Foreigner immigrants from different countries who made the move to Portugal was it worth moving to Lisbon, Portugal? I ask people from Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Berlin and the UK what their experience as a foreigner in Portugal is, including how the Portuguese loclas treat them or feel about people from outside moving to Portugal. Check out what they had to say about how foreigners really feel about living in Portugal.

Who am I?
A man from the USA trying to discover the world one place at a time, while sharing the experiences through my lens. I like traveling to places that are usually not first on most people’s itinerary and showing everyone that these places are worth the journey. I want to experience all the countries I visit as a member of the society but at the same time learn about the culture, food and beautiful people. Growth is not achievable without leaving your comfort zone, so just do it!

I think the problem with foreigners not feeling integrated in Portugal is because they should learn the language and interact with the locals. I see many foreigners coming to Portugal and I know many who have been here for eight years and don't even speak the language. When we go to a place we must respect the local culture. I think most of them come, they don't learn the language, they don't respect the culture. The Portuguese are very respectful because of the culture they practice and many who come here think that because they see the locals so friendly they abuse.

I agree with most of your comments, but the Portuguese are very closed. They don't really like non white people. I don't like to generalize, but like the German girl says, Portuguese are not as warm as they think. One would learn the language if they had local friends.

Salaam brother & thanks Myer 😊 This video was a great idea as I've seen very little in the way of English speakers covering ethnic minorities in Portugal. You have a great warmth about you which seems to relax people who are able to talk freely about their situation. When I visit Lisbon in May, I'll definitely be vlogging Martim Moniz from a British Bangladeshi point of view, as that is a predominantly South Asian area. Have a truly amazing week my friend 🤗

That’s going to change . Martim Moniz is getting a makeover and it will no longer be a hangout for illegal immigrants to hang out . Legal immigration btw is welcomed in Portugal.

You are correct Mr. Myer. I am sorry for throwing shade at american people, but you must understand: the american way is to look very open and welcome.... until they pull the rug ruthlessly from under you (being in business or in private life). The Portuguese people, on the other way, may seem closed - because they have close family and friends to look after in their daily lives and not only on a holiday a year -, but if they like you, it is for real. If they are not ready to say they like you or to call you a friend because they have just know you for a year or so... take a chill pill. Culture timings are different.

You had me till you brought up that Brazilians are more friendly than Portuguese. I saw your other video of Sintra and the Portuguese guide seemed very friendly. That’s pretty disrespectful to everybody in Portugal to parrot an old trope about Portuguese people that is not true. You said I don’t mean to diss Portuguese people but you dissed them anyway, though I don’t think they really care. Secondly you were asking about how Portuguese people treat these foreigners living in Portugal then you said you agreed that countries need to practice controlled tourism . Tourism isn’t the problem. The problem is mass uncontrolled illegal immigration that’s happening in Europe with people coming especially from India, Pakistan etc., They’re falsifying documents and human trafficking illegals into Portugal, the UK., etc. It’s destroying Europe.

I’m sorry you feel offended, but my guide was nice to me because I obviously paid her for her time and then we built a bond thru out the day, but randomly speaking with Portuguese people, you’ll notice if you watch my other series I’m all about talking to people and it’s very hard to just have a random candid convo, I tried but I got a weird response and look many times. Just sharing our honest experiences, hope you understand brother.

This was a unique video. Western nations are importing people now from Asia primarily. No one is kicking out the locals bro. The locals have a low birth rate. I am wondering why portugal doesnt open immigration to Brazilians. They already speak the language and share the same religion. Doesnt seem to be as racist as Canada or USA which are also importing people. Canada let in 1 million immigrants in 2023 alone..almost half from India. Europeans dont seem to be as outgoing as people from warm weather countries. I think it is the climate. I feel like you could have been a live news reporter 😊!

Brazilians are by far the biggest portion of imigrants in Portugal, 29.3% of the total, followed by the British at a much lower 6%
