To clarify, his oil filter is $40 because he’s buyin it from the dealer. You can easily get a similar quality filter elsewhere for like $5-15.

You can spend $20k on 'stuff' for these cars in an eyeblink. That's just a start. They can be economical to run. But if you own one keep a tight rein on mods and 'performance upgrades'. Those will cost ya.

I'd highly recommend full synthetic oil despite not driving the car over 7500 miles. Especially if you red line shift a lot or put the engine under stress. Sythentic protects the engine a lot better than standard oil.

You talked about the clutch wear on a Lotus. You shifter 10 times in the time span you talked about the clutch. Now I'm not trying to degrade your driving or anything. I would really like to see you work on that in the future because it can really cost you a lot of money in the future. I made mistakes driving manual in the past I still do. But shifting 10 times in that short time frame was fairly unnecessary and definately something you can work on.

Thanks man, in the states they are asking 20k over MSRP. Not many out yet. But is just another sedan like the M3. I like the Exige because is rare and a raw. A car that doesn't devalue based on its tech, because there is none LOL. Here in the US, the exiges are pretty rare. The Elises are much more common, and although very similar, I like the stance of the lines of the Exige. I don't intent to track the car, more for canyon driving on weekends

JoTokutora I live in the states. anyone that pays dealer markup is a fool. plenty of dealerships out there that don't charge it. you just have to be willing to drive to it or have it delivered. my neighbor had to drive 8hrs to pick up a GT350 for sticker.

again....do the oil change yourself. here in dallas I would have had to pay $485 for the oil change at the dealer...I got a quote out of curiosity after doing it myself at a lotus racing shop that loaned me their lift. with a lift and air tools it will take you a half an hour and save you over $400 dollars

the issue is not the transmission or toyota engine, the problem is you must disassemble the entire rear of the car, the whole body has to come off. you cannot unbolt the tranmission until it is pulled out of the car with the engine. basically, this is an engine out job.
