The Orion Market is more of a convenient store for tourists and locals; however, most locals make their purchases at the local market. Most Peruvians don’t consume peanut butter and Nutella therefore they import them mainly for foreigners. Perú it’s still in the beginning stages of growing the craft beer industry. The foreign alcohol is more expensive due to the cost of import and taxes. Anyway! I’m glad you all were able to visit.

The bread looks good and it is cheap. It is a shame there isn't much variety in cheese. Can you find many imported goods? This is a really interesting video idea, I may do a similar one for where I am now in Thailand. I want to try Inca kola! Pisco is lovely so that is good to see it is not too expensive there.

Passion fruit = maracuyá. Granadilla, what you showed in your vid, is a different thing, it is actually sweet not sour like maracuya. I don't think granadillas are grown in North America. Here in Canada, you have to pay CAD 3.00 per unit. 😭

The taste and texture of passion fruit and granadilla are very similar. The most noticable difference being from the outer appearance. Passion fruit are a bit smaller, with a dark reddish purple color. And granadilla skin is yellow tinged with a bit of orange. They seem so similar because they are from the same genus. There was an article I found however from the university of Florida. And it talks about the history of passion fruit. Stating that the first European report of passion fruit was by Cieza de Leon in 1553 when he was a civil servant in Colombia (Fulmer and macdougal 2004) he called the fruit " granadilla" ( small pomegranates)which was potentially passiflora ligulares. So anyway don't worry too much about it. My wife is Peruvian and she calls it granadilla In Spanish and passion fruit in english

@@Andrew-om1pw have you tried both fruits? Because I’m from Peru and I grew up eating granadilla which is sweet unless you are confusing it with granada fruit, as there is granadilla, granada and passion fruit. I recommend you to eat all three and you’ll taste the difference

  • @Andrew-om1pw

@@zariapamelabyrne50 yes I've tried passion fruit and it's a bit sour for me. The granadilla is a bit sweeter. The granadilla genus is passaflora, the family is passafloraceae, and the species is ligulares. The purple passion fruit genus is passaflora, the family is passafloraceae, and the species is Edulis. So the 2 have the same genus the same family, but different species. Like my wife she is Peruvian and I'm Irish. But our kids are related to us both. Our kids look more like me than there mother. And when my wife was at the store with our daughter a woman confronted my wife because she didn't think that she was her daughter. I did ask my wife , and she agrees with you. But I think they are not the same but similar
