This has to be one of the closest match ups in the World cup for a long while. Both teams look devastating, and surely the winner of this game will become the favourites alongside Brazil. Its going to be a cracking game for the neutral, and an anxiety ridden 90 minutes if you're French or English. Good luck to both teams and fans

As a French man, I think it is 50/50 this year, even a slight advantage to England due to their depth of bench, and overall talent all around the field. We have some fireworks in the bag and a good midfield but some issues in defense, a bench that no one knows about, so if England plays well they can do it. My hands are getting sweaty just thinking about it, messieurs les Anglais, tirez les premiers ! Que le meilleur gagne !

i think our bench is the second best after brazils, it’s just we have a lot of great players and not enough world class players, other teams might not have as much depth but they have more world class players in the 11

@@chazzyrs869 I think we have one genius(mbappe) and two top player for me Griezmann is top but not world class anymore and Dembele could be world class but inconsistent. And we have a big strong elite striker in that style with Giroud. And,in my opinion for me in England you have 1 world class player with Harry kane and 2 future great player with Foden and belingham ( sorry for orthography ). But for me individually it's 50/50. The Game about Saturday it's not about that.

If you wanna feel positive Rory, Giroud is the secret to France and his style is easily countered by England’s CBs. Contain Mbappe and they don’t have their usual release/free man in as good a spot as they’re used to.

@@lucian6857 as a neutral, Rashford & Kane are more freightening than Dembele & Giroud. I think, for once, that the English people are underrating the midfield. Bellingham, Rice and whoever plays with them (I’d prefer Henderson in this game) can battle Griezmann, Tchouaméni and Rabiot any day of the week. Obviously, Griezmann and Mbappe would start for england without doubt, But other than that, when it comes to midfield and attack, I dont think you should fear them. Hope I’m right. Nobody wants France to win.

They don't have any superstars though. Just strength in the depth. They don't have an Mbappe or a Neymar who can just win the game in a flash of brilliance. Foden perhaps has that potential, but he's still to make a serious impact at international level. He isn't even a guaranteed starter. Plus, it's the English. It's easy to get inside their heads. Croatia and Italy both showed that despite being inferior sides, you can still school England. They've had 56 years of being losers after all. That mentality (for them) is unfortunately there.

England got the highest goal difference in the group stages. Southgate has most tournament wins over any other England manager. England has the best quality in depth. Therefore, I predict France to win 4-1

I'm hearing a lot back 4-5 or stick with recent system. Maybe I'm completely mad but I'm thinking: 3 4 3 Pichford, Arnold, Walker, Shaw - Phillips, Bellingham, Rice - Henderson - Foden, Rashford, Grealish to start. Completely shake it up, disrupt the midfield, play a very high line. Go all in on a strong first half, save Kane and a back 4 for the second half.

Going for a back five will invite more pressure and inadvertently make Mbappe and the like more dangerous. 4 at the back, settle into the game, try to keep hold of possession even if we're just knocking it around in our own half. Let the game manifest and be aggressive off the ball. They're not ready for war

@@tfender4957 tchouameni has a better long pass skills too, bellingham looks like pogba in his game, more a box to box player, but don't underestimate tchouameni, as bellingham he can keep the ball with his strenght, dribbling opponent or shoot from long range bellingham is more complete as he is more decisive than tchouameni, but aurelien is world class in his role, which isnt exactly the same as bellingham

@@Hakwbebsu26 like I said as long as Giroud is covered well his crosses will be less effective. You can double up on both wings but that gives Griezmann space to collect the ball which is more dangerous to me than Dembele going on the outside and sending crosses to a marked Giroud.

Not sure I agree with your analysis, lads. Southgate has only played 4 at the back so far and I am not persuaded he will change; I think he has learned from Euro 2020 [2021]. France can only be truly worried if they believe that England can score freely; playing 5 at the back will in some extent remove that threat, giving confidence to France. Our biggest weakness, imho, is having 2 relatively slow CBs facing up to a veteran, and clever, CF, as we haven't faced a decent CF yet in this world cup of Giroud's level. But we must play to our strengths, build upon what we have already witnessed in this competition. Creativity and determination in midfield wins this match. We all talk about Mbappe, who will beat his man (and others) sometimes nomatter what, but it is their midfield that dictates their play. Not only Tchouameni, but especially Griezman with Rabiot having an almost free role. Neutralise the midfield and win the game.

England has a quality team, but you can see the high level of tactics in the goals England scores, which are definitely the manager and his staff skills. However, I believe, there is some problem in England's defense, mainly because of not in the good form CBs, and the lack of anchorman in front of them.

the most dissapointing part for me is when ever England play the focus is how to stop a particular player of the opposition. England has a lot of very good players who can cause problems to any side in the world but if the English press cant back their own players then I wonder what that does for their confidence. The main thing that is highlighted to me in every international tournament of recent years is that England have some really good players BUT we do not have world class players or the so called "world beaters" that the panel mention. We have players with massive potential like Saka, Bellingham and Foden and we have players like our captain Kane who unfortunately, have not realised their expected potential (in terms of trophies) and are unfortunately in their final years as international players. Is it Foden and Walker with the most trophies at club level?? How many of them are European?... Just deep for one moment that the majority of England is under the belief that a better manager will get a bunch of "potential" players to win a major international cup.... you guys!? Always over-estimating and then looking for someone to blame. I'm going to do a Kevin Campbell and say "IT'S THE PLAYERS!" They're just not ready and of the level... YET. These other teams have it all and then some.

Play 5. Walker as a 3rd cb and TAA as a rwb so he can win the game

I have to say this, but as a French man I think it's going to be a game that will be won by the team that scores first. And I think France will catch you guys sleeping. Mbappe is hugely overrated. He rips up in UberEats and has played a few average teams in the WC so far. Before the goals against Poland he was terrible, lost the ball about 20 times. He's a bully, he plays well when it's easy like Neymar, Poland pushed for a goal, he didn't track back and had energy against a back 2, that's not impressive, a better team punishes the front 3 for not getting back. As a man city fan every time we've played PSG him and Neymar go missing and sulk, he gives up every time he meets walker. Same against Dormund, Bayern, anyone decent and he doesn't show up. His ability is elite, but he's weak minded, I put Chiesa and Vini above him as wingers

I'm sorry but I still think we are overrating our players and under rating the others. I think other teams like Brazil have an amazing squad too. Rabiot this tournament is elite, this guy was playing champions league football with psg at 18yo, Declan has never played in once CL games. This is not Premier League, it's international football which is very different. You also forget now Griezmann is playing in that midfield 3 and when he plays for France, he never never miss. Vs Switzerland in 2021 France were 3 1 up before Deschamps sub him. This guy get the ball back at a high rate and give it in front of him with high quality. I'm a MUFC fan but I would start Saka in this match (and I really like Rashford). Both Saka and Foden provoke defences better than Rashford and we need to destablize France first and foremost. Rashford's pace would be ideal in the second half when France are tiring and if we were winnng (I cross my fingers). Having said all of that, I do think that Rashford can link up well with Kane when he comes into a more central position.

You guys should underestimate Ousmane Dembele at your own peril.

I'm British-French in Paris and I can tell you that England are honestly a scary team. For France, the midfield depth and fullback positions are the weak links. Having top class players like Rashford or Grealish to sub in after an hour is going to be a massive advantage.

If we can cut the service to Mbappe, the French are much weaker...... 100%, and the way to accomplish this is to ruin Griezmann's day by using Hendo on him. The only RB able to match Mbappe for pace is Kyle Walker, and he happens to be English.... which is perfect👌. It's going to be a tough game as Fance are one of the toughest tests in World football and they're the reigning champions but I think we can do it. People seem to forget that we have some of the most exciting and talented young players in the World, these lads are better than any of the players I've ever seen in a 3 Lions shirt at their age and they'll run rings round the French defence as they're the main weakness in that team..... and that's without mentioning another weakness in the French squad, which is the available substitutes. I think that our bench is absolutely jam packed with attacking talent so when they've had Foden and Kayo running at them for an hour, Southgate can bring on Grealish, Rashford, Wilson or even Gallagher.

I agree. This french team is pretty much weakened without its star players. A handful of decent players ain't going to save them when we got all of ours ready in the wings. England are through to the Semis. I'm sure of it .

I would love this to be true as a French supporter but I think the injuries we’ve suffered leading up to and during the WC makes this a much more even game. A lot of things seem to have fallen Englands way so far which is always a good sign but I hope that luck changes in Les Bleus favour

The answer to how England beat France is Kyle walker, Jude Bellingham and Rashford. Kyle walker is one of three fullbacks who can say they pocketed mbappe. Kyle pace and defensive ability are good counters to mbappe if you play trippier mbappe will kill him. Jude Bellingham will have to take control of the midfield from start to finish. Finally Rashford has grown strength from strength in this World Cup and is hot so he needs to play cause his confidence is there and he will give the same threat mbappe gives England by being to rapid of player for that French defence which is shaky this tournament.

I think the biggest problem for england is mentally, france is a huge team, i think beating france now is worth more than beating brazil back in the day before the griezmann and mbappe, the team to beat was brazil, but not it's france. you migh be saying oh ok, why didn't switherland win the last euro then they beat france, right? well it's because france's preparation vs switherland isn't exactly the same vs a big team or a big name like a spain or england or germnay france bring out their best when they go against big names and that's why i think it's diifcult to beat them, and menatlity like i said would probably be a deciding factor, when france are coming at you, mbappe and greizmann and co you might just get scared and it's scary honestly. but here is a cookie, france is yes the best team imo but beating them doesn't mean winning the world cup beating them means you had a good game, you won, but are you gonna be able to outplay a morocco or portugal and the final a brazil/netherlands/argentina for example?? that's why i think it's not about winning vs france and have that be the goal. it's rather BEING THAT TEAM that is better than every other team at the world cup So the goal isn't to beat france, the goal is to become a team that has enough tools in its arsenal to win a world cup or a euro. so don't focus on france, giving them attention because if you did, even if you win, now you have another big name to worry about. and go throught the same mental aspect of it, no focus on you.
