I don't know why people have trouble understanding a simple concept. When an aircraft ditches in water, water can attenuate high frequency radio signals, hence the difficulty in finding the beacon in the 24-72 hour time limit. Why is this so hard to understand?

@@TactileCoder Many people don't read much and take little in the way of science classes but somehow become experts when they feel like it. To me it just goes to show we have some room for improvement in our location systems.

That's not a fair statement @@shawnmulberry774 as many are genuinely asking question. I personally have a relative on that flight and I also would like to know. The reason is should a plane hit water, it does not sink automatically therefore the beacon would have triggered something but there was nothing.

@@AircraftScience Looking forward to it. Please post the reason behind MLG that are titled fwd on B767 as well. Just wanna know is it due to C.G position so that the MLG tilted fwd?

We didn't lose it. We were steered to look elsewhere while the plane was flown somewhere else.

That plane has been severely destroyed and has sunk, because of this, the beacon has been damaged underwater
