I grease the mechanical parts inside the door and then puff graphite dust into the felt runners. The dry graphite powder is used on locks. It acts as a lubricant and will not collect dust and dirt. It is also black so it doesn't show up on the felt. It makes the window run up and down very smoothly.

As monster mechanic stated, clean any old built up dirt and grease on the sliders and the regulator and use white lithium grease to get them moving solidly again. For the tracks, first I'll clean any old lose felt and dust/dirt build up. Then I'll take powdered graphite in a tube with a needle tip applicator and apply it down the center of the sweeps on the front and back sides (top doesn't need it) and this will 90% of the time give me a good functioning window.

This is my future.... my old 92 s10 door handle driver side finally broke and I see my future .....

Thanks. This helped me a lot. I never realized that there were differences between the 82-85 door and the 86 on. You can use the later model panels. They’ll clear the dash on the 82-85. But, the mount for the interior arm rest is located upward and forward of the 82-85. Biggest problem is that even with the correct mounts there is no meat on the 82-85 doors to attach the new mount. However you could cut a thin piece of sheet metal. Like an old tag, and bridge that. Cut the slots with a dremel and keep rolling. There’s a couple of extra holes to drill to do it “right” for the clip that holds the center by the inside door handle and one by the upper hinge. Watch my video I am about to create.

I don't currently have anything with manual windows except the 91. I'm not risking messing up those panels with a rag or a tool. Lol I'm hit or miss with it. While holding the edge of a rag, get the edge between the panel and handle on the bottom and front side. So you hands would we at 12 and 9 on a clock(DRIVERS SIDE). As you pull up with your right hand, as you feel the rag grab the edge of the clip move your right hand to the left coming over top of the handle. It should drag the clip out.

No matter how carefull I am those dang plastic door panel clips always break. Spray can White lithium grease works well on the window regulator and slides seems like those plastic window guides that go in the tracks always hang up on those old felt tracks. I need to totally rebuild the guts on both the doors on my truck power lock actuators stopped working windows get jammed cause the felts are junk all the rubber window wipes and seals have rotted away after 30 + years. But the power windows still work. Somewhat. Yours are in good shape compared to mine. Lol. Having a hella time finding replacements LMC truck has some stuff but still can't find everything I need yet to get them right. Quess that's what makes it fun trying to find all the parts needed to rebuild the door guts. Lol

My GT has all the rubber replaced with NOS parts... very expensive. But totally worth it

Also, my driver side window windup works but it's not full connected. If I push hard on it ican make it roll down.. classic hold parts hiding by behind the door cards.

always try cleaning and lubing first. That old grease gets hard

I'm having problems with my window guides right now. At the bottom it just popped out like it had memory of it being rolled up and wanted to roll back out of the track. Pretty weird

I have not. Are you having issues? Those clips can be a pain in the butt. The locks are fairly easy to change out, not much room in there for video though. Lol

What is the tool called that gets loosens the plastic connectors to the door. I’m having trouble just using my hands and I don’t want to break anything.

Door panel clip removal tool. Not sure if that is an official name. Auto parts stores have them.

Theres a small metal clip that holds it on, there's a special tool for removing them. You can use a metal pic if you can see the clip

Take a steak knife and cut those tabs, replace with new. You won't break out tabs.

Repairwd the window channels. $3.00 at o Reilly auto parts
