Style change has affected my life significantly over the past few years. I'm 28 now, and have always lived life on the more rebellious side. Skateboarding, writing graffiti, skipping school, etc. I worked horses on a ranch in my late teens but never considered myself much of the cowboy type. It was just a job for me at the time. However over the past half decade or so I've realized what I missed out on and have been slowly getting back into horsemanship. I've ditched the skate shoes and snap backs and have been investing in several pair of quality cowboy boots and hats. They've changed my life. A simple compliment on my hat from a stranger is enough to make my week. It's not just an accessory, but a way of life. You have to uphold a code that's been passed down for a century. Lately however I keep looking at different suits. I love the look of tweed and have been trying to think of how I could mix some western attire in without going "over the top." Really been loving your content. Gives me something extra to look forward to everyday. Thanks for reading. -Justin D

Hi Justin, thank you for your message. This is great to hear. As for combining tweed with Western wear, check out the style of Ralph Lauren - I think he does this very well. Cowboy boots with jeans, a denim shirt, and a tweed jacket is a great look, in my opinion

I have noticed too that the more society implodes, if I dress nicer than everyone else where I am going people on the margins of society don’t mess with you. They seem to have an attitude that this person must be pretty important…I better stay clear. Therefore, clothes can add to your security out in public.

Dear Gent, I have one suit that I normally have to wear no more than perhaps four times a year, and I'm grateful it's not more than that. I find it very restricting because I can't carry the things I like having to hand. You're remark about getting you noticed was interesting when you mentioned the idea of hanging round in an expensive locus while wearing a tracksuit; the rule for getting noticed therefore is to blend in. For the sort of places I can afford, I'd likely get rolled if I turned looking the way you do. It's always interesting to see how the other half lives, however, so please keep up the good work. Frank.

I love listening to songs which are heavy on the guitar (Jimi Hendrix, Van Halen, Black Sabbath, Rainbow, Gary Clark Jr) and Video Game OSTs while working out (Yakuza 0, Cyberpunk 2077, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, Max Payne 3), but at the same time I can listen to Air Suite no. 3 by Bach and Sicilienne by Faure while reading. I think learning an instrument like guitar, for me, has made me appreciate other genres and types of music. Whatever speaks to you, you should cherish it. Bye.

Dressing well is a form of communication!👔👞 People don't like to admit it, but your judged by your appearance. If a Man looks his best when he's well dressed, then why would'nt he want to dress well everyday, or at least more often? What I think happened to today's sartorial taste level in society is that "Casual Friday's", got out of hand! Nowadays people tend to want to dress casually everyday! To each is own! I do think a Man making an effort to elevate his Sartorially aesthetic taste level goes a long way to improving his value to himself and his surroundings! If a Man is surrounded by beauty, it will have a positive effect on his well being!👍

I love classic style and fully support the movement, but I think it's deeply important not to go all in for striving for superficial appearances or "luxury". The saying "all style and no substance" is well known and exists for good reason - all luxury and no struggle makes one soft and is akin to degeneracy. Philosophers have written about this for eons.

Just want to chime in with a comment on how you can style up in any genre. I myself am a through many years metal guitar player (yes, bands, gigs, performances, own studio and all) who spent my twenties in the usual attire of worn out jeans and t-shirts with one upon the other of studded belts, braces etc. A manager once told me: The band makes great music but you look like any other act on stage,- you need something visual outside of just the music to set you apart. With that comment we started paying attention to our stage attire and designed stage outfits for ourselves,- basically the same style as always but levelled up. Instead of the worn put faded jeans it became quality lether pants, instead of the worn out sneakers it became quality boots,- be it Doc Martens, biker boots or black on black cowboy boots instead of washed out t-shirts it became thin quality tasseled leather jackets etc. Needles to say we stood apart and looked like rock stars before we had even become so. ( Fake it ´till you make it, you know.) :) Today I still have stage attires one or two levels above what you would normally wear,- next to my quality suits, coats and shirts. Wouldn´t want to find myself at the local pub in an outfit consisting of washed out and worn out faded jeans, a washed out band t-shirt, dirty and worn out sneakers and a long unwashed ponytail with a pint of stale warm lager in my hand entertaining the crowd with stories of how once I was a roadie for Oasis in the 90s. It´s very much a question of what kind of signal you´re sending to yourself,- telling and showing yourself what you´re worth.

Young Mr. Z...While you are already high up towards the sartorial summit, my ancient, but not inexperienced eye detects a slight tension in the buttoning of your 6 on 2, which might find remedy in an equally slight movement of a button. Of course, this might be due to lighting or position or some other optical misfeasance, and not a fault in the jacket. Did you notice this in this video perchance?

I have to say, I very much enjoy your channel. For work, I often have to wear suits (Oxxford) “nice” shoes, ties etc (Alden cordovan because it’s all that fits and I can walk in since AE went to crap and Hermes because I like the cat ties). But I have found that I am most comfortable when I am wearing dickies pants, nicks boots, and a generic shirt with a ball cap because that is who I am. I do have Walls jackets as well. Extremely well made and durable, stylish in my view too. If I am coming from work I often will leave my dress shirt on (I have a stash of wrinkle free neiman marcus before they banned whatever it is that makes them actually wrinkle free). It may be incongruous, but it suits me. Absent being told to remove my hat at a few steakhouses by young hostesses, which I of course decline because it is nothing more than racist policy, I have not been refused service or treated wrongly due to my appearance. I suppose it helps that I am familiar with the staff at places I frequent. If a double breasted blue blazer with brass buttons makes you feel like I feel when I dress as I prefer, I absolutely see the value in doing so.

It never fails: once you dress up -- even with just a sport coat over a pair of jeans -- any amount of dirt and clutter which you might have failed to notice even the day before become unacceptable. If you do it a few times, the cracked screen on your phone, the bad paint job in a room and the lack of coherence in the decor no longer meet your standards. Even the few extra pounds you put on cannot be tolerated anymore. You feel an urge to change all of it -- and that this change is due for yesterday. Because you look like a man who has standards, you start acting like you do and this changes everything.

I feel uncomfortable wearing a suit, physically. Also does nothing for me mentally. I have worn them, be quite happy never to again. I did pick up a girl showing up to a student conference in jeans and a tshirt, she told me that she noticed I didn't dress up in the slightest way and had no fornication to give in that regard. Lets just say she was very figedity and looking over in my direction just throwing off interest signals. Myself I prefer the more casual even tomboyish look in a female so win win. Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate the Bond/Kingsman ascetic but to me, not only is it physically uncomfortable but to me, it is a uniform as mentally not much different from wearing McDs gear, I see a suit, I see someone who has to answer to someone else, and even presidents and prime ministers have the electorate to answer to. I don't. Feels good man. But hey, you guys do you, seriously man. If a suit or a love of Shakespeare in the original Klingon or Kpop in the original Klingon brings you happy happy joy joy feelings, Good, great, fantastic. Must say though it is a good look.

Great stuff, sir! I want to add and underline that style is not merely about formal wear. It is about being conscious and in complete control of the message you send by the way you look. I have a favourite outfit past few weeks: Blue denim boot cut jeans, dark tan chelsea boots, flanel shirt and a military style m65-ish earth brown jacket. All adjusted to fit perfectly. It gives off a very masculine vibe which is sophisticated by the boots and Hermes d´Terre EDT fragrance and is making me feel EXACTLY how I want to. Manly without overly announcing it. It's all about looking the way you want to feel.
