This league is a joke. Nothing for hyman crosscheckng zadorov in the face, cutting him in the process, nothing for Mcdavids slash that started the whole thing. It shouldn't matter who it was. If soucy is out, both hyman and mcdavid should be as well.

I'm an oiler fan and i agree. I like mcdavids game but stuff like that is just sad to see You shouldn't ever be given a free pass for cutting another player for no reason. Minimum 1 game suspension immediately. Hefty fines. Keeps happening? Series suspension. Don't care which team is guilty

Fair enough that you can't cross check somebody to the head intentionally. But in the immediate aftermath, Zach Hyman comes in and cross-checks Zadorov in the head. Does anyone know what time his hearing is at or had he already been suspended?

McBaby no stitches or pain. Z got stitches from the Hyman crosscheck and no suspension. NHL is corrupt! Bennett however is smiling after this. Took out Marchand. Don’t like Marchand, but double standard needs to stop. A player hurt vs a player not hurt and you got one suspension over one that should be game or two for intent to injure and was successful!

Yeah, the league is very inconsistent. If Soucy got a 1 game suspension there (for not even meaning to purposely crosscheck McDavid in the face), then Hyman should get at least a 1 game suspension too as he purposely crosschecks Zadarov in the face. But, did he even get a fine or a hearing for that? Nope....

Well McDavid was not cross checked in the head intentionally so the suspension is unjustified.

I'm an oilers fan and I agree. That high stick from mcdavid may not have been exceedingly brutal (it did still draw blood) But it was a high stick and it drew blood, for absolutely no legitimate reason. Suspension. Nuff said

That's what I fear. When Juulsen hits, he usually puts himself out of position. I rather he sticks to playing defensive hockey instead of looking for hits.

@@samjam6989 Bodychecking McDavid is fine and wanted. I don't want Nucks players to purposely injure Oilers players as that's something only the dirtiest players/teams do. Got to beat the best on the scoreboard to be the best. Having said that, I was p'ed that Nurse ran Pettersson head first into the boards or Ryan spearing Hoglander in the nether region or Kane's slew foot on Hughes. When one team plays dirty, I can't blame the other team for responding in kind either.

I hate being right. Juulsen cost the Canucks a goal against tonight because he went and bodychecked Ekholm, which put him out of position that led to the the Oilers 2 on 1 and they scored on that.

Correct. Soucy wasn't punished for cross checking to the head. He was punished because he did it to McDavid which is complete nonsense. Punishment should be fair and equal regardless of who is involved.

I think there has to be consistency. Yes, that play was probably a suspension. But if that's going to be punished, then the spear to Hoglander, and the Hyman cross check shouldn't just be ignored.

There is a tradition of officials screwing Vancouver in the playoffs going all the way back to Pavel Bure getting suspended in the Stanley Cup finals against New York. In the previous game McDavid cross-checked Pettersson head first into the boards and blatantly slashed Hughes across the face cutting his cheek - neither infraction resulting in a penalty. That's a minimum of 6 minutes in power-play time Vancouver should have received in a game which they went on to lose in overtime.

Juulsen will step in and there will be no change, just like during the season. Juulsen actually throws bigger hits than soucy does.

While I don't mind a one game suspension for Carson Soucy, Hyman showed far more intent to target Zadorov's head in retaliation.

can the canucks survive the game 4 without soucy? i have my doubts but the canucks have proven from time and again that they are a resilient bunch, so, i'm hopeful with my fingers crossed

Why doesn't McDavid get a fine or anything for what he did he started the whole thing double-handed slashed to the leg I mean give me a break man this is absolutely ridiculous.... Two connect players get fined or suspended and one guy started all gets nothing. That's just terrible and you know the bad Omen for that is that now I really do believe the Canucks are going to win this series just because that's just sad... Every (legitimate) reason for Soucys suspension applies to Hyman as well. Crosschecks to the head are allowed after the game or they aren't.

Soucy gets a hearing with DPOS and McDavid gets nothing for highsticking Hughes in the face, Hyman gets nothing for boarding Pettersson, Kane gets nothing for holding Zadorov’s stick and then attempting to kick him?

In his presser Tocchet mentioned the league had a couple things to look at including a Hyman cross check. Has to be this one below. I’m told Zadorov needed stitches to close up a cut on his face.

Just so we're clear: - Zadorov 5k fine for cross check to McDavid. - Soucy 1 game suspension for cross check to McDavids face. - Hyman crosscheck to Zadorovs face no hearing no suspension - Ryan cup checking Hoglander no suspension fine or hearing - Kane slew foot on Hughes no fine suspension or hearing. Gotcha so it's only if Oilers players are taking the shots does it matter.

This is so fun! I would love to see a Canadian team win the cup, but Gary Bettman will never allow a Canadian team to win it all. I mean, sure, we've had Canadian teams make it to the finals, but how many of those teams actually won the cup? "Zero!!" Let's see, there were the Ottawa Senators, Calgary Flames, Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers (2006), and Montreal Canadiens. Only, Winnipeg and Toronto have not made it to the finals from 2000 to 2024. Also, Canucks fans should not tease Toronto for not winning...as the Maple Leafs have won the Stanley Cup, while Vanccouver sits at zero Stanley Cups.

The office of player safety is a joke. It’s almost as bad as the commentators working this series. Both are blatant Oilers homers. Just a bunch of ass kissers. I thought at least Kevin Bieksa would lean a little bit more towards the Canucks. So sick of listening to them kiss the Oilers ass. Can’t give a decent unbiased view of the game. Always something to say against the Canucks. Maybe they just can’t afford to buy a house in Vancouver.

There is no excuse for a cross check like that, if it was up to me Soucy would be unemployed.

This series will probably go seven games. Regardless of who wins, I believe Oilers are the 7th best playoff team right now, and the Canuckleheads are 8th. The Oilers goaltending will be better for the rest of this series. It couldn't get any worse. They will also begin getting more bounces. Having said this, I can't help feel that the Oilers will lose this series. I hope I am wrong, but it is hard to shake off the feeling. What an unlucky franchise. On the flip side, the Canucks have been very lucky this season. On paper, they should be a bubble to a wildcard team at best. I believe they have severely overachieved this season and will return to their bumbling selves next season after Tocchet's shine as coach wanes into the night. Go Oilers go! Message to the NHL: Protect your star players. There absolutely has to be favoritism towards the talented players in this league, just like there is in the NBA. The fact that McDavid and Draisaitl have not won a cup in Edmonton yet is a travesty. The reffing in these playoffs needs to be better. Canucks fans will remember 2011 and how the NHL made sure that Vancouver did not beat Boston by allowing the lowly Bruins to clutch and grab their way to a Stanley Cup. Although I didn't have a horse in that finals matchup, I remember how hurt everyone who was a Canucks fan was at how they've been robbed of a championship. The NHL does not want a Canadian franchise to win the cup. The fix is always there. Just look at how the oh hum boring LA Kings won two cups in the past. That team was the antidote for people suffering from insomnia. Anyways, enough said.
